RikazeMA
It's so minor that it's almost not worth mentioning... My only issue with the game so far is how the small the text is in higher resolutions. I play in 1600x900, and some of the text is too small to read easily. I've been wearing glasses for a lot of years now, and I've only had my prescription changed once, despite spending quite a large amount of time in front of the computer, and even then it was a very small change, another -.25 in each eye, after 7 years of having glasses. Part of the reason is because I never wear my glasses for close-distance anything, like being in front of the computer, or reading a book. A few of the fonts in Xenonauts however make me want to put on my glasses in order to easily read them, which is really bad for your eyes. It'd be nice if you could bump up the font-size on some of the smaller texts one or two sizes. I realize also that this complaint/suggestion is probably moot, since the UI will almost certainly see some changes between now and release, if not sooner, but I still thought it worth mentioning. OneRainyNight
My only gripe is no female soldiers, am getting over it though. I should add that everything else in Xenonauts is amazing.

RikazeMA
This is being worked on as far as I know. Yeah, so like I said, moot. I seem to remember reading something about a UI change/rework/overhaul/something somewhere as well.
OneRainyNight
Not period specific... just saying Wasn't the reasons for no female soldiers more to do with character model/programming problems rather than equality issues? If the reason were purly historical I would argue the case for including them.
Gorlom
yes i do belive its more of a model/sprite issue then historical accuracey. I think AD is just cheating trying to explain it that way instead of going on about how many sprites are needed for a char to be able to hold every weapon and wear every armor. TheTuninator
It was definitely a technical concern, but female soldiers wouldn't have made any sense anyways, given the time period. The US didn't employ women in anything resembling a combat role in 1979.
anotherdevil
yeah, I was just trying to go for the easy option, rather than having to explain about the thousands of sprites, that represent.... Damn you guys! =p

Anyone got any candy? I'm getting cranky. DS.
anotherdevil
yeah but we did have a discussion on this elsewhere, and basically the only country that did have female soldiers then was israel. So while understandable that there might be some women, thats a) a lot of extra work for chris and co. and b) under the assumption that whoever is running Xenonauts (whatever country they are from) is alright with putting women on the front lines. nutbarz
If someone want's women units in it badly enough, they will make them, after the release. But Based on the time frame, and era, there may be worldwide 1 woman unit in every 100 recruits, and while I think if Money and time were no Issue it would be cool to see a few women come in here and there as the game progressed. But Alas, I have not won the lottery and can not grant Chris and Crew a million to get this game done. When I do, I'll let you know.

poulwrist
There'll probably be flak about the lack of women in final reviews now a days you have to be immensely politically correct, lest you take flak for misogyni. Even if there's none intended or even imagined on part of developers. I guess because of the whole bit about women in 99% of videogames being more like some kind of porn fantasy than anything else. Gorlom
Really? Is supermario getting flak for beeing misogyni or something? It shouldn't be all that hard for any reviewer to understand either that it was a mechanically timeconsuming idea to implement or that it is treuer to the time period. Anyone giving flak for it would look rather sily imo.
ls35a
Guys, this is NOT a small issue. Strategy gamers are often older (I certainly am). Yet even with reading glasses and a big monitor I find about 2/3's or strategy games UNREADABLE because of the tiny fonts. Ever play Sid Meiers Railroads? Then you know what I'm talking about. It is NOT FUN AT ALL to have to stare at a screen and not be able to quickly see the info the game wants you to have. Games were more fun 15 years ago. Part of that is modern games are so busy and complicated. Hey, MORE IS LESS. Look at the Star Wars prequels. George Lucas has proven once and for all that throwing tons of crap on the screen is no substitute for good composition. Works with games the same way it works with movies. I certainly hope this text size issue doesn't get ignored.
Sunshard
I'd debate the 'more fun 15 years ago' point, but that would simply be me being contrary (I haven't played a good sampling of old games, and am easily distracted by shiny graphics). You do however raise the important point about accessibility; anyone who cannot read the font due to it's small size will be immensely frustrated. anotherdevil
It wont, a no time has Chris ever said anything about not trying fix resolution issues, he's always been in the positive =]
RikazeMA
I actually did find one more gripe I have with Xenonauts, very similar to a problem present in X-Com: Apocalypse. Loading into the BattleScape means you're gonna be without music. It's sad. The music may not be triple-a quality, Hans Zimmer written score or anything, but it's atmospheric, it makes you feel uneasy, and doing missions without music makes them less scary. ls35a, I'm sure the issue will get fixed. We're not quite to Beta yet, (Though hopefully we will be soon-ish,) and there are plenty of changes on the horizon, not to mention plenty of time to give feedback to GH for things like increasing the font. Keep the faith man, it'll come in due time. Edit: Gah, I lied, I had -two- more gripes. Alien reaction fire doesn't seem to always be tied into line-of-sight just yet. I'm sure that's something that will be fixed with the implementation of the full Alien AI though. I just hate that I can't sneak up on the buggers yet. To "compensate" they have 360 degree vision. This will be fixed for beta, as from what I understood beta will not happen until after the Alien AI is implemented.
