How do we cheat and get more money?

For the sake of testing, naturally.

It's kinda hard to playtest a particular glitch if we start from 5 mil. every time we start over, and if we have to start over with every update.

The items file in the assets folder gives you the sale value of items. You can just assign a huge amount for Alenium and Alien Alloys.

The gameconfig file allows you to adjust salaries, transfer costs and also the funding nations modifiers.

Pressing 'M' on the geoscape gives you a million. Pressing 'V' in the ground combat gives you immediate victory (with the aliens escaping).

M was disabled for the KS build and hasn't been reenabled afaik. V works, but should be disabled soon.

The post isn't off topic, doesn't seem to be advocating spending cash and the site it links to appears safe so I haven't deleted the post.

I will monitor though to see if there are any posts from that user that look suspicious.

Okay, I'm certainly very late into this conversation, and this "user" is obviously already gone, which alone proves this was spam, but if you go there with AdBlock installed, it actually tries to tell you that AdBlock breaks their site, that they don't run malicious ads anyway, but the extension blocks other links and resources. This is a lie, and could only be told out of complete utter ignorance, or because they are trying to run something AdBlock normally stops . . . like . . . malicious ads?

The guide itself is certainly not a spam or scam; it points you to Cheat Engine which is a memory scanner / editor that does indeed allow you to find and edit numerical stats of most pc games.

To get pass the AdBlock blocker, you can temporary disable JavaScript.  Note that although there are malicious ads, most ads blocked by AdBlock are genuine.  Software that stops only malicious ads are classified as anti-virus, and should not trigger hackerbot's adblock detection.

As for starting money, you can simply edit game config without any specialised tools. (which may trigger anti-cheat detections of games; the more you have the merrier it goes...)
