  1. Aaron's managed to nail down the smoke crash when stunning aliens after a hilarious amount of time spent trying to reproduce it, so there'll be another hotfix in the next couple of days with that (and likely other fixes). We'd like to get the Stable out this week if possible.
  2. That doesn't address the issue of mixed squadrons as torpedoes would still be fully effective against a squadron that has a capital ship in it, but it's quite hard to account for that logic in such a basic system.
  3. Sounds like a bug. Torpedoes should be counted as zero strength against squadrons where all the craft within it can dodge. Foxtrots vs Alien Fighters should = lose.
  4. Heh. At least he's not in a film, else he wouldn't even still be alive.
  5. Yes, you can take screenshots with F12 if you're running a Steam version of the game.
  6. Can someone please provide screenshots? It'll make it easier for us to repro.
  7. There's an entire morale system in the game, it's just the values are turned down too low on them. Hopefully Aaron will be looking at that in the next week or two.
  8. Do you have a screenshot / video you can show us? I'm not sure we've encountered this one before.
  9. Are you trying to use the same save game for both versions of the game? V18 saves are not compatible with Experimental game saves, so you'll need to start over if so.
  10. I'm going to lock this thread at this point. As the above message suggests, the circumstances that led to the banning happened over PM rather than on the forums. People are entitled to their opinions and I do not ban people simply for expressing a negative opinion of the game, especially if it is done in a well-reasoned and civil manner. Xenonauts is not perfect and we're well aware of that. However, I am not willing to tolerate personal abuse simply because I develop video games for a living, and nor do I see why I should have to.
  11. Unsurprisingly, NastyNative, I do have a Google Alert set up for Xenonauts so I can get an impression of what people outside our community think about Xenonauts too. A few days ago it threw up this: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1040139916 I find it remarkable how interested you are in a game you think is a buggy POS and made by an unprofessional developer who is never seeing a penny of your money. Even if I had forgotten the personal abuse you felt it necessary to send me over PM because I'd not developed the game in record time (despite you never having actually bought a copy of the game), I somehow think that receiving your $20 would not make listening to your incessant criticism worthwhile. Please do us all a favour and never buy my game, and never visit these forums again. Just forget Xenonauts ever existed. If I thought you were I decent person I'd also ask you never to play my game, but I'm sure you'll find some moral justification to pirate my game simply because you don't like me personally. However, I'm equally sure that was always your intention all along so I can't say I'm particularly bothered at this point. As you're the only person (spambots aside) who has ever been banned from these forums, I rather hope in the future you re-evaluate your online persona and start treating indie developers like human beings instead of your personal servants. But do it elsewhere, because I don't want to put up with you.
  12. If anyone has a save game for the stun grenade crash that would be awesome, we're struggling to repro it ourselves.
  13. I'd have thought you're more likely to get a reply from the newer players if you ask how playable people find it in the actual release threads in the Announcements forum. The forums are busy and the new players you're after probably spend most of their time reading the developer-created threads.
  14. It's probably custom soldiers then. People who have paid money to have their soldier in the game and chosen their regiment accordingly. There's a 10% chance a generated soldier will actually be one of the several hundred custom soldiers instead.
  15. We might buff the cannons a bit. The UFOs dodging cannon shots is a bit rubbish too. We'll think about how we should fix that.
  16. You shouldn't be able to buy Xenonauts on Steam on Mac or Linux, but I think it's possible via the browser. Anyway, we will have Mac / Linux versions on there for the final game but not the development builds. If you want to play on Mac or Linux, you need to download from Desura or Humble Store. If you buy though our site you'll have access to one of those already, but if you've purchased on Steam you'll need to email me at chris@xenonauts.com so I can pass along a Humble Store key for you.
  17. Yeah, I think the work Aaron has done over the last couple of months and the upgraded AI means that it's worth playing now - though possibly I'm a bit biased. There will be future updates but hopefully they'll be lots of small tweaks rather than major sea-changes like we've been doing previously. The repetition of maps is still a bit of an issue. We've only got about 30 of them, which tend to get repetitive quite quickly. Anyway, V19 Stable will be on its way in the next week so that'd be a good time to dip your toe in the water.
  18. When this happens, can you get a screenshot please? Without knowing what wall it is, it's impossible to fix it.
  19. If you encounter any crashes, please post a bug report on them and then link it in this thread to be sure we don't miss it.
  20. We'll try and fix this bug for the next build. It seems "rage mode" is a little too effective.
  21. I think there's a bit of selection bias at work here too - this forum by nature has quite a few more hardcore fans on it who wanted a more old-school approach than what the new X-COM provided. We're not necessarily representative of everyone I probably will eventually pick up all of the DLC and give the game another playthrough with all of that and the Second Wave stuff, maybe in a year or so. Collectively it may change the experience quite a bit (hopefully).
  22. OK. It may also be that there's undiscovered bugs linked to grenade spam, but your first post made it sound like you weren't doing anything unusual Do you know which file it was that didn't validate?
  23. The combat isn't intended to be a realistic model of actual air combat. Actual air combat is three dimensional so realism has to be dispensed with almost immediately. The cannons are indeed meant to be the primary armament of the dogfighter aircraft, not the weapon of last resort.
