TNoyce
The title says it all.. Just curious if there is a key you can press in game to save a screen shot. I've been wanting to include them with a couple bug reports, but have not been able to create one in-game when its running full screen. anotherdevil
you could do the usual, and press the 'print screen' button. This then copies the screen at the time you pressed it and you can then paste this image in paint/photoshop etc. You can do this anytime too, not just in Xenonauts
Sathra
I've been using 'screen capturer'. Some program I found for the LP. Its a bit weird though. Oh crap, I'm meant to be writing an LP. Whoops. Completely forgot about it. I'll get right on that...after some DF.
anotherdevil
No Sathra, you have been absent for too long! Half of Cobra is dying of starvation, and the rapid breeding augmentations that Doc Martin worked up for the weasels has not only failed to keep up with the demand for food, but also made them less palatable than before! Get back to the LP!
Sathra
But...Toady added beekeeping. BEEKEEPING.
TNoyce
Hmm.. I tried CTRL-PRINT screen & ALT-PRINT screen, and neither of these got the Xenonauts screen. I'll try just the 'plain' print screen, and see if this works. Note that I do not generally run in windowed mode.
anotherdevil
you don't have to run it in windows mode. Print screen takes a photo of the screen, whether you're in windowed mode or not. The only thing it doesn't do is then save that image as anything, that's why you need to go into paint etc. and cntr-v to get the image, then save it manually. @ Sathra, have you ever tried surviving on just honey? Honey covoured chuck is nice, but honey covered honey... not many of your necessary vitamins in that... Edited December 8, 2011 by anotherdevil Honey is nice
Sathra
Ugh, honey...horrible stuff. Only good for attracting vast swarms of vermin in my opinion.
anotherdevil
Then write us some more LP! Half the team probably wont fit in their armour any more, not after eating all that honey =p
Silent_Thunder
Ugh last time i tried any outside activity in DF, Badgermen decided my fort was a cool place to hang out at. I've never seen a dwarf reduced to so many peices. I was finding fingers and toes everywhere.
Sathra
Still trying to get a fort running with a properly equipped militia BEFORE the ambushes start. Its...taking a while.
Pixel
I recommend Fraps (free): http://www.fraps.com/download.php You can run it in the background and bind a key for taking screenshots (default is F10).
Chris
I still can't figure out DF, even though I very much want to. The GUI makes me want to weep (although I think that's intentional to keep it more hardcore).
TNoyce
I've made a few abortive attempts. I just don't have the amount of time required to really get 'in' to the game. I'm certain I'd enjoy it if I could though. It's an amazing piece of work.
Silent_Thunder
Well this is the guide I used to learn back in the day http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/ Also I see we've completely derailed the thread, quite fitting, seeing how often threads on bay 12 derail. Sathra
DF isn't too hard to get used to. I keep the wiki open all the time though. Last time I played it was before the burrows update. Always play with graphics packs though, the default look is just...demented. There's a difference between reading a game, and being able to enjoy it
Silent_Thunder
ASCII all the way. Then again, I remember Nethack, so maybe I'm just used to ASCII in all its glory. Also maybe we should make a DF thread in Off Topic instead of using a hijacked thread.
Sathra
Eh sure. Off I go!
TNoyce
Just wanted to say that print screen by itself does work.
anotherdevil
lol, and all these people with their silly super complicated methods, and the humble 'print screen' key is the winner =p
Moonie
I know it's a daft question but where do I find the screen shots I have saved?
Sathra
Where you saved them? Xenonauts doesn't have its own screenshot utility thing.
Chris
Print Screen saves an image to the clipboard. You have to paste them into an image in Paint or Photoshop or something.
