  1. Oooh, shiney! Variety is always welcome. Nice fitting pictures, too. Toxic grenades could probably benefit from some glow (many original xenopedia pictures are using it).
  2. You should post on ebay if you didn't already. Collectioners, museums and universities are your best bet — but don't expect much. Props to you, StellarRat. Always nice to meet such an experienced person.

  4. I'm just from there. It feels anything but slower. Rookies with static TUs are roughly the same as the ones with the %. Yes, you'll have to compensate universality of the previous soldiers by the scouting (those who scout mostly move and rarely shoot, at least at the same turn), position your snipers and HWs to cover suspicious areas and minimise their movement for the next couple of turns. You swap the turns more often, and this isn't exactly feels like counter-dynamic. For the situations solved earlier with "move-shoot-hide" i now have to use quite a bit of various tactics.
  5. Stating reasons makes everything better. Even though you aren't obliged to do so, it lays a solid base under the controversial decision. I kind of like Skitso's point of view, with TU leveling significantly nerfed, with the max difference of 15-20% between rookie and lategame veteran. But percentage system is nice too. Game feels more dynamic from the start, and keep its challenge through the session. I just wonder if the soldier will be able to get TU's enough to fire and reload rpg at the same turn, wouldn't it be too op?
  6. This forum needs its own memorial page then.
  7. Latest experimental build broke the quick reload button. Inventory reload works.
  8. Just a question. Does the aircraft that run out of fuel in a middle of a fight supposed to drop it's speed to the turtle levels? Two of my planes were escaping, while scout was chasing first, second lost its fuel in the opposite corner of the map. I've to wait and watch for a minute for the scout to turn, fly through entire screen and catch the second plane.
  9. Overall it seems fun, nothing rage inducing actually. But i may just be used to the big changes and seen as this game was in a lot less polished state. 10 battles with ceasans and sebillians, alien accuracy seems good. There are lucky hits and close misses, both within expected borders. Stupid playstyles are punished properly. And i've managed to do a flashbang-shotgun saucer cleaning within one turn, which was awesome. Heavy weapon guys (girls) in a jackal armor are essentially moving turrets, but that's okay. Move into position, then fire. Moving and firing at the same turn is now a privilege of the veterans, with appropriate aim penalty. I'd like to hear actual developers opinion on why did they move away from percentage TU system of the X-Com and why returned it now. Though I'm sure there is an old thread that describes this already.
  10. And thus the Commissar walked away, leaving the corpse behind. He dealt with the problem the only way he could accept, and nothing in this world, be it gods or demons, could change his mind. And those OUT of this world, which can, were buried deep down in his syrup soul. Something he couldn't overlook with his steel-cold eyes, something common between him and that man. Something about the way one should deal with his problems. Commissar kept this knowledge. He knew the corpses couldn't lie.
  11. "Pancakes, i'm your father." — last words of the Commissar Stalin before death.
  12. Could it be... *gasp*.. the pink-dressed sebillian? But it's truth. Making sprites is a vast amount of work. Adding a new weapon automatically means you have to add full range of sprites for every alien and every xenonaut armour.
  13. I guess tripping over the furniture is the new derailing.
  14. I miss the days when we have at least somewhat educational shows. now it's all like:
  15. Oh. Sad news indeed. But i still think it's generally worth to buy couple of early access games, those you are especially fond of. Even if they will fall apart and never see the final version, process is what matters.
  16. So, even you acknowledge this, commissar. It's good i've get rid of a last TV in my house a long time ago.
  17. You didn't answer. What stops me from taking 20 grenades on urban assault to lob them around corners? The answer isn't that simple as just "they will react in a meaningful manner". This game have its means to implement somewhat simultaneous actions. For example, "Throw it back" tactics nonwithstanding, most obvious course of action will be to hide. This can be emulated via some kind of "reaction ducking", minimizing grenade damage before it explodes. Spending reaction points on actions is already in place and functioning. Of course, this won't save anyone from 20 grenades, but then again, even in RL, what will? Things like collateral damage and, most importantly, limited supplies come in mind, as well as general danger of using explosives. If you are throwing consecutively, latter ones can be thrown back in your face by earlier blasts. Shards and pieces will be everywhere, blastwaves will add up, and probably it's not a good idea after all. These things can't be modelled easily, and that's why it's hard to balance some aspects of grenades.
  18. Why don't they do this in real life?
  19. Don't forget you are one of them. There are lot of people who spend much more time to help and guide others here, including, but not limited by Thotkins, Max_Caine, Gauddlike, Sathra, Jean-Luc, Gorlom, Commissar Paincakes, Skitso, Jsleezy, GizmoGomez, and more. It is a great community and it's nice to be part of it. "Xenonauts community member" title is a medal itself.
  20. Assumption was that since your crash is quite unique, it has something to do with your system feature, which could be rare hardware/driver error or some software conflict. If so, general dump analysis would give me something, at least library name. It should be mentioned that beside such quick glance .dmp files are useless for everyone but developers since the source code is needed to analyze them properly. There are plenty of ways to open dmp, including free view programs like Windbg. I've used Visual studio, it told me that exception was in GvOsd.dll, googled that, found utility name and number of reports about crashing games. That's all of it.
  21. At first glance, culprit is the GvOsd.dll, which is a part of Gigabyte OC Guru II Utility. That's what i found on the case: via [link] There are more reports about this program conflicting with several games. If you do have it, try to disable/uninstall it (don't forget to reboot after uninstalling).
  22. If you can upload it somewhere, i'd take a look on it.
