Markon
I had a soldier whom I was sure was dead, I could have sworn he was listed as KIA. When I got to the mission screen, I had a -2 points on my score for 2 Xenonauts casualties. However, when I went to the soldier development screen, I believe it said "soldier recovered" over his head, he was at 2 % HP, and promoted, given the medal for suffering a grievous wound in the service of humanity, etc, etc. it was AWESOME! Does anyone know how likely this is? Or was he never dead to begin with, just stunned? Also, if he was stunned, how? This was literally my first mission on a new play-through with the new patch, and he wasn't hit by any flashbangs or anything like that. (the other casualty was just dead, poor guy, but nothing surprising there)
StellarRat
Sometimes they're just gravely wounded and will return from the "dead". It's intentional, but not very well explained or indicated in the game.
Gorlom
But should those gravely wounded people be listed as KIA in the mission debreifing?
Ol' Stinky
But should those gravely wounded people be listed as KIA in the mission debreifing? That's just those jokers playing a good natured prank on their commander. Ha ha, those guys! What are they like!
Chris
Yeah, soldiers can survive "death". It's a low chance and it's further reduced the further the soldier's HP was reduced below 0 (at -10 HP it falls to 0% survival change). It's been in the game for a while but I think we only recently added the "soldier recovered" notification to the screen. They were previously listed as KIA but then just reappeared in your troop rosters at 1% health. In my mind listing them as casualties is fine too, Gorlom, because a casualty doesn't necessarily imply death.
Gorlom
"killed" does not imply they are dead? I think someone has played too much quake...
Dranak
Casualty does indeed include both dead and wounded. But listing them as KIA (Killed In Action) and then coming back as alive is a bit confusing, so I'd love to see it changed to something indicating that they are actually still alive on the mission debrief page. Gorlom
Curses!" Markon tricked me! (by means of me reading too fast) Where would there have beeen listed as KIA if they were listed as recovereing in the debreifing? Oh well. If they are not listed as KIA then I have no iddues
Chris
Easy mistake to make - they used to be listed as KIA, but we fixed it recently. It's a bit weird when a soldier "survives" being Reaper-ified though. We need to fix that.
Commissar Pancakes
It's a bit weird when a soldier "survives" being Reaper-ified though. We need to fix that. "Oh god! They got Kinkade!" "Wait...It's alright. Looks like it only tore out his appendix and pancreas! Now whose got the band-aids?"
StellarRat
Picard and Seven of Nine survived being Borgafied so why not our brave Xenonauts?
