Kiel
Sometimes my plasma rifles hit Androns with 5 damage. Sometimes damage goes up to 90. Why that much dispersion? The target is within the effective fire range.
silencer
Sometimes aliens hit with burst fire 3 times from 2 screens away, while my soldiers miss those 95% often. So in both cases: "Because AI cheats".
Solver
Because they have armour. Every shot you make can hit for anywhere between 50% and 150% of base damage, but Androns also have armour (20 I think), decreasing the damage taken. Say, a shot vs a fresh Andron, does 25 damage, 20 goes to armour, only 5 damage done. Later the guy's armour degrades, you get a better shot, yay, lots of damage! ViniJones
All Androns Are Assholes. What Solver said is true, although the sheer randomness in damage is a bit overboard imo.
Kiel
Solver, can you explain how does armour degradation work?
Huntota
How do you even know the damage you deal?
ViniJones
How do you even know the damage you deal? The damage shows above the target you hit in colored numbers. Mind you this is turned off on the insane difficulty.
Solver
Solver, can you explain how does armour degradation work? Off the top of my head, it simply degrades by the amount of damage blocked. So if it blocked 5 damage, it degrades by 5. Then armour reaches 0 and stops blocking anything.
kabill
Off the top of my head, it simply degrades by the amount of damage blocked. So if it blocked 5 damage, it degrades by 5. Then armour reaches 0 and stops blocking anything. There's a (moddable) 0.25 modifier too, so armour is reduced by 1/4 of the damage blocked. E.g. if you have 40 points of armour and get hit for 70 damage, the soldier takes 30 damage and their armour value is reduced to 30 (40/4 = 10; 40-10 = 30). Ragnarok
You can alter the 50 % increase/decrease damage range to any percent value you like. I suggest 25 to 30 for a less gimmicky experience.
