Ishantil
So...I just fired an rocket launcher at a rolled up hose. I assume the "blow up stuff" physics are not yet in the game?
Max_Caine
Not al all. Both kabill and I have experienced the joys of making a roof collapse by blowing up walls. All props have both HP and armour. If you fired a fragmentation rocket at a prop, the chances are you won't destroy it (unless it's very fragile), but are more likely to damage it. EDIT: By "rolled up hose" do you mean those massive cast-iron drums of hose sometime left out in the farm maps?
Jorboc
If the hoses are giving you trouble, just assign one of your troops to "-L" Ballistic Lawnmower. That's how I wrecked mine.
Ishantil
Correct, the rolled up hoses I'm talking about are on the farm maps. I'm not sure which rocket launcher they are using as a basis for the one int he game (looks most like an AT-4 to me), but that should probably taken care of it. Max_Caine
The starting rockets the rocket launcher launches are not anti-tank rockets. They are fragmentation rockets, with poor armour mitigation, a fairly wide radius and does the kind of damage which will kill a human, but not necesarily destroy property. There used to be (up until v....18, I think) an anti-tank rocket, but that was taken out.
Ol' Stinky
Apparently those props have 240hp. A frag rocket does 200 damage to them, so if it's any comfort, you almost destroyed it!
Ishantil
Seems like a lot, considering it's made of hose and sheet metal....lol
thothkins
Sure, but since UFOs starting being shot out of the sky like flies (who shoots flies?), um, like clay pigeon targets, everything is now coated with alien alloys. Sheet metal roofs, hoses...
Ishantil
I knew there would be some explanation.
StellarRat
I knew there would be some explanation.Actually those are big agricultural watering units. They are much tougher than a car or light truck.
thothkins
well, if you have to bring real science into it honestly, there will be facts next...
Ishantil
Oh God, not facts!
StellarRat
Yessss, factsess...Smeagol, hatess the nasty factsess... But, since we're on the topic, the reality is that nothing the Xenonauts carries at game start would likely bring down a building or completely destroy much of anything except for the C4. Kill yes, render combat ineffective, yes, completely destroy no. Even the C4 would have to be carefully placed and would require multiple charges to bring down anything bigger than a outhouse. To really destroy stuff takes 105mm+ artillery or aerial bombs.
Ishantil
Blowing a hole in a wall would be fine for C4. Or blowing open a UFO door. Blowing up something? Like blown to pieces? Yes, artillery or or bombs. Or nukes.
Targe
does anyone know if the dropship (chinook et al) take damage from stray fire? if not, it should
StellarRat
does anyone know if the dropship (chinook et al)take damage from stray fire? if not, it should I believe it's indestructible.
GizmoGomez
Yeah, it's indestructible. It' just makes things simpler, and besides, the OG did it that way. (ha, because that's the end all reason to do stuff.)
