  1. Aye, but soldier xp is not gonna pay for the interceptors. Ill be back, when I get further into the campaign, if I dont get pasted again. BTW: I just got successfully reaction fired in the face, could be the reinstall could be the hotfix.
  2. Never seen a scout land. I played the early game a lot, wouldnt blame the randomness here. As for the payout, unless you stun every crew member while clearing the crash-site, the loot is worth less than the airstrike reward, up to landing ship at least. This could be blamed on randomness though. The game doesnt freeze, it crashes straight to desktop. The reaction fire never comes out, theres no soldier dying. I might try re-installing.
  3. That makes sense, though It might not be exactly what I meant. If I clear crashsite theres guards. If I let it land in my base theres an officer and soldiers. Wether or not it was the same craft though, Im not sure . Oh yea the datacores, theres not really any money from clearing a crashsite, so while someone stated, you cant just airstrike all of them... You can, and now, its even profitable... bleh. Not to mention waiting for a corvette to research alenium. How about a chance to find an intact core in a crashsite, instead of a guaranteed one? Uh huh, I suspect XNT itself, it is one of them "secret encounters" crews... I guess ill try to finish the mission and see if the problem persists. EDIT: Definitely not the crew. Even fresh start crash-sites CTD like theres no tomorrow.
  4. Now first, nicely done on the geoscape. I was very sceptical when reading your description, but the ground mission variety seems to have improved. I Actually had to do one nighttime. Which I didnt have to do since.. well, never. I like what you did with the soldier stats. Though they still gain ranks too fast imho, the stats are fine. A crew of fresh privates armed with free advanced ballistics can hold their ground. Love the morale system, I still consider psionics in this game retarded, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. I look for high bravery recruits, again never done that before. Alien crews seem messed up? A scout crash-site had weaker aliens on board than a base assault one? I dont like some of your GC loading tips, "Use planes to scout, but if you find a base, its cheesy, dont do that!". Wtf? I mean its still better than "Retreat is always an option." or "Oh god, I hope its not androns.", but damn. Cant really touch on the balance I reached Dec. on Insane, and the game started CTDing everytime an enemy should reaction fire. Was there a patch today or something? Doing great, keep going.
  5. I hate that. X_X I found Insane not much different from veteran. Playing vanilla again would probably bore me.
  6. I always rage at androns bloody reaction fire and didnt have much trouble with sebillians... You didnt mention the ironman option so I assume you didnt use it? It helps with the "too easy" feeling. Oh and if you plan to do another run, be sure to check out the mods, preferably ones with melee aliens.
  7. Indeed I dunno Deidrianna´s elites always wore the 3rd gen night vision in my version. I guess I just prefer to rule the day and sleep at night.
  8. Delaying the bleeding by one turn would be cool. I find it most annoying, especially when I get hit by 2 smoke grenades and bleed for 8hp that turn. Far from fine imo..
  9. Depends on what you call cheating. Avoiding night missions is well within the set boundaries. While changing the flare light radius is pissing on the boundaries set. That said, cheating is a childish "concept", its a sp game. If its more fun now, than before, thats all that matters.
  10. I stun them, if theyre in danger, that way they actually survive.
  11. Youre probably right, I was just thinking aloud there, I got too many hours into it and stuff seems to blur together uncontrollably.
  12. I didnt play vanilla for quite some time, but I vaguely remember the terror mission briefing stating that the funding increase is shaped by the number of surviving civies.
  13. I carry multiple charges onto GC floor. Much like rockets, i dont use them often, but theyre there when I need them. Use it mostly for UFO door breach in alien bases to break cover or soften up enemies, if I dont need the money and/or do not care for reaction fire. Leveling a whole building with a scumbag Reaper hiding inside happened only twice, but was fun nonetheless.
  14. I would guess the 24hrs as well. However, you can reliably wait for daylight every time... So long as theres a dropship en route, the mission will not disappear.
  15. Yes. Prioritize air superiority and only pick the ground fights you want/need. Dont do night missions, dont let the UFOs start their special missions, at least until you can handle them. Im pretty sure people covered this in the earlier pages of this thread.
  16. Sides, the base upgrade is quite the prize.
  17. Could be it, youd need more than 700k in bank to make it through that month. A lot can happen in 5 days, could sell stuff and raid the crashsites. EDIT: Dam!
  18. Yea, whats a play-through in your def? How long are you in without caesans? I once fought only sebillians until second half of October and that was vanilla. Might just be bad luck.
  19. Actually, since Enemy Within, Ive been able to come back even from a total wipe on an I/I run. But lets leave firaxis out of this. Here in Xenonauts I go 2 squads most of the time, just because I can, when a blue andron terror mission goes south, replacements arent privates. The gear can be replaced if you take a break from GC. Air superiority makes that possible.
  20. I cant read shit on the img, but I doubt its more regions leaving, they all paid "something" except one. The background is a lose screen, maybe the aliens had enough time to succeed at whatever it is they were doing,... shoulda winged the dreadnaught with the buzzard armors. Seriously, do it... and take pictures. EDIT: Actually dont take pictures, do a video in this resolution.
  21. I felt the income damage, when the patch hit, but the speeds... nothing changes really, maybe a few scouts will fly over the ocean and laugh at you. XNT - Into darkness the flight of Josh Eales version 5.2 was pretty good. Since 5.3, I cant bring myself to play it enough to judge it. (just kidding i judge it harshly to everyone I meet.) But if you only played vanilla and there was something missing chances are, its already included and/or taken out already. Read up on it here: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/11449-X1-08-X-CE-0-25HF-XNT-Into-Darkness-Mod-V5-3-The-Firebat "I remember i was playing one of Ufo-something games with mod x10 enemy spawns." Yea with that and more troops per dropship it would be fun. Id probably go with veteran or even normal. I get the feeling that the turns would get crazy slow.
  22. If the game randomizes a face I dont like, I swap the images.
  23. Aliens get more health, more damage and higher stats, but the crew sizes are the same. On geoscape its the other way around, your planes get slower, your weapons weaker and the events generated by UFOs cost you more income. Thats certainly not a list of all the differences, someone who mods, or has actually played a lower difficulty and then changed would know of more. I doubt theres more aliens/UFOs spawning though, theyre so low on insane, that spawning any less could be against the law. Point is... I wouldnt expect you to find the game more challenging on a higher difficulty, more annyoing is more like it.
