postm00v
So in my current game I ordered a new batch of recruits. When they arrived I was surprised to see that they weren't privates, as I expected, but corporals. All of them. I annoys the hell out of me, and I desperatly want this to be changed. (Not saying you HAVE to, just saying it would make me a happy camper)
MisterLock
What...? All my new recruits are coming as Privates.
thothkins
I've seen that later on in the game that you get slightly more experienced recruits. This was to offset the fact that putting novices into later game missions would end up in disaster for the player. I wasn't a fan of this at all, as it feel it's demeaning to the efforts of all the soldiers used form the start/ doesn't promote tactical use of squad rotation etc. I do think that there is a point where local forces have taken on the smaller UFOs that having more experienced troops coming into the Xenonuat fold would have some logic to it. They would have had experience in fighting the aliens. This can be represented in a slight increase in stats. However, they absolutely should still be Privates, reflecting their status in the Xenonauts.
Snozy
I like thothkins idea keep as rookie but stats can be rising higher then normal??
Chris
Yeah, the idea is that the later ones start at a slightly higher rank. If you're not a fan, post about it in the beta discussion forums as it's not an idea we're necessarily completely wedded to.
Wolverik
Noooo, they should come in as privates. I don't care about the stats , they could be better trained or have better stats no problem. I already try to delete the first 10 because they start higher.
GizmoGomez
Wait, so you don't want to have higher ranked troops? Why?
WalrusJones
I think the reason why your first troops are inherently more experienced is that they have been working with the xenonauts for years.

I thought that much was obvious. Meh, guess not.
WalrusJones
I thought that much was obvious. Meh, guess not. Of course, I always given charlie team demeaning names to make up for their superior stats. Left hand Lad Butt Wolf Dominated Monkey The Puppy The Virgin Dismal Rebel Rouser Unwanted Queen CHINCHILLA DRUG.
postm00v
Wait, so you don't want to have higher ranked troops? Why? Immersion. If I sign up for the military today, I don't get insta-promoted to corporal neither.
Gazz
These higher ranked troops did not sign up for the military when you hired them.
postm00v
But they're new to Xenonauts. So they should start out as privates imo.
