ViniJones
Could you guys tell me how that thing actually works? Ive used it on several Foxtrot vs Fighter squads... and won... without a scratch. I tried wining it manually and its hard, if not impossible. A corsair and 2 migs get a landing ship with escorts, also without a scratch. 2 migs against 3 fighters? You CANT win that, auto-resolve does - with 66% hp left on the migs... lol. Does it calculate the $ cost of the aircraft versus the enemy one to determine the outcome? The purpose of the auto-resolve is a mystery to me, so Im not critisizing, just curious how it works.
GizmoGomez
The autoresolve is still in the works; Foxtrots used to be able to take out fighters easily (too easily) so torpedoes were cut back so they only were effective against capital ships, basically. Things that couldn't dodge. The autoresolve just hasn't been updated to reflect that, I would guess.
Chris
Sounds like a bug. Torpedoes should be counted as zero strength against squadrons where all the craft within it can dodge. Foxtrots vs Alien Fighters should = lose.
Chris
That doesn't address the issue of mixed squadrons as torpedoes would still be fully effective against a squadron that has a capital ship in it, but it's quite hard to account for that logic in such a basic system. billion
please leave current algorythm. so we can easely win and find more bugs in remaining parts of a game for sure it should be fixed and upgraded. but not now please

Things that couldn't dodge. The autoresolve just hasn't been updated to reflect that, I would guess. I am well aware of how it was and the reasons it got changed(twice in the same direction). My point is of course(as the thread name states), the present state of auto-resolve. That may well indeed be as you said, not up to date yet. Sounds like a bug. Torpedoes should be counted as zero strength against squadrons where all the craft within it can dodge. Foxtrots vs Alien Fighters should = lose. You see, its not really the torpedoes that would make the fight a lose. Although the examaples I provided were indeed migs loaded with torpedoes, migs loaded with missiles dont do much better, since the alien fighters outrange them, they cant dodge and have 150 hp. That doesn't address the issue of mixed squadrons as torpedoes would still be fully effective against a squadron that has a capital ship in it, but it's quite hard to account for that logic in such a basic system. Yes, but it is the minor of the evils. I won that fight manually, but it was a close one, certainly not a 100%hp-left win scenario the auto-resolve does. please leave current algorythm. so we can easely win and find more bugs in remaining parts of a gamefor sure it should be fixed and upgraded. but not now please You can easily win in manual with a diverse combination of interceptors, not just migs. As ive stated, I dont know if the auto-resolve is supposed to make things easier for people who dont want to manual fight, or allow them to skip it completely, so ive no opinion on the: wether or not keep it this way for now. GizmoGomez
With so many people asking questions without researching them, I've simply grown accustomed to giving details about the things I talk about. I'm sorry if my giving details seemed to insult your intelligence; it wasn't intentional.

Commissar Pancakes
No worries, my intelligence is so low, its almost impossible to insult it. ViniJones has found DENTED METAL HELMET! Stats: +3 Luck +3 Armor save -2 Perception -5 Intelligence Description: While this metal helmet appears to be extremely lucky, it seems that the large dent on its upper surface has caused it to obscure a large part of its wearer's peripheral vision. The fact that it is extremely shiny and likes to draw fire also seems to make sure that the wearer is always in a constant daze from the multiple impacts. The last solder to wear it, Pvt. Spalling, suffered no less than 28 concussions over a span of 31 deployments before a lucky shot relieved him of his legs.
