Lightzy
I think the balance might be a bit off there eh? First month in, I had my base in israel (perfect place, beautiful country ) covering europe, africa and the mid-east.. After a month of very intensive ground missions, both russia and indeo-china or whatever it is quit the xeno project, the USA reduced funding by about 60% and south america as well. I don't think this should happen after just one month.. Also, I figure now, if I had devoted all my resources to getting up another base in the USA on the first month, I'd have been hella rich when it got operational, because almost all of your money comes from ground missions, and I'd have been able to do more of those EDIT: I think I might have understood wrongly, russia didn't quit, it just didn't change its funding. Maybe. I'm still totally unclear about it from the interface. it shows as white and has 0$ written under it in the screen, while other countries such as the USA show red and two numbers- the ammount reduced and the total new monthly founding pay I don't understand from the interface. I think it quit tho Edited June 19, 2013 by Lightzy
Korpah
what mode you play? on normal mode i have no issue what so ever, i don't lose soldiers until the come up with plasma cannons and heavy armor, and i don't lose plains till the come with heavy fighters this is on normal mode (iron man) and i'm an x-com vet, but that shouldn't mather much, try when you have no ufo's on radar to send "scout" planes ouside your rader range, the chance of catching a ufo on radar is slim but its there, also make shure that you send a scout to the events that happen also a chance to catch a ufo, scout outside your radar range to detect enemie bases. and i never try for getting another base up until i got my first funding, also i rush the basic armor first, after that i build 2 foxtrot's, after that i save for enough money to build a second base + 2 hangars + 1 radar, this i expand to another radar and 2 missile defences hope this helps a bit Edited June 19, 2013 by Korpah
Lightzy
Ok so play for a month and check what happens to funding on the other side of the world
Ol' Stinky
You can tell if a country abandons you because it turns black on the geoscape map. Not the payment change screen, the map on the geoscape. I've never had it happen in my first month, though, only reduced funding from countries I'm not protecting. I almost always set up shop around the Middle East in order to cover Europe, North Africa, the Middle East (obviously) and any bits of Russia and Indiochina I can manage. As far as tech goes I get Foxtrot asap, then do whatever I can to get alenium explosives so that I'm able to take down unescorted Corvs without problems. I don't build any jackal armour, it's a trap as far as I can tell.
Aaron
The national relationship system on the Geoscape has a lot of really rough parts at the moment. I am in the process of re-setting the entire strategic part of the game in a systematic way, and I've found lots of bugs in the process. There is one in particular I am actually astonished nobody has noticed before now (and I'm not telling what it is, that's no fun).
Sathra
It took a while before anyone noticed that missions had no effect on funding either, so it comes as no surprise that there's more.

Sathra
Is it that successful Terror missions have no effect on nation score? And neither does shootdowns over water. Edited June 20, 2013 by Sathra
Aaron
Is it that successful Terror missions have no effect on nation score? That's the one - you can simply ignore terror missions right now (though not in the next version!). Had you noticed it previously?
MisterLock
I just noticed it yesterday... It was a night mission...My new dropship..the Shrike just got to the terror site.I told it to abandon mission(so I can set it to patrol over the site...thought that I was able to wait till day). After that...1 second later...Terror site destroyed...Looked at funding...no change... So yeah...was fun...But I don't know why I still reloaded and send my guys in the mission...
Lightzy
hmmm, it never occured to me to check :M I don't bother with the terror missions at all though ,I just set my team down next to the landed landship instead. easier mission usually cuz of the openness of the terrain and no bajillion reaper zombies
svidangel
Ah, hadn't noticed, generally don't get terror missions at all, or just do the mission for the landed UFO next to them.
Sathra
I noticed since Australia gets ignored by aliens, except for a terror mission. Since it never got flyovers it had a base change of 0, which didn't get modified after the terror mission. I only checked after you mentioned something was off .
