To celebrate moving to the new forums, I have decided to elevate a moderator from the unwashed masses to help me take care of the forums. Perhaps unsurprisngly, I've chosen Sathra, the only user who managed to accumulate more posts than I did on the old forums. Accordingly, he has now been granted god-like powers to help him in his heroic fight against spambots and people unable to use the forum search function.

In reality, this isn't going to change a great deal. I'll still be active on the forums, but it just means that there's someone else about who can help with the basic administration on the boards. The forum has been very well behaved over the past two years and unless vBulletin has an inbuilt idiot magnet that I've yet to come across, I see no reason why we won't continue to have an excellent community.

While he has the power to delete threads and ban people, I've no doubt Sathra will use his judgement wisely. However, if you do have a problem with him for whatever reason, you can get in touch with me about it. But in the meantime, please treat him with the respect he deserves.

OMG! We are doomed.

But in the meantime, please treat him with the respect he deserves.

Hmm. Then we'd all get banned because he'd have to assume stolen accounts! =P

Well, not me, of course. I'm like, nice, you know. I even said so myself!

But yah - grats on what usually amounts to a thankless job. =P

A bit off topic, but I really did appreciate the calm and understanding nature of the Xenonauts boards. So I'm looking forward to reading many more interesting and rewarding discussions in the future that stand in stark contrast with what's been going on at Project Zomboid. Sometimes communities can get really... well... spoiled, perhaps is the word - like spoiled milk.

So looking forward to your moderation sir/madam!

Oh no, an Australian? Crikey!

Well, Chris is right about one thing. This is quite unsurprising.

Congratulations Sathra, I will begin fearing you shortly. :D

It's mostly related to the size of forum population I think. While the community is small and intimate, more akin to a family, things are mostly fine but the more people there are the more "combustible" it gets.

Grats, Sathra, couldn't be a more deserving ... Overlord ... Great Ruler ... Boss ... Superior Peer ... or other ... on another note everybody keep an eye for crazed small animals running around, and if you wake up somewhere strange with no memory of how you got there congratulations you now have some alien parts!!!

To be honest, I'm a bit ambivalent about how fearful this Sathra character really is.

His forum signature with all the explodey stuff indicates a personality that is not reluctant to crack the proverbial whip. On the other hand, there's this vague mention of Androns being, and I quote, "so cute."

Is he rather a rogue demolition expert that salivates at the sight, sound and smell of things going boom, or a living Buddha, an embodiment of perfect compassion for all beings living and plushy? I'm flummoxed. As a precaution, I try to stay on his good side, and I suggest y'all do the same.

Rubric Marines? Yeah, Thousand Sons are pretty cool too. But they aren't faceless enough to get the 'cute' factor.

Exploding plushies? So cliche. Plushies need no improvement, especially if they're the ones that always look like they're staring at you in disapproval.

If anyone else has read the Malazan book of the fallen series, then you might agree - I'm thinking that sathra's an escaped Malazan Sapper. It fits all the observed tendencies.

@dix Seems a bit like 'Dead Hedge' - not sure what an andron is but is presumably related to kittens.
