  1. I just hope you can avoid XCOM's "LoS magic" where all that matters are points A and B (shooter and target) while the ballistic implications of things in between get neglected.
  2. That was the rejected pilot "The Cage" although scenes from it were later used in one of the ToS episodes. It had that sassy dance scene, good stuff. [video=youtube;5dNGU772_cI] I honestly don't remember my first ToS ep, I was so young. It might have even been one of the movies. I couldn't even speak or understand English when I watched ST for the first time, just a kid staring at imagery.

  4. 'Cause Cain's a filthy alium and we don't take kindly to those 'round here.
  5. Goldhawk is a great name, the logo has a very positive association in gaming.
  6. It's not about the size, it's about how many heretics you exterminate with it.
  7. Dammit, someone burned down the fire alarm! If irony was bullets... *Commisar walks in* BLAM! BLAM!! BLAM!!!
  8. To be fair, that research seemed mostly related to music. It's not necessarily the same for games which probably don't rely as much on piracy advertising due to Steam, LPs, youtube in general, mainstream (p)reviews, etc. Granted, music has all these things as well but they don't seem as effective and small bands seem to have more trouble breaking through than indie developers for example. Maybe it's simply a matter of quantity and the fact that gamers are more "internet proficient".
  9. Wow, among all the AAA and other popular titles Xenonauts is leading in two states. Quite a compliment.
  10. Australian treachery. When the next invasion hits they might find their terror sites accidentally ignored.
  11. Camping? Is that like a euphemism for mass murder? And 'candies' are heretics I suppose.
  12. Why would the aliens have millions of planets? Maybe they only have a single homeworld like us or with a few colonies here and there.
  13. Squads don't kill people, firing does. Or was it the other way around? Whatever keeps the heresy down. Dropping a piano on it maybe. A burning one.
  14. On TotalWarCenter submods are subject to the original mod's author's good will. Most modders don't restrict submods but a few demand to review the submods first before they allow them to be publicly shared and a few don't allow any submods. However it should be noted that on TWC mods get their own sub-forum and sub-mods are shared on that same sub-forum which is controlled by the original mod's dev team.
  15. My thothkins dealer got busted by the commissariat. I need to find a new fix, I'm starting to get the shakthkins.
  16. This guy alone may have saved the game. Not saying Xenonauts wouldn't have gotten finished without him but Indiegogo could've been a disaster. If the game took 5 years (60 months) to finish and took 10 times longer than anticipated does that mean you initially expected to have it done in 6 months? In any case a great write up with lots of hard earned insight.
  17. Core features: - enclose pastures - watch jobless peasants flock to the cities - experience the atmosphere of destitute desperation - deluxe edition authentic life sized rotten potato replica
  18. All I hear is turn based, turn based, turn based, turn based. Consider my interest piqued.
  19. I think Rmory did all the "military stuff" for Xenonauts. There should be weapon variations and such as well somewhere over there. Like it says it's just concept art, most of it never made it past that stage.
  20. So the gameplay complexity of DF is entirely based on the obtuseness of its interface and visuals?
