thothkins Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 if pirates>ninjas who do you get to assassinate pirates?
Gorlom Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 You dont assasinate pirates! Silly... You turn the broadside towards his ship and blast the mast with your cannons. After you you board it you have a big sword fight and as the grand final you make him walk the planktoid.
Zeromanicus Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Because most of the tiers now offer something extra besides the game in each tier, would you ever consider doing what a lot of other projects do and using paypal again to offer tiers for a extended period of time? Or are you too burned by them legally or otherwise? I find it weird how a lot of projects seem to use paypal without trouble considering how bizzare they are over pre-orders.
Chris Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Zero - we're hoping to do it with the names. They're digital, and quite a nice unique thing, and at $100 each they're definitely worth our time but we won't have so many it'll distract us from development. Quite how we offer them, I don't know. Bloody Paypal.
jamoecw Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 To prove that aliens > ghosts?and that pirates > ninjas. monkeys > cowboys Robots > chefs. yes but: nobility > pirates ninjas > nobility astronauts > monkeys cowboys > astronauts chefs > boxers boxers > robots.
Gorlom Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 nonono astronauts > pirates ninjas > cowboys astronauts > cowboys boxers > boxers (and devide by zero) QED monkeys <> boxers
Guest Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Kickstarter is going painfully slow, barely a grand a day.
ko2fan Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Kickstarter is going painfully slow, barely a grand a day. http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/69341191/xenonauts/ Looks like its been doing better last couple of days, over $2000 a day.
The New Romance Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 What about this BMT Micro payment service as an alternative to Paypal? I'm no expert in this field, far from it, but it's one of the options that is often used as a means of digital distribution payment, so it might be worth a look into.
Jean-Luc Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Yeah, a lot of indie devs seems to use the BMT thing.
Zeromanicus Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 It can't hurt to sell the digital artbook etc for a longer period.
Jean-Luc Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 It can't hurt to sell the digital artbook etc for a longer period. Wouldn't mind this either. I wanted to upgrade to the pdf artbook tier but I don't have my Desura receipt anymore. If I could get the artbook via some kind of "support the game" (that doesn't give you the game itself) package that'd be swell.
Guest Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 So who wants to place a bet on the final kickstarter pledge money? I think it'll about $118,000 to $122,000 thousand.
Gorlom Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 That seems a bit low. That's 1k per day without any final day spike.
thothkins Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I was thinking/hoping that it might just get to the next stretch point.
IceVamp Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Yeah, I was hoping for that as well. And it's not too unlikely. As long as there can be enough buzz at the end.
Gorlom Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Depends on how many updates and additional press coverage Chris gets for the last few days. I'm hopeing he will release an update with the new features of the next alpha-build. when theres like 3-5 days left. That could potentially have a nice impact. OFC he would probably need 2 additional updates beyond the alpha-build notes to really milk it for all its got
thothkins Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 taking off 8% for Kickstarter/ Amazon fees, removing the $20-$30 from people who had already pre ordered before and removing the cost of making and shipping the goodies, every penny will undoubtedly be useful.
Shima Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Wait a second, I thought you get credited additional $20-30 to your pledge if you preordered. Not the other way around.
IceVamp Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Yes, thothkins is talking of on Goldhawk's end. But it's wrong, since people with pre-orders aren't supposed to choose a tier and have money substracted from it, rather they are supposed to pledge an amount $20-$30 below the tier they want and say they are pre-orderers as well. At least, that's how I understood it. I forgot to, and I don't want to change my pledge, so can gift one of my keys.
Chris Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 True, we can always sell the art book as well. And yes, if you're an existing pre-orderer then you pledge BELOW the level you want and then we add the value of your pre-order onto it. Wouldn't make sense otherwise
thothkins Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I'm glad I mentioned it. I thought you pledged the amount and then it got taken off. No idea where I got that from.
