  1. Yeah, I hate beta testing games. I see it as a big sacrifice to play a very buggy unfinished build that (for me) just spoils the fun and "newness" of the game after release. When I pre-ordered it definitely wasn't so I could beta test. Still, I might give in to temptation, haven't yet.
  2. Yeah, in X-Com lasers were human tech but the setting was also a futuristic one. Since, afaik, effective handheld laser/energy weapons still don't exist today in 2011/12 it makes sense that they'd need to be based on alien technology in the 70's.
  3. Big mistake Chris, now everyone's gonna want one.
  4. Placing bases near the edges of the map is quite wasteful on a 2D map but I too liked having outposts on the ice caps, namely the Arctic. I mean c'mon, a secret underground base in the Arctic? It's a classic: http://www.theonion.com/articles/melting-ice-caps-expose-hundreds-of-secret-arctic,2806/ I suppose the poles just aren't relevant enough to feature on a 2D map
  5. Haven't read the article yet but when you mentioned randomization and how it can generate the game's story, I immediately thought of Dwarf Fortress and similar games. I'd love to see an X-Com style game featuring that kind of dynamic randomization-based world. Basically it'd need to be a sandbox game where you defend a randomly generated world/planet from alien invasion. Things like special places, events, technologies, resources, NPC aliens/factions, artifacts, end-game scenarios etc. would need to be seeded randomly but within certain parameters to make the game playable. It feels like a very difficult game to conceptualize but I dunno.
  6. Great of you to offer Vorgx, it's always warming to witness the enthusiasm of X-Com fans.
  7. Chris is a proud subject of the Queen, it says so under his avatar.
  8. Try this: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?145-How-to-claim-your-Pre-Order-forum-badge! It's the sticky just above this thread.
  9. The old forum had both FAQ and a "FMS" (frequently made suggestions) thread iirc. Now we only have a FMS thread but it's actually the FAQ thread as it only contains faqs and no fms'.
  10. A "kneel reserve" button could be added that can be used on its own or combined with the other reserve options to take kneeling into account. So, "reserve AP for snap shot" + "reserve AP for kneeling" = "reserved ap for both kneeling and snap shot" Now, what to do about the goddamn turning?
  11. I think there's a misunderstanding here. AD's talking about the "frequently made suggestions" thread (in which you yourself posted) while you're thinking of a thread for "frequently suggested topics(?)" which we indeed do not have.
  12. Bonus waiting time is the very reason why I went Premium.
  13. Thanks for the sitrep. Having specific roles for different weapon categories is a great idea imo.
  14. You mean being fast but not on track? Immediately reminds me of a train crash.
  15. Combat shields are also great against beer cans, rocks, rolls of flaming toilet paper and charging chavs. Get those alien hooligans.
  16. That's just for the beta and it goes for everyone. Of course you get the full game regardless of the buying option. Premium pre-orders might be rewarded with some free dlc but I'm not sure. There should be an announcement regarding that fairly soon.
  17. You can see here: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forum/ (just read the first two paragraphs). V8 should be out very soon. Edit: Yeah, basically what Hosser said.
  18. You can download a demo from Steam or any other google-able source: http://www.fileplanet.com/221898/220000/fileinfo/Might-&-Magic-Heroes-VI-Demo
  19. Wasn't really asking for IDF-ettes in the game, just some fun speculation. But Israeli women seem to be making a good point when it comes to female military service.
  20. It should simply auto-update via Desura just like when a new patch is released on Steam.
