  1. Hi. It is a long time I wasn't there. A couple of remarks for your translation. 1. F-17 Condor. - "В результате получился крепкий и маневренный самолет". Может лучше написать "надёжный и маневренный самолет"? - "Исландском Инциденте" - инциденте пишется с маленькой буквы. 2. CH-48 Charlie. - "это военно-транспортный вертолет продольной схемы расположения винтов" - правильнее "вертолет с продольной схемой расположения винтов". Удачи! I hope my Russian text is readable?
  2. Don't run away, we are yor friends (Mars attacks film). As for serious facts. Results 500-700 injured, 2 peoples are in reanimation (emergency state). Roof and part of the wall of one industrial building collapsed. It was reported, that militarys have found 6 meters hole in the ice of lake or river with darkened (ash) edges, this what what was shown by camera. If this hole really belonged to meteorite? There also rumors around the city, that PVO (air defence forces) shot that meteorite with missile to make it smaller. Oh, people ))). One of the footages shown on TV - class, kids standing, teacher smiling to them. Teacher: "Well, childrens... What should I say now... I wish a good luck to you!". She stops speaking, looking at her kids happily. 1 second passes. Ba-bakh! So far there are no giant battle tripods with heat rays, alien contamination... Strange.
  3. OK - there is a topic I can write few my "Give me that"s :-). 1. Zoom around mouse cursor in Global map would make Map navigation easier. Is it clear what I mean? 2. Soldiers names should stay, when edited, not disappear. Example - I want to add smth like "Sniper" to the soldiers name to make ID easier. But after I click his name to edit it - his name disappears and I have to retype his name completely. Which mean I should remember it... 3. Symbols "I" and "1" looks the same. 4. It would be nice to have small (not capital) letters. I'm interested in those like "b" "i". They are identical to "soft sign" and "i" in Russian & Ukrainian languages. In EU I always named my first base after my home city and it need to have "b" in the end, then it looks like written in Russian, while letters are English. 5. It would be nice to have a current possible range drawn around every craft on Global map, like in the game DEFCON - http://www.ag.ru/games/defcon/screenshots/182889. In that screenshot, there is a triangle aircraft under mouse cursor. Circles around it shows where it can fly (thats what I mean) and where it can shoot. "Unergonomyc" situations with AP 6. On Tactical map I can set how much AP I want to reserve (lets say I want to reserv Aimed shot - 30 AP). But I can't do that, if I have less then that. So I have to remember what I want to reserve for that soldier and do that on the next turn. It should be possible to set any AP Reserv, no matter how much APs left. 7. Example: Shot=30 AP are Reserved, I have 40 AP. I need to shoot. But game won't let me to do that. I have to unset Reserve, make shot, then next turn set Reserve again (if I need it). This can be solved if there was way to "Override" Reserve parameter (without bothering with changing it), like 2xLMB, which will make shot regardless of what Reserve is set for. 8. Again - I have 30 AP, and they are Reserved for the Aimed shot, but I want to move. To keep me from picking with Reserve slider I just 2xLMB and my soldier moves. 9. When you during Tactical pressing RMB (Right Mouse Button) then soldier turns in that direction. Same happens even if you click RMB on the UI elements (like soldiers portrait below screen). 10. In Tactical combat droping anything to ground doesn't take any AP. 11. When some research results screen shows - there is no Start another research button. Well, sorry for my bad English and if all this it is just stupid remarks. If not - I can continue :-).
  4. BTW what if there is an alien space fleet that is hanging between Earth and Mars, you need to destroy it first, before you can send you mens to Mars start "Cydonia" mission :-). Just ussual airbattle, but with lot of powerfull ships. Which mean - you need to gather enough of top ships+fuel+best ship weapons. The reasoning is simple - aliens understand, that X-ts are able to reach them and are taking measures.
  5. Hi everyone! Wasn't there for some time. I played new version and have a sought - why not to make collision in aircombat? Because oftenly you can just use cannon/missiles on UFO when it is head-on course and easely win. If there will be collisions, then it will make it more difficult.
  6. Why not make a minigame "Torture the sectoid"? It will be even simplier if devs will just take some "Your slave 3D girl" type game and will replace its graphics. When on Steam there will be the last achievment - "Dallas mystery" when under tortures sectoid confessed that it is he killed JFK.
