  1. If they are modding the game to that depth they can change the name to anything they want it to be called.
  2. The current builds only have the newer industrial tileset to test. The farm set was a little less well polished but very X-Com.
  3. Sooner or later the shields would take enough damage that they won't be such good protection though. Then you would have a bit of a problem. Not certain how the damage works yet though.
  4. A nation that was getting pounded on may well sign a non aggression pact with the enemy if they thought it would save them. Especially if they had lost faith in the only organisation that they had believed could defend them. What is the point in NOT signing up if you are already losing and have no option that could lead to any other result? No one ever said they were happy with it, just that they had no alternative.
  5. Finding a cabal specialised in infiltration on the other side of the world and successfully wiping it out would be a bit hard to do.
  6. I can't see myself bothering with the easy (and morally dubious) human killing missions when I have more valuable missions to do. If the missions are easy AND valuable that seems to be bad balancing.
  7. Just pressed the 'M' key Chris. I am assuming my cheque is in the post?
  8. I really can't see that type of mission being interesting. It would just be a case of selecting all the weapons, targeting the enemy then clicking fire. As much as I do prefer to have some control over combat I think in this case it doesn't add anything fun. Security cameras would be interesting. Make them pan side to side with a 45 degree movement per turn and you would never be quite certain where the enemy you spotted last turn has gone. You have the home turf advantage in so far as you can place your troops within certain areas to make your response as effective as you can. The cameras would make things a little easier as well. If they are quite hard to see and tricky to hit then they may serve you quite well.
  9. I want to research Blue Comet Blob Guns (BCBG's). Although Red Comet Blob Guns (RCBG's) fire faster.
  10. I don't really like it. Slaughtering practically defenceless humans isn't really what a mission should be focused on. At least if they are hostile npc's defending set areas you have the option to (and maybe be rewarded for) avoiding killing them.
  11. Yeah the system doesn't need to be too complicated. A portrait with a rank symbol and a weapon type symbol should be enough. The weapon icon could be a different colour or have a different shape border to show what tier it is or something.
  12. If you aren't sure then you could zoom in? No idea how accurately the game judges the combat if you are very borderline though. If you don't send your craft out at the same time in the same squadron then they won't all engage.
  13. Using interceptors in base defence is already possible. If you see a ship coming towards your base you attack it, if you don't see it coming then you get out quick. If the alien ship doesn't vanish for some reason once it has unloaded its troops you can always attack it on the way out. The air terror missions that Chris talked about a while back could be used for your base defence though. Only difference is that your own defences would show up on the screen and could be destroyed. That would mean base defences would either need to be really tough or easily replaced. Those defences would be unlikely to destroy a ship attacking your base but they could reduce numbers that make it to the ground. Unless you build massed batteries anyway. The only question then is if it would be much fun playing those missions?
  14. You could reverse the normal missions. Rather than friendly troops holding an area they would be hostile. Xenonauts troops would be attacking to liberate the nation from alien influence but the local troops wouldn't know that. They would just see an attack. If they are holding an area then you would probably need to avoid killing them and work around that area. Killing them would be a relations hit to the nation, even if you succeed in the mission. Kind of a yay you saved us, did you have to kill a large section of our national guard though...
  15. The aliens were sent to colonize a distant star. They don't actually have ftl travel so had to make the trip in some kind of stasis. When they arrived they started to wake up to find that the only habitable planet already had a human infestation. They make the decision to attack as they can't go back. As they either wake up more of their gene engineered colonists, or engineer better ones on the fly, they also start converting their tools and technology into weapons. As they get more experienced they make more effective weapons and troops. Their starting troops aren't real soldiers at all, they are also using modified tools instead of dedicated and developed weapons tech, while the early craft are modified transports and farm machinery. It just all looks impressive because it is beyond what we can do.
  16. On the air combat screen a simple difference in the messages should be enough to show what happened. "UFO destroyed" or "UFO shot down" for example.
  17. I played Azure Dreams, it really was something a bit different. Very good game, can't believe I forgot about it. I think I still have it on the PS.
  18. Remember that the UFO's will come in waves as well. You will only have a certain amount of time and manpower to follow up these crash sites. Your team would naturally pick the biggest and best opportunities for finding something useful. The other side is that they would also need to cleanse the big ships of survivors. The little pile of wreckage with little value or interest can be left to the local authorities to deal with.
  19. If you feel strongly about having a squad with a 'realistic' command structure you always have the option of switching the troops around yourself.
  20. Hmm just need to add sticky bombs that can attach to your own vehicles now...
  21. England has some dangerous species as well, it isn't just Australia. I stood on a hedgehog once, bare foot. OK I am struggling a little with the 'dangerous' to be honest.

    X-com eu lp

Must be those roadworks Chris mentioned in another thread. Few lane closures and the whole solar system backs up.
  23. That sounds like a lot of work for the devs though. Have to say I don't think it would get used enough to fit in as a core feature.
