His attempts at visual consistency are something that should be appreciated.

What have you modded and how has it turned out?
WalrusJones replied to Hovis's topic in Modding Discussion
I did a medium size weapon adding project, never got as big as the little mod, and I am having difficulties with just motivating myself to update it (I seriously burnt myself out in the first week, and haven't looked at it since.) -
I wish you good luck
-
*Slowclaps.* Impressive. It really is.

Its a good thing we don't have fallout 2 perks. Better criticals+Sniper would love that thing (20% Chance instant kill PER BULLET.)

Max's warehouse of the Unusual and the Strange
WalrusJones replied to Max_Caine's topic in Modding Discussion
Ohh god. Xcom Apocalypse. -
I can check it out. Look at it in notepad + first, and collapse every weapons section, I had a similar shotgun glitch which was caused by a hard to notice open bracket which made MOST OF THE GAMES WEAPON FILES a part of the shotguns file.

Looking for new artwork for your T2 ballistic weaponry? I am making a few things that I probably won't be using personally to get back into the modding mood. I will be turning this into something cool, at the very least, but I have 3-4 weapons I plan on attempting to make into new sprites.
-
And, I think adding categories is out of the modders court, as well.
-
I have run into those too... Fans of my mod will be pleased to know that I have done the backup drive operations needed for me to update to the next version..... My modding suit has consumed 8 gigs of data on my poor, poor windows partition. ) = (Lots of PDN files, sprites, and sounds that never passed my quality standards.) I actually couldn't install the new version until I did this.... So, I will now actually be able to begin on my update to V19. Be ready to be eaten and integrated.

How could I mod research and manufacture times
WalrusJones replied to andyman1971's topic in Modding Discussion
Manufacture times are NOT fixed, mind you. They operate on a system of man-days needed to construct an item. You can alter this in MANUFACTURES.XML, by dividing every recipe by ten (But leaving it as an integer, no decimals) you can get as close to the effect you want. -
I am simply stating that a gram of tritium is a lot more then one would think... Its still incredibly expensive.
-
Tritium is a hydrogen isotope. A gram of it is a lot of it, by volume!
-
I really enjoy the particles that jumppack is putting out.

Some XML is formatted for Excel, some isn't, it seems. If it is readable in notepad, it probably isn't one of those documents. As for getting a machine-gun specter.... It wouldn't take a long time to convert a rifle specter to it. CTRL+F to open search, and use the replace all function to replace all instances of "Rifle" with "Machinegun" Do this for a copy of the rifle specter for every suit of armor.
-
I COULD get one.... Yes.
-
I am glad the soldier specters are not out of date. IT WOULD really suck if they were. Enjoy them! And.... Community, consider this tech support the best gift the ever so lazy creator of WATBE can give you to make up for him taking forever. I have time this weekend to do things, and I think most of the mod update will be done in that weekend.

My try at adding a new weapon to the current build.
WalrusJones replied to Max_Caine's topic in Modding Discussion
Look in the AK47, the Callahan, The Farmer Rifle, and the Submachingun's folders for the main patterns of specter.xmls. Additionally, Feel free to steal the Sashmir and Knife if you really want, but..... Don't expect the Messer. -
My try at adding a new weapon to the current build.
WalrusJones replied to Max_Caine's topic in Modding Discussion
Trashman. I can tell you. Very tediously. -
Its hidden within a compressed file. My WATBE contains several proper example soldier specter XML's as you would use them. FEEL FREE TO STEAL THEM.
-
You can unpack much of the games internal XML using QuickBMS.... There is a tutorial on the matter somewhere on the forums... Uhh.... I don't have the link currently.

Its why my last planned update is a native American styled bow after I finish touching up plasma and mag weapons with new and interesting variants. That will take more work then the rest of this mod combined, which in turn will keep me updating. I expect this to be happening over a year from now, due to technical limitations I am hitting in the current versions of the game.
