  1. Well that would minimize the negative impact. As long as its thought about how to include it and not just bundled in there I guess its fine. I Withdraw my objection.
  2. True, but if its not bundles people will have to seek it out still. Less chance of people destroying their ejoyment becasue they simply can't balance it. I'm just worried about the marketing effect that will have if people can't properly manage such an effective/powerful tool and give illthought thrugh bad reviews for it.
  3. I'm not sure that would be a good idea. It's an editing tool, if it was bundled in the finished prduct a lot of people would overpower their weapons (to get through the game faster and easier) and lose a large bit of the enjoyment.
  4. Will there be hills in the non-urban maps? or will the only difference in elevation be second and thrid storey buildings?
  5. Was not my intent. I was just entertaining the idea of mentioning it humbly as information in their thread about remakes since it didnt seem listed there. It was mentioned but in the form of a question about the xenonaut website beeing down for a week. I agree that we shouldnt spam or claim its better. (especially since very little is known about the firaxis version). I wanted to get peoples attention not start some kind of flamewar. I'm going to put more thought into how it can be mentioned before aproaching their forum.
  6. What about posting on 2k/firaxis X-com forum? Right now i'm stareing at a thread about X-com remakes with links to playable projects (although xenonauts isnt in that list) PS. Btw now that the owners of the IP are doing a "real" remake of the IP (instead of the FPS thingy) and directly competeing with Goldhawk interactive they might be more protective of their frenchise. Is there any chance you will get in trouble for copyright infringement or are you sure you have stayed well clear of that Chris? I'm assuming there won't be any real trouble since its the community that uses X-com rather then anything ingame but will there be a chance they cause frivilous trouble nontheless to protect their IP? I should probably make sure of that before i make any decition to "invade" their public forums DS.
  7. That's some really odd phraseing Jean-Luc What. Problems with preorder? =P Í meant was with this increased media focus on both Firaxis and GoldenhakInteractive's games dont you thin alot of people that would want to buy Xenonauts or X-com would preorder it to play at the beta stage? (assuming its completly playable and only need a bit of polish) I mean the game is technically already for sale with a delivered product, even if it isnt finished. There have been games that has released a bit early and needed patches post release to really complete the game (fixing gamebreaking things mostly). So technically the idea of getting the game when its almost done and haveing it worked on a bit more as the large masses play it shouldnt be completly unthinkable. But I guess it depends on how you handle the marketing and when you decide to go from calling it alpha to calling it beta. If you switch it late and make a comparably big thing of it it might work wonders. Maybe I'm beeing optimistic and overestimating peoples wish o buy the game when it's techincally possibly to complete it but i still wouldnt rule out that it has marketing value.
  8. Considering that we are preordering (and playing) it now wouldn't just hitting the beta stage beofore Firaxis releases be the same thing as beating them to the release?
  9. Cold war setting Straker! duh! (was intending to post "Thats why it will be so recognizable as a reference to "doctor who" but got reminded in another thread that this isnt modern time its cold war era.)
  10. Just to be clear what screenshot are we talking about? The one with the soldier crouching behind a car with a grey in the headlights or? Isn't that more of a conceptual art / teaser poster? I don't think its anything ingame or intro movie. If that is not the screenshot you are talking about could you link it? PS. The way i see it Chris has an advantage that as an Indie studio the comunity will take it upon itself to advertise (especially if you have already invested money into the preorder) to get it out thre. We will find ways to get knowledge about it spread. And there are already a few ways to find your way here when searching for X-com. I myself found my way through wikipedia of all things. DS
  11. 1993-2004. I was too young for the -92 option, and I really dislike the "gotta look good even if it smells (read plays) like crap" mentality going on.
  12. Facebook groups? Dont use facebook much but that seems to be the standard way?
  13. Not if you get to hand the medals ut manually. For some reason I really like the manual medal idea. Would that be a generic "badge of honour" where you get to type in your own description as to why he got it or would it be a specific medal selected out of a list? I think i'd prefere number 1. (Tbh im not much for small things giving individual boosts like that. It might feel like a cool idea but it makes everything so much harder to balance if you have to take those things into consideration. Maybe someone can add it in modding later on after the release of the game but i'd like it to stay out of the official release.) PS. Fallen list at the end? of what? the game? I thought the idea was to have the fallen list acessible during gameplay. After the war has been won fallenlist wont really make you more attached to your soldiers. DS
  14. If something like that can be implemented yes That would be alot better then indestructable.
  15. I like that hes essentially a red shirt both literrally and metaphorically.
  16. Haha little eastereggs/homages like that are awesome imo. (Although I think Chris would have to make it indestructable then considering how hard it is to destroy a T.A.R.D.I.S.)
  17. Sorry, that was a "Doctor Who" reference. "Cybermen" are "allergic" to gold and nearly invincible to all other sort of assult. The hard way is baisicly suicide. Any chance we can spot or shoot down a blue policebox ingame? (ah good ol fallout days when you spotted the policebox fadeing out as a random encounter... and the bridge keeper from monty python. )
  18. Would that mean if you shot at the floor in a 3x3 area with a lazer or plasma weapon that the tiles above start falling down? Without a single wall or or roof being shot out? (Assuming the room is larger then 9 squares) And wouldnt you as a player want to avoid I bet a lot of players would be annoyed with that and think Chris was just beeing sloppy.
  19. What did you hate about Bioshock? I was looking forward to the powers but playing it at a friend made it feel like they were trying to hard with the scarey atmospher and things jumping out at you.
  20. Cybermen? Do we have any gold dust to defeat them or are we going to kill them the hard way?
  21. Why does it mention " sector" and "75 million years" then? Now it's just scareing the crap out of me.
  22. The idea that a speicies needs to travel around the stars, land on a moon belonging to a planet with life and extinguish the life in it's reproduction cycle has some how evolved doesnt make sense. There would be other evolutionary paths that would be much more benefitial and lasting evolving long before this solution. Yes they do, and please lets bury this discussion. It's pissing me off way to much.
