Well so I thought... maybe I'm requested to capture a live commander and interrogate it in order to access certain techs, and then I realised commanders and such wont be flying aboard a scout or fighter, they will be definitely aboard a major ship. What if I wanted to neutralize the ship without damaging it? Why if we can mount some EMP weapons as MG to just damage the UFO thrusters? why not give this tech to soldiers as well to fight the enemy robots? I know the UFO will be still damaged if it falls from the sky, but it will suffer much less damage than if we shot it down with both rockets and mg's. So? what do you pals thinks? has this been brought already? Cheers
  2. Like the idea, would prevent players from using rocket launchers or heavy incendiary ammo in such narrows corridors. +1 to damaging both buildings and aircrafts if enough damage is done during base defense. -1 to adding civilians, they should be evac.
  3. Carbines are shortened versions, the famous Lee Enfield had the jungle enfield, the M16 has the M4. Ingame they have a higher reaction modifier.
  4. Can't help it but to find this hilarious and comforting hhahahah yes it was bound to happen and we all knew Firaxis was going to do a TERRIBLE job with such an awesome genre. By the way, my brother is one of those who bought the game, he did after I let it play the beta and he's realised how was supposed to be a game like this in the 21st century. Then he proceeded to show me Path of Exile and now I hate Blizzard for D3... Indie developers are the new renaissance artists.
  5. Voted nothing, you shouldn't be able to tell. We don't want to make this awesome game another "easily easy" console-like game by adding little helps or pop-up tutorial texts to everything that happens. This game must be for awesome hardcore strategy players.
  6. Well just take a look at what has been happening for the last couple of years. Oblivion and Skyrim compared to Morrowind or Daggerfall... those are console games ported to PC in order to sell more copies. Jagged Alliance back in action compared to Jagged Alliance 2 with 1.13 mod, well there is no discussion here. The UFO series after the year 2000, aftermarth, aftershock and afterlight. They were kind of good, they lacked the "real deal" about UFO EU but nonetheless... crappy games.

  10. You can patch their wounds by hitting them with a stun baton or throwing a couple of flashbangs at their feet but medikits are unnefective hahahahahah

  12. Of course it's annoying, it escalates so fast that you can't barely afford a second base. Right now I have a base in the SovUnion and is filled with laser defenses and hangars, but the game is just an alpha, not even a beta yet. Only thing you can do is relay on air superiority to down those motherfu**ers, lots of planes and good strategies to lure them and evade their attacks.

I must say I agree, I just happen to play Hearts of Iron 3 + BlackIce Mod and playing as germany if you focus in building flak stations after you get raped by the RAF by the time allied bombers reach any german province they want to bomb they have some damages due to the fact of flying over enemy territory and being shot at... I can't imagine what would be during the cold war era with lots of SAM sites.

That happened to me !! and happens, I'm using the .zip version of the re-uploaded 14.1 I didn't know that was supposed to be a bug, I thought it was something that was going to be implemented later or a feature under development but I clicked the quick battle too and it starts the full campaign.

Coooonfirmed, it happened to me with the standard medkits, soldier play the animation (looks like a slap in the neck) and nothing happens Also, at some point during research my medkits turned into Advanced Medkits, when I tried to equip them during a tact mission they just simply dissapeared, gone forever.
  17. Go to Desura web and login, then search for the game and download the .zip version. Using Desura to update the game is a pain in the....
  18. I'm playing 14.1, the latest version re-uploaded by Chris. I had to download the full .zip file (Desura insists on downloading the MAC version if I dare to update) and I'm playing a new full game, no old savegames involved. I had no problem whatsoever saving and loading my games but after the second month it ALWAYS crash to desktop when trying to save a game, it doesn't matter if it's in geoscape or tactical. I tried restarting, defrag... the usual.   19. @Chris I think it was V8.9 or V9.1 if I remember correctly. And as far as I can remember that happened between May and early June. So in a couple of months you made an incredible effort and added a lot of content. EDIT: @Moonie, so far I had not a single crash or strange behavior (well other than knonw bugs) it's nice to download and play it for a while each couple of months, I love how Sebillian motherfu**ers run away from me to make chase them and then... SURPRISE... a couple of Caesan reaction fire my ass.
  20. Yes, it was in the base view, inside the vehicles tab. And I had no problem moving in or out the XCOM agents. You have a max of 3 vehicles that can be assigned to a garage, by default everytime you start a game one of the hunter vehic is inside the chinook, you have to untick the "assigned to chinook" and put it back in the garage. Well that's impossible, the tab is grayed out and cannot be ticked so the hunter remains in the chinook whether you like it or not. The only solution is to take it on a mission and let it be destroyed.
