amjh Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 If the official release of the game succeeds, what happens after that? If it makes enough money, is it possible that some of the wanted features that had to be cut out will be added later, either as free updates or paid expansions? Quote
Gorlom Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 propbably. the game is going to be highly moddable so if not by goldhawkinteractive so by fans at least. Quote
Chris Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Dunno, really. I'll cross that bridge when I reach it - there's too many variables to say for certain at the moment. Quote
Slam Bus Rodan Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 If the game is successful, which I hope and feel like it should be, there should be a sequel. Chris, please promise us that if the sequel is set with an underwater alien threat, that terror missions won't be two part missions, that alien weapons will have auto shot abilities, and that there won't be any Lobster-like alien super soldiers that can only be killed by fancy space knives. You seem to be implying that the alien weapons currently do not have the ability to auto-fire. I'm fairly certain this is more due to the AI not being complete than anything else. Quote
Slam Bus Rodan Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I'm just referencing/poking fun at "X-Com: Terror from the Deep" and how the alien Sonic weapons had no auto-fire capabilities. Quote
MrPyro Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Don't remind me about the 2 part terror missions. The only thing worse than spending 40 turns trying to track down a panicked Lobsterman soldier hiding in a walk-in wardrobe was finding him, killing him, and then having the game load stage 2 of the mission with half of my troops having no ammo. Rogue Trooper Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Could the underwater based sequel be called "Xenonautical"? Quote
Gorlom Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Aquanauts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquanauts While the description is accurate its not saying much about repelling aliens and might be confusing overall with the already established definition. Also will get too many irrelevant hits when googeling it. Quote
Gazz Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Personally, I think the sequel would be Alinauts, where you, playing the technologically advanced humans, try to invade some backwater alien planet. Then it's the aliens' turn to bring rookie squads with HE packs and research our salvaged technology... Quote

Are you suggesting a turnbased Avatar inspired game? =S Quote
Gazz Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hey, it sold! ...and the plot / setting was even more unremarkable than the 20-times warmed-over one from UFO 1. =P (Yes, I said that Avatar has a plot. I'm easily amused.) Quote
Gorlom Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I thought it wasn't about not haveing a plot, but that it was about the movie haveing the plot from Pocahontas. Quote

Turkey Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) Apocalypse remake done proper could be fun, the original had so much potential but the whole thing felt like they rushed it out, or if they want a change of game style, maybe a DKIII But speculating is pointless other than for entertaining ourselves, until after they finish xenonauts. They still have to work damned hard on making xenonauts a success first... Edited February 28, 2012 by Turkey Quote
MrPyro Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Remake of Interceptor! Preferably one where the minimum turning angle on your fighter was less than about 15 degrees. Quote
TheTuninator Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Personally, if Xenonauts proves profitable enough to justify further projects, I'd just like to see expansion packs for the base game. Add new aliens, new weapons, new UFOs, all the more "fluffy" gameplay features that Goldhawk no doubt wanted to do but had to cut due to time and resource constraints, etc. Quote

anotherdevil Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I'm pretty sure after release Chris will be jumping around in his new rooms, wallpapered with money =p Quote
SmilePic Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Let's hope so. It would be very good to see skirmish/multiplayer simmilar to UFO Alien Invasion. Dreams as they are, yes. Personally, I would be ready to pay additional money for this. Quote
amjh Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Some things that could be added after the release, if it's succesful enough, are additional maps or graphics. One example would be graphics for female soldiers, that many people here are asking for. Also, some of the better modded content could be later put into an official update, if their creators agree.
