Knox1776
What file do I need to look at to alter the time it takes to manufacture new items?
Giovanni
open assets/manufactures.xml with MS office or similar, the value you are looking for is in the column "Unit days". Just remember to click on "keep current format" when prompted when saving the file!

Volcris
I can't seem to open this with open office, and opening it with XML viewers is not very useful. Is there an alternative to Microsoft Excel that can open this? I don't want to put down the money for an office code right now.
Max_Caine
If you don't mind looking at raw code, I use Notepad when looking at the XML files. EDIT: OpenOffice is the free alternative.
Volcris
I don't mind, but I have trouble following it >< I guess I'll download office viewer so I can tell which numbers I'm looking for in the code EDIT: downloaded office viewer, and it refuses to open it. If any one with a working knowledge of xml files could help me, it would be much appreciated . I do not regularly work with code (the most I have ever done is set up small servers for games like minecraft). Gauddlike
The file has a key near the top. If you skip all of the stuff until you get to the first block of strings it tells you what each line means. The confusing part is that if an attribute isn't used for a specific item it is usually deleted completely which can make the lines harder to follow. <Row> <Cell><Data ss:Type="String">ManTech.Laserpistol</Data></Cell> <Cell><Data ss:Type="String">SoldierWeapons</Data></Cell> <Cell><Data ss:Type="Number">20</Data></Cell> <Cell><Data ss:Type="Number">20000</Data></Cell> <Cell><Data ss:Type="String">10xItems.Alienalloys</Data></Cell> <Cell><Data ss:Type="String">manufacture/ManTech.Laserpistol</Data></Cell> <Cell ss:Index="8"><Data ss:Type="String">StockItem( "weapon.laserpistol" );</Data></Cell> </Row> That tells you that the item is a laser pistol. It sits in the Soldier Weapons section of the factory UI. Has a completion time of 20 days. A cost of $20000. Requires 10 alien alloys to produce. The image displayed will be in the manufacture folder and named mantech.laserpistol And the final line means when the job finishes a laser pistol is added to your stores. Some of the flags aren't used at the moment or only used for certain items. Once you play with the files for a bit in notepad you get the hang of them. It is easier in an xml or spreadsheet editor though. I was told about something called sheetster which might do the trick, apparently there is a free version if you can find it. Disclaimer: not tried it myself, might be rubbish, require payment, be riddled with the pox, imaginary, or any combination of the above. Volcris
Thank you very much! I was able to originally read the code, but couldn't make sense of the numbers. Now that I know the large number is cost, the small number is days of labor, I can edit it with a xml reader. Very informative response. GoodGuyEddy
I say make the manufacturing time for the mig two years. Otherwise it wouldn't be hardcore enough.
