Phoenix Point - Gollop's new X-Com-like.

Fig's pretty okay, considering how Wasteland 3 was campaigned there. -

Backed. Along with Wasteland 3. What with the new Battletech game, it seems like there might be a possible return of isometric RPGs. -

Yes..."motivate"... Edit: Now that I think about it, I'd kill for a Lovecraftian/Arkham Horror-esque RPG along the lines of HBS's Shadowrun trilogy. -

Seems alright, but I'd like to keep being able to throw the packs in, simply because I have no idea how large the current blast radius is. Doesn't seem right to penalize the player if they miscalculate the required TU to get their red shirt solder out of harms way.- 11 replies

While I agree the det packs were a tad too op in the beginning (I never bothered with grenades in OG X-COM, just spammed C4 until I had a steady supply of alien grenades), I'd rather see them balanced through inventory space or weight. Say, a 2x2 or even 3x2 config that is rather weighty. Derp. Missed the post about the new inventory system. Probably the best way to balance it is to have it take up multiple "Belt" slots so that each solder can only cart around one of the things (the poor shmuck is carting around a large pack of explosives, after all).- 11 replies

Capital! Though please tell me you aren't using the same engine again. -
early game alien teleportation?
Commissar Pancakes replied to garyg's topic in Xenonauts General Discussion
Not to my knowledge, no. Are you sure that the entirety of the second floor was completely checked? Props have a tendency to mask tiles. -
Vanilla-wise, there are actually only about a dozen environments that the team was able to produce while remaining on-budget ('course, that didn't exactly stop certain fans from producing a gigantic mod-pack that greatly expanded the map pool). On topic: Oh god...I remember the D-Day esque mission starts back in the Quickstart option of the Beta...

Don't shotguns have a higher damage potential than the regular assault rifle?

WarThunder was always good about that. Though the less said about its Battle Rating balance system...the better.

Where are the patches located?

Depends. Did you directly download it from Humble? Or did you use the Steam key provided? -
Friendly Fire and Reduction

Except you've got to remember that if the GC were taking place in real time, turns would last seconds. There's definitely a difference in accuracy between a prepared shooting position and one where a red shirt was just sprinting down an alleyway (even though that's not really pictured in-game). Heck, the game's a lot more forgiving than actual combat since your solders can't automatically reaction-fire each other. Especially when the plasma is flying above their heads to act as a distraction. -
Mods, GOG, Steam Discounts
Commissar Pancakes replied to bigjackskid's topic in Xenonauts General Discussion
Pretty much. The only thing Steam adds to Xenonauts is the requirement that Steam be running when you play it (and that can also be circumvented quite easily). You just have to follow the directions posted with each mod. And pay attention to the version requirement. -
Then they are found in dereliction of their duty. You are hereby required to notify them of their impending termination.

You have failed in your task of ridding our GLORIOUS HOMEWORLD of the disgusting, tainted touch of Xenos Scum. I am disappoint. Report to your Regimental Disciplinary Officer for immediate summary execution.

FALLOUT 4. ...and to a lesser extent...Nier 2. Enough has been said.

Stun grenades and rockets are gas-based. You'll need to use them and flashbangs in tandem to make sure those filthy xenos scum go down quickly, as gas needs a few turns to work.

I would also like to point out how to game the system (you dirty cheaters you ) for door breaches: 1. Because you are opening the door, no reaction fire may be received due to the mutual surprise mechanic. 2. Grenade tossing animations do NOT freeze the screen, so if you are quick enough, you can issue commands while the solder is taking their time lobbing a grenade. This means that you can instantly close the door as soon as the grenade passes the threshold and suffer no retaliatory strikes against your solders. Rinse and repeat (while listening to the dirty xenos scum scream about game imba and hax).