  7. Generaly I like idea and agree with some criticism. Also first X-COM says, that UFO control system are working with gravitational waves. Well, yes - when UFO enters atmosphere, fly and disappear you can remember its last position, direction & speed, then you can estimate where to intercept it as UFO will not change speed or direction while invisible. And it works well. But all in all UFO can disappear from map completely if not by speed, then by something else. And it is not using this ability to escape from fighter. I think it will look good, if UFO will accelerate to a hughe speed before leaving map completely. It will be just a graphical effect, nothing else. As for I even don't know how it can be put in the game.Or maybe only one type of light UFO class can make some high speed runs to escape from fighter on the global map? Say no more than two jumps. Or it can be some bigger but unarmed ship - it has such ability to balance its defenceless.
  8. Well, after playing Duke Forever I don't even know if I want Duke Nukem as FPS anymore :-))). If X-COM FPS would be done well - than I want it (I had such FPS idea before). But if it was done well - noone would mind against it :-). BTW I liked Interceptor.
  9. I think some savegame file editor will do the job. They were developed for previous games and this one is no exception. And if authors will release some kind of their tools it will be even simplier. Or every soldier's stat will be kept without encryption, then with any hexeditor you can extract needed block from savegame.
  10. I find it a very good idea, that somebody has a chance to fall unconscious, rather than die, when health drops. Ofcourse it should not happen oftenly, so you can't exploit it, but will make game to be more different. And it will not make make it easyer to capture somebody important - thats IMHO.
  11. I liked the idea of climbing up the structures. If there is only one class of soldier can do that in X2012 (I'm not sure), then I think that all of them should be able to do that. Good that there are multiple bodys are needed for research. I think it is good if in Xenonauts even interrogating live aliens will give no resut sometime. Which mean that alien was strong enough or didn't new any new information.
  12. I've bought it. A few days ago. I realy try to play... To make myself to play. But can't. I almost cryed, when I understand, that they have 360 FOV - no more of carefull checking coners, rooms etc. with carefuly counting TU's and planning. As Russians (I think it is our phrase :-)) say "It would be so funny if it wasn't so sad". Money - my budjet 200 of smth. Where is normal currency? Atleast normal numbers of it - millions, thousands. USA - if I will complete mission on their soil they will award me with 4 scientists (sounds like scientists are slaves right?). One base. In a predefined place with arcade-like effect (more money, faster research). Shooting missile is a SPECIAL ABILITY. Not a usual day to day thing. And a great thing I knew before - wonderfull, logical vertical base layot - I think I need to forget base defence missons. And there are alot of other moments. I'm not even talking about such smaller things like satelite, standing still over Germany. This can't be done because law of phisycs. Like this it can be only over equator. Crap. May be I will find it to be interesting later, like a game of it's own, but not like part of X-COM series.
  13. Thats pretty strange why they are the same (except may be as for that book, that Premium users will get earlier than others) but price is different. But it diesn't matter, So OK and thank you. Now I'm trying to find out if Desura is "compatible" with Ukrainian bank I have card from. Then I will make my order :-).

  15. Yes, I read the article and there are things to think about. Especialy I liked that part about "I can't buy this game because I just bought another one, which was hard to pirate" and "And piracy help to sell" - aha, it does, like smoking helps health through stimulating heart and easying nerves. Piracy takes alot from selling games and then returns a bit. That is how it is.
