Chris Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 We've released V1.08 on the Experimental branch (click link for instructions to access it). The major change here is removing some of the multi-tile objects from the tile atlases as they're causing a big performance hit on slower computers and is magnified on the Mac / Linux versions. Please download and test it to see if you see any missing textures etc! CHANGELOG: Harridans should no longer fly out of the map and crash the game. Multi-tile objects have mostly been removed from the tile atlases, which should prevent a lot of the slowdown issues in the game. Some soldier sprites have been updated to stop strange behaviour when you combine the Assault Shield and jetpacks. EDIT - Stealth patch for the missing Arctic lakes and invisible props in the final mission committed.
Alewalek Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 No Stable for 1.07 and we have 1.08 or I have missed something?
Chris Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 No Stable for 1.07 and we have 1.08 or I have missed something? The Stable branch currently contains V1.07HF (i.e. the build from just before this one).
deghost Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Is it still uploading to steam? Mac on E-branch does not update yet.
Went Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 [*]Harridans should no longer fly out of the map and crash the game. Harridans also fly inside of Carrier UFO's roof and get invincible there in previous version. Did you fix this issue too?
Chris Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 I'm uploading to Linux now but Mac won't get it till we've done the WINE 1.2.3 wrapper and the updated installer, which we're working on at the moment.
Reactorcore Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I'd like to report a possible bug: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/11386-Attempting-to-stun-a-civilian-results-in-overkill-use-of-force?p=127148#post127148 Either stun batons (which are designed to stun dangerous, hardened aliens) are just too powerful to be used on normal humans or this is a legitimate bug.
silencer Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) Chris - 1.08 brakes lakes in Arctic maps. Loading a mission saved in 1.07HF makes the lake black. Mission saved in 1.08 isn't fixed back in 1.07HF. Edited July 9, 2014 by silencer
Headnoob Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Is there anything glaring left to even do or is the game finished with the patches?
StellarRat Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 There are plenty of bugs still, but not game wreckers. I hope they put out some more patches. I just don't expect them to come as quickly.

Chris Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Just to let everyone know that the tiles are set as of the start of the mission - so if you start playing a mission with the tiles from V1.07HF it'll keep using their properties even if you update to V1.08. You need to start a new mission to see the "new" tiles. I'll look into the Arctic lakes anyway though.
Skitso Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Chris, how is this tile atlas update done? I'm thinking, does it affect my improved tree stumps in any way? Didn't see any atlas files updated, so is it only code based change and old assets are intact?

Just checked only what happens if you load 1.07HF mission in 1.08.
Doomsdayman Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I wonder. OpenXCOM had line of sight PSI. Is there a way to do the same thing but then with Xenonauts.
Lightzy Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 This game is perfect. When can we expect more content? And what more content should we can we expect?
silencer Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 This game is perfect. When can we expect more content? And what more content should we can we expect? Mod section is bustling with life.
Chris Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 @Skitso - I don't think the farm atlases have changed so it should be fine. @Lightzy - We won't be adding new content to the game, but the community most likely will. As silencer suggests, I'd check out the modding areas of the forum.
Moonie Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 The more I play Xenonauts the more I fall in love with it. It is really getting some positive feedback.

flashman Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 gratz on hitting the 80% average on metacritic. I know its a duff metric, but its psychological and RPS did a nice piece on the game. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/xenonauts http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/07/10/impressions-the-triumph-and-struggle-of-xenonauts/#more-218925
