Hands down, I like Xenonauts' style much more, although I can't be sure since I'm basing my comparisons off a teaser picture and not actual game footage. I have a feeling Firaxis is going to go for a realistic next-gen graphics approach, which I can't say I'm too fond of.

Professional editing is not needed! I was sold on this game as soon as I saw TB's video, which I'm pretty sure was shot with a camera on a tri-pod pointed at the screen If you do any videos, be sure to post them here so we can share them

I'm really excited to hear more about this, but I'm pretty skeptical as well. I like the fact that it'll be coming out for consoles though, my Ps3 really needs some good strategy game love. Anyways, I'm sure Xenonauts will do just fine; it has it's own style, and judging by the teaser pictures for Firaxis' game, a better style!

There's a character named Tyrone? Must read. Will report on thoughts later.

@ZeElfenWaffe Thank you! That suggestions is great, I'm going to try it right now! @anotherdevil I'm really excited to try out the new Jagged Alliance, but I'm a little skeptical about the real-time movement. I hope it turns out alright.

[V8.41 - Ground Combat] Hunter Pathing

I think he means a wall that you've partially destroyed, but isn't completely gone yet "(The step just before just a crater)". -
What features would you like in the Funding Thermometer?
Brosama replied to Chris's topic in Xenonauts General Discussion
I really love the idea of an art booklet. It could also double as an actual book form of the Xenopedia or something, that would be really cool. -
Not sure why I've put off posting in this thread for so long; I guess I'm not one for introductions. Anyways, I'm an independent games supporter/enthusiast, an aspiring musician and writer, and most likely younger than all of you. I adore a lot of older games, and games that have an emphasis on gameplay over graphics (not to say nice graphics aren't a bonus though!). My computer can't really handle any AAA games that were made past 2005 anyways, which I'm sure had some contribution towards my love for indie games. I appreciate everything that the Goldhawk team is doing for the X-Com fanbase, and I look forward to sticking around here and getting to know some of you!

The only time I'll make my dwarves haul a bunch of stone to a dumpsite is when I'm making a stockpile, otherwise, if it's really bugging me (like in a meeting area where there is a lot of activity), I'll just use the hide command.
-
Haha that sounds fun. I haven't experienced anything like that yet, but one of my dwarves fell down a hole or something, and was knocked unconscious . What are your starting strategies? What kind of rooms do you guys like to build first?
-
Haha, touché. I felt inspired to take another crack at the game with a few tutorials at hand! After a few hours of fumbling around the confusing GUI, and staring mindlessly at the vast expanses of little symbols, I finally got the hang of some really basic functions. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface though, I think I just dropped a pin on it. Anyways, I'm pretty hooked right now. I've set up a dining room, bedrooms, workshops for my mason and carpenter, and a farm, and so on. Now I'm planning on setting up a brewery so my dwarves can be nice and drunk all year long P.S: Has anybody played Towns? It's an indie game that's very heavily dwarf fortress inspired. The graphics are really bad though, but I think they're just temporary until the game is out of alpha (I hope).
-
I've attempted to play Dwarf Fortress multiple times, but the learning curve has always knocked me on my ass and left me confused and frustrated. I hear the game can be insanely fun and addictive once you get the hang of it, so I'll most likely open up some beginners guides next time I try.

Ah, that's not what I meant, sorry. By "it would be weird" I meant that it would be a big change from casual gaming that attracts a much younger audience to complex strategy games as you said. Not that that's a bad thing though I agree that any publicity Xenonauts gets would be good.
-
Wow, that was quick! We appreciate your hard work
-
Having a Minecraft LP-er do a let's play of Xenonauts would be weird. I'd love to see TotalBiscuit do one though. Watching other people play Xenonauts would be really interesting, especially in combat where you can observe their tactics.

Oh ho ho ho. Maybe the Tralfamadorians are trying to send a message.

This isn't the first bug I've found in V8.2, but all the other ones that I have found are quite obvious; I'm sure Chris is aware of them. This bug happened when I tried to move one of my troops through the front doorway that belongs to the building all the way up in the top right corner of the map. My soldier completely froze up after attempting to walk through the aforementioned doorway. He would not walk backwards, he would not shoot, he would not turn, etc. I ended up having to just leave him there for the rest of the battle. Here's a screenshot: Happy bug-hunting!

It's just been released! (For me, anyways.)
-
That's too bad about your trip being cut short, sounds like you had a nice time though. Can't wait to see the update
-
Yep, I've updated Here's what I posted in the V8 resolution bug thread: (Here's what the 90 degrees thing is doing )I didn't think I should make a whole thread for it, since it seems to be working fine for others.

[V8.0 - General] Game Resolution.
Brosama replied to Sathra's topic in Xenonauts Bug Reports / Troubleshooting
I only get two options for resolution, 1200 x 1600 and 1024 x 1280, they're both on the list twice though, which is weird because I swear the first time I opened it it gave me 4 separate choices.
