  1. they might be overreaching for the realism aspect there. I can only assume what horrible number it is in real life if a fighter-jet gets shot up a little en sortie. What with the safety checks & all...
  2. So a little less micromanagement, and a little less money spent? Though I wouldn't mind losing a random percentage of alloy in craft-recovery. I mean, its not like I'd prefer it, but I just wouldn't mind. Maybe the no-$$ recovery option could be one of those funding-nation satisfaction perks they were discussing in that other thread that I'm too tired to look up.
  3. Only if they get sidearms. I'll even take a ballistic pistol over those bad old days from APOC. Even the Cooks & Electronic Techs in the regular army get basic training.
  4. Awesome. But don't forget those probably DOOM-inspired exploding barrels from the hangars in Xcom.
  5. I took a look at it about half a year ago. The ship customization is fun once you get a knack for it, as I love spending hours in games like that getting my ships just right. (see Galactic Civilizations II etc) Problem was, I don't think I ever had a successful landing. Who knew that putting a crew inside of a 'missile' could be so much fun?
  6. "Leet?" Looks like someone didn't read the background story on the website. These soldiers are washouts and glorified security guards when the game starts. Learn to use the cover system in-game, and they get better. Don't learn, and like you said, the new recruits keep shooting each other in the back. http://www.xenonauts.com/ Here's a nifty little website you can access to find out about stuff like that background story etc... Hope that clears a few things up.
  7. Maybe as far as the Xenonaut funding scale goes, it could just climb a little steeper ramp. As your organization could become more "famous," so to speak, funding nations dole out more cash. It seems close right now, but just a little nudge in the right direction, cash-wise, and bam. I get that 2nd Airbase before it starts raining aliens.
  8. Just wait till they add the "Hung-over" troop modifier for the day after holidays. Well, only if the aliens get it too!
  9. You know, I always thought that was intentional... I mean, if you think about it, obviously that sort of thing would come to a point where money shouldn't be any object at all. You are defending THE ENTIRE PLANET, after all. (except them Australian bastards who joined the aliens in April, ahem) Plus at that point most of your expenditure is either in manufacturing hours, or limited stockpiles of Elerium. In its weird little way, it was kind of 'realistic.'
  10. Hah, if there's anything the aliens need less of, its better cover-anything. Rockets away.
  11. ...Used to be called the ****ing Blaster Launcher, and they just loved lobbing them over into your LZ... I always wanted to mount a small turret or something on top of a landing craft, even if it was just the equivalent of a HWP turret or something.
  12. Nobody's pledged 1k to add the marshmallow man yet...
  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this pop up in a mod, if it hasn't already.
  14. I hope that the only reason they cut was temporary, because I think something like this could be implemented into play without disrupting balance... Perhaps especially if if didn't work well with "every" alien-type...
  15. Hmm, "Suspicion" indicators. I like it, and not because the damn alien behind the hedges had himself some target practice with my rookies.
  16. Considering how the organization is outside the confines of a lot of conventional laws and whatnot... Well, I know that they strapped mines to dogs in WW2 to disable tanks. Anyways... I'll stop there.
  17. Might have some promise. Out of my $ range, but sooo tempting for there to be a "Yeah find me some malt liquor" side-quest. Anyone got 5g?
  18. Never forget that moment in Xcom when you first came up with the "Awesome" idea to MC a few civilians, and equip them with laser rifles to defend themselves and be fodder. I don't want them to pick up guns, freak out, and hose everything that moves, or hold a grudge if I'm not doing well (either shooting or stunning them or just letting the aliens get them) Hmm, I wonder if there's a mod out there that removes/lowers the points penalty for letting them die? Revengemod, just... yes
  19. A toggle for a blue-filtered radar screen might work for that.
  20. Support packages could add a large new library to the tech-tree, and potentially have some interesting uses. Random stuff off of the top of my head: Shield Generators, advanced targeting to maximize or specialize certain types of damage, radar/holo-projector to fool enemy targeting, internal warhead for kamikaze time ... , and maybe an advanced radar package if they ever wanted to improve the dogfight GUI. Hell, maybe a wifi computer virus transmitter (we all know how bad aliens are with antivirus software, heh) that can force down or temporarily control an alien craft. -Or maybe something simpler, like research to add another hard-point (structural stability or something) I'm not going to get too carried away, but there are a lot of potential possibilities...
  21. Maybe if you had to do something like buying the option from your suppliers. Bribe the manufacturers or the shippers with either a one-time or monthly payment and get easier (maybe still somewhat limited) supply.
  22. @commissar. That picture made my week? Do you know where its from?
  23. Anyways, My name's Jordan, & I'm from Vancouver, Canada, but living in Montreal at the moment for no particular reason. I've been a fan of the orig. Xcom since the damn thing came out. I've been keeping an eye on the dev. site for a few months, and when I noticed the beta went up on steam for pre-order... it was time... My first mission ended horribly with Grey's in cute little red turtlenecks hosing most of my squad from behind cover. (Near the north-pole no less; santa-hat mod??) So... yeah. You've already got the "Smug, cheap, alien bastards in their god=damned hideyholes!!!" aspect of the game down, so it can only get better from here. I look forward to what you've got in store for us, and a shout out to the community. Cheers!
  24. It must be your soldiers, op. I just went on my very first mission the other day... well, there's gonna be a learning curve, and I'm deleting that save.
