mitrida
I would like to speak again about jet attack. For me it would be a nice addition. Could be do so: if you escort dropship with jet you can launch an attack from above once a battle. And it would be simple to implement i think. What do you think Chris? And if someone dislikes this you can disable this features Thanks

Unfortunately though I think it would be quite a bit of work. Several days of coding work to implement and then additional design work to figure out how best to do the UI / UX for calling in the airstrike, etc. And as we've got huge piles of important work to do / bugs to fix, I don't think I can justify spending that time on a feature that I don't think would actually improve the overall gameplay. asdfcyber
I think creating a mod that does this (should be doable) is better than adding to the base game, I agree with Chris that it doesn't really fit in
Ruggerman
Back in the 1990's The Xcom of the day, that is the original, you could develop a drop ship that was part alien aircraft buster, and troop transport, so that you could shoot down and then land and engage the alien saviors in ground base combat, so as to do an all in one aircraft. Just a thought, but could be the next level of aircraft design?
Alienkiller
Ruggerman, I understand what you mean. An Dropship you mean is integrated in UFO 2 ET-Basegame (there are atm sadly only 2 Researchable). This can be Equiped like the Original Skyranger with Guns and Missles. I don´t remember if the last Dropship from UFO 1 ET-Basegame / Gold-Version can be Equiped with Shields as Secondary-Minimum. But if we wanna that bring in for Xenonauts 2 the complete Air-Fighting System have to be changed to an similar System which the UFO ET-Series brings in (which is an Refited System from X-Com: Apocalypse). Ruggerman
The game I am speaking of was form Micropose from back in 1995, and I think that it was the first game of this type that was available in Australia in this Genre. With this aircraft you could shoot down alien ships, and then land and engage the remaining aliens in ground combat, it had a large compliment of troops inside to achieve this. Alienkiller
Ruggerman, I know exactly what you mean. I can´t remember the Names of the both big Fighter-Transports from X-Com: EU / TftD. Therefore I give the Example from the UFO ET-Series, where such big Transports with 3 to 4 Slots (Guns / Rockets with the since 2010+-Computer-Tech-Posibilitys Shields and Extra-Slot) show up. I can think of a fairly simplified way that would also add excitement to the game. Or at least simple in my mind compared to other possible ways of doing it, and exciting because it would be a reward for bothering to accompany the drop ship with a fighter and it would add an element that I think would be fun and hopefully not hard to do. What I would propose is this ... prior to troop deployment, you would pull up a screen similar to the 'Hidden Movement' one. This would be called 'Air Support' or something similar, and instead of hearing Aliens running around gunning down humans, you'd hear some indiscernible fighter pilot chatter, like 'Green Light, Foxtrot, Lighting Up Sector Z' or whatever comes to mind, lol ... mixed in with that you'd hear multiple explosions (might even just take the existing explosions from firing the grenade launcher, I wouldn't mind) and the strangled sounds of a few aliens dying, which wouldn't have to be on point with the number of aliens killed at all, this is just for flavor. Then after that phase, you'd simply use whatever random kill factor you already use for downed aircraft on the surviving aliens again, leaving you with a few less aliens to deal with. Corpses entirely optional, though for flavor, you might randomly assign fires to a few of the tiles to indicate evidence of the air strike. Once that was finished, you'd return to regular deployment of troops and let the fun continue.
