  1. That flight was beautiful. I have just made another Xenonaut copy folder, to explore this mod. I look forward to appropriately high casualties.
  2. well for the Alien bases, base assaults, and terror missions, you've actually probably already killed most of them. For any of those actions, the game spawns a ship with a mission to do so. If you shoot them down, well then no aliens in new york. So if your doing a real good job in the air game, then your reward is not having to kill a city full of aliens .
  3. I would probably go. With all Ballistic weapons, Jackal armor, and mostly recruits. Consider an exercise in anarchy.

script calls seem to be hardcoded to certain sections of the game. I've not seen any configurable file of "Hooks" for the scripts, so I don't see that being possible.
  5. Well, I suppose if the AI feels the ship is safer, he'll try to go there. You didn't happen to go full Russia and execute the civvies, did you? I'd love to be able to arm Civvies with my guy's sidearms and see what I can achieve with my militia.
  6. Yea, they can cause alot of damage when they do something smart. My old breach technique was basically envelope the door in a V shape, so as to allow everyone to fire on any exposed targets. Now everyone stacks away from the door, except the MG, sniper, and the two most accurate riflemen I have, who stand behind those two, who stand a fair bit away from the door. Seriously reduces casualties from a door rush, and the only risk is the MG can accidentally suppress the troops nearest the door if he misses too much.

I'm not certain, but I believe that role information is actually part of the save file, hence new games losing all their roles from beforehand. I've not seen anything on them in my time through the files, at least.
  8. Are we certain he's a backer? He's been around forever, and I don't know how long they have been making the backer portraits...
  9. I've not seen the ability to mod it. Ranks are based on points a soldier gets when he levels up a stat. If he uses enough TU in a mission, he will level up his TU, and that will count as a point towards promotion.
  10. Excellent, because he speaks exactly like that in my head . Makes the reaper autopsy a beauty to behold .
  11. Its not a loss, its an unplanned eternal vacation. I believe gas grenades still "Disperse" Through doors though so if your worried about opening to direct contact, you could gas the door and knock them out. At least thats how I cheesed my way through a base assault on V21 I belive.
  12. Yes. Pay attention to the damage numbers, and the like. If your real paranoid, I believe corpses fit in backpacks, you could take the dedicated medic and have him in charge of dragging bodies away from the fighting . don't want that guy who died at exactly 0 getting mulched by plasma cannons.
  13. Yea, its a bit of a pain like that .
  14. I must say, I've been playing with this, minus some tweaks of my own, and the idea of diversifying the light and heavy MG's is very nice. Previously I've not really brought the Heavy MG's to bear much outside of terror missions. These light LMG's will see awesome use during the larger UFO's and alien bases, where we have shorter ranges, but still need more firepower than the SMG's bring to the front. that and browning made an awesome automatic rifleman.
  15. Well, you could make a two handed pistol variety as "Pistol with handheld scanner" and then give it the big reaction modifier.
  16. Maybe so, but from a lore perspective, we got weaponized lasers because they finally provided a big enough power source, which we have no clue how it works, and plasma weapons because we pulled apart all their guns and said "Well that seems to do this, so just make something like that and hope it works" Xenonauts weaponry is not innovative until we hit MAG
  17. I like the look of some of your alien tweaks, but I can't bring my self to play this with the weapons included, most of my games don't last the twenty-thirty years it takes that gear to exist .
  18. I don't think I've ever run low enough on ammo to need to resupply my troops. Terror troops tend to bring a few extra magazines just in case. It does make me wonder, how did the throwable ammo work? Does it always explode, or can it just be detonated?
  19. Yea, I was very shocked when I pulled my first reaper in a ship. Luckily a rifle reaction fire picked it off before it ambushed my troops. I move a fair bit more carefully now, and refuse to take night missions whenever possible.
  20. I've always handwaved them rushing the door when I'm right on it as they hear me/see me with sensors on the ship. The vessels do still work, so why not? Regardless, anything that makes the initial doors more dangerous has been nice. I've been a big fan of the alternative hull layouts, corvettes have been real fun.
  21. Not from my experience. V1.03 I've actually adopted a "Explode the door" Policy because of aliens darting in and out to shoot at my guys who are stacking, friendly fire became a nasty issue in the cross and the option to disable using stored TU doesn't seem to work. Now I stack everyone around the edges of the door side, and the MG pours into the opening until I've whittled down opposition, then I make a clear sweep of the first room.
  22. Yea, I saw that I always thought I was just EXTREMELY lucky at getting him, because he was my murder shotgun guy in my first game, and lived up to his history every game after. And then I learn he was a bug . Sad times. Except now I kind of need that foil. I don't even use the cards, I just want it .
  23. Don't think of it as the medal giving your soldier a magical accuracy boost, think of it as your soldier having improved their accuracy, as proven by the kills they've made, and the medal is their reward, the "Bonus" Associated to the medal is just representative of the gain they made through their achievement.
  24. Well right now the game has to be saving the troop information somewhere, regardless of the deletion when they die. It may be possible to have something skimming the save file for the info related to troops. You might not have any stats from the final mission they fought saved, but you would have a date of death (Game day when the character was removed from the file) and their previous stats. Just a list of names with date of hire and date of death would be plenty to get the idea by, no need to worry about extreme specifics and photo's, ect.
  25. Its engine level, I believe. Why would you want to remove that, if I might ask? Its usually a good idea to scope out different moves, and actually be able to plan moving and shooting.
