Milestone 1.05 Experimental Released! (Closed Beta)

Another hotfix for Milestone 1 and it does not break save games, fixing some stability issues in 1.04.

Changelog:

  • Fixed a crash that could occur after finishing a tactical mission and returning to strategy.
  • Fixed an issue where throwing smoke grenades could cause the "enemy reinforcements have arrived" conversations to trigger early on the Cleaner Intel Hub / Cleaner Cell missions.
  • Pressing Esc when grenade throw mode is active now simply cancels grenade throw mode, and does not also open the game menu.

To be honest I'd wait for the next update tomorrow morning, which is going to break save games.

But if you really want to keep playing the current version, you need to load a save from the strategy layer and replay the tactical mission that crashed at the end.

I wasn't really paying attention, sorry. And while I legitimately played up to about day 110, I very much hurried through the last 70 days (ignoring uninteresting crash sites, cheat-winning new UFO crashes to get research items) just to see how the mid-game plays out before my savegame broke.

I don't know if it was deliberate as part of the balancing but there was a flurry of tough missions around 90-120 days, then it fell off a cliff.  I had a few UFO waves but no terror missions if I recall correctly (not that I'm complaining lol!).  I will make more of a note of what missions happen when next time I have a playthrough

Yeah, I was wondering the same in my "random thoughts" thread:

"Also, I feel the game kinda plateaus between day ~90 to day ~140 where the game offers nothing particularly intresting or new challenges. It's just a wave after a wave of destroyers and observers, later with escorts, but I got bored to be frank. I just intercepted UFO's, collected their bounties and concentrated or researching and manufacturing. Even the end game counter has risen to almost 50% without me doing anything to raise it. If it's too early to introduce alien bases at this point, it might be a good idea to mix in a terror mission or add a cleaner cell styled scripted mission or something here to spice up the mood."

Not everything is in the Game yet. Many Games I play get in Early Access-Phase (like U-Boat, Terra Invicta) big Improvements, which you didn´t expected. The same will be here.

I played the Game in the last Beta-Version fully through. It was very interessting with the advanced R & Ds, Upgrades and what have done there already. I give you right, that some cool Parts after the Cleaners (sadly not all 3 Cells are there in the Milestone, which is an Reason I don´t test it) are not integrated. The cool testet Parts will come again with some new ones during the Early Access Phase. But like said several Times, first the Gaps from R & D and similar to about 70% of the Game have to be closed, which the Devs and some Main-Beta-Testers already mentioned.