  16. Great ideas! For example saving VIP politician mission can be launched if some country is going to sign agreement with aliens. It is realistical, that not all members of the government will support such idea, and so this exact polititian is from pro-X-COM eeeerm, sorry I mean pro-Xenonauts political group :-). And saving him will increase chances, that country will not sign with aliens and will keep funding you. In this mission, not only Aliens, but AI human soldiers can be your enemys. There also can be a chance, that they will use some Earth's armor against you too. Another idea of the offered "Destroy alien transmission beacon" type sutiation. My English is bad so I try to put it simple. In some more or less random point of the game (but not too early) a player see that there are more of UFOs are flying near some of his base (increased UFO activity). Sure he trys to intercept them. Some interceptions are end with normal air battle. But during others, when fighter approach UFO, the UFO just disappear (false UFOs). Than, by patroling the area or from other sources it is revealed, that there is a Alien Electronic Warfare Station, that is sending false signals to your radars in the region. You may want to destroy that station or live with those false UFO. For example that station is having relatively small guard, but after, say, 20 moves alien reinforcement will arrive. Escorting VIP - there also can be an air ascort. You need to pass some slow, vulnerable aircraft from on point to another and defend it from som UFOs that try to intercept it. The game can give you a window, say from 1 to 5 october. I the given period you need to find the moment when your fighters are repaired, not busy and so on. When ready you can send some fighters in the region, give your clearence for VIP plane to take off. Failure condition - is that if VIP plane is not tailed by X fighter and reached by UFO - than it is lost. Victory - when VIP get to the destination. When VIP plane is tailed by X-fighter and is reached by UFO - then aierial battle is started. If players fighters are destroyed and UFO survive, then mission is lost. If VIPs route is long enough, than you need to coordinate fighters from different base.

My previous post means, that in computer game "Worms" me and other peoples I know used to like to choose flags and so it may be nice to have it flags Xenonauts. That is all.   18. Hello Lee! Wow! Hurricane, flood, birth - with such tornado of events you possibly even will not note if aliens will arrive. Ofcourse my best wishes to the new member of the family and young mother! As for the book - it is a good idea to add a book. I was reading with a great pleasure such additional texts for Homeworld, War Craft 3 FT and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. The book with storys for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was a selection of the best, what fans of the game done. Sad it was not translated in English - it is a very good book of its class. I hope your book will be good, but also need to say I have certain scepticism. How much of cliche Mikhail Kirov will be? How much the story will trade realism for action? And so on. As for what I know - I would think about changing Mikhail's surname. I know, that it is charachter from the game, but tonns of western-created "russians" had surname that are similar to political leaders surname. Especialy Romanov's variations are very popular. Anyway atleast you picked an existing and popular name - Mikhail. Because some time I see that in different Western films russian charachters carrying such names that do not exist at all. Seriolsly. Also you sad "But get your AK-47s ready, people." - in 1979 it means you need to put away your AK-74 first. If they really use AK-47 I hope there is a good reasoning why. AK-47's bigger caliber is a good reason for me.
  19. To find out if your file wasn't corrupted during download by comparing it's size you need to post you file's size measured in bytes, not megabytes. But more effective way is to calculate your files MD5 checksum code. Than you can compare your checksum with checksum of the same file from other users or developers or may be it can be found on Desura. If it matches than most possibly your file is not corrupted. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD5#Applications. Now my question - is it possible to get early versions of the game without preordering it now? Because, as for now, I can't decide if it would be the game I want to buy. Acctualy beta version or demo are OK for making a decision, but I also would like to search for bugs, I also have found a couple of wrong things in my old version of the game that I have and may be to offer some another help, that my, not so big skills, will allow.
  20. Speaking for everyone is good way to make mistake. And it is absolutly nothig personal for me - I would like to play under Soviet flag. Please leave hatred away from this forum - it will not help the progress. Anyway - set of real flags, plus possibility to choose own custom picture, will fit well in everyones tastes, fears etc. I believe it is a good thing to have flags - in such game like "Worms" all my friends who plays it had a flag they like and prefer to set for their team. They where ready to spend some time choosing it from many other pictures. Same was with choosing anthem for their team, naming worms, and so on. Peoples likes such individual features - it means to them something. And while we, veterans :-), are interested in game mechanics more then in anything else, may be this feature will be a plus for other, new players. If only developers will decide to put flags in the game I'm ready to send some flags. Just tell the parameters of the picture.
  21. I voted for "I want everything in one mission". In the previous games there were no UFOs that where big enough for me to split them in two parts. Yeah good example! For me it was long and boring - but I don't mind liberating ports or cities. But it is about UFO we talk here.
  22. I vote for that icon to be switchable on Options, or atleast difficulty level dependent. But switchable is better. Because it is more or less easy to say what settings of "Hard" and "Easy" should be. But who can tell what average player want it to be on "Medium" level? "Custom diffculty" is the best anyway. Also if enemy suppressed or not you can see by scanning it with some MK technology later in game. Before that offcourse you will lose a few good mens.
