  1. Yeah we've got a few ideas for anti-psi gear.
  2. At the moment hills aren't planned, but I was thinking about this yesterday. We might have to implement them. The problem with them is that is' very difficult to have submaps that have different elevations next to each other, but for the desert and arctic tilemaps it might be necessary. I'm not sure there'll be enough variation in the maps otherwise.
  3. The new version should fix this. In V8.5 there was a 1/3 chance the UFO would spawn in an inaccessible location but that should now be 0%.
  4. Of course, we've not built enough maps to use it properly, but that will change in the near future.
  5. We're fine IP wise. You can't copyright game mechanics and we've not used any of their IP.
  6. V8.6 (when it gets authorised on Desura) has a fix for the hidden movement injury bug, so hopefully that will cure this bug. If not, please post it up again or necro this thread. It does sound a bit concerning.
  7. An update to V8.5 has been uploaded to Desura and is now authorised. It has one new feature and a bunch of bugfixes that should smooth the experience a little more: NIGHT MISSIONS: These should sometimes be generated when you attack a crashsite at night, although I think it has to be right in the middle of night at the moment for some reason (I'm going to follow it up to work out why it's not happening all the time). Anyway, this basically just gives the maps reduced sight range - soldiers have 60% of the normal sight range as 'lit tiles' around them, and cannot see aliens that are not on lit tiles. To make things a bit easier, on a night mission all soldiers are automatically equipped with two flares each, which are thrown like grenades and will light up an area around them. Have a play, and see what you think. I imagine tweaks will be needed but it seems to be working OK. Also, night missions are HARD because the aliens still have unlimited sight range (unless blocked by walls etc), so they'll happily pick you off despite the darkness. Again, this'll change somewhat when the new AI model is done. BUGFIXES: - Alien fighter squadrons should no longer cause crashes when interceptors they are tracking return to base - The pop-up alert for attacking crashsite should no longer remain in ground combat missions - UFOs should no longer spawn with access doors on the edge of the map (and thus inaccessible) in ground combat missions - Lockups in the alien Hidden Movement phase should be less frequent now - Alien weapons will no longer cause a crash when equipped - Precision laser will no longer cause a crash when equipped - Machineguns now have a clip of 50 and each burst will consume 5 shots. - The basic armour with the machinegun should no longer display Wolf armour - Unarmed soldiers should display the correct sprites now. - Probably some other small fixes I've forgotten about I'm currently trying to set up these render servers that I bought. I might post some pics up on the forum at some point, because it's quite amusing. I assumed that they'd be relatively inoffensive things but they're a square metre or so each and weigh 30kgs, and sound like a tornado when they're switched on. No idea where I'm going to put them!
  8. Yup, plasma pistols require research before the plasma rifle at the moment. We may change that in future but it makes more sense from the point of view of the research text this way.
  9. Hmmm, having slept on it and shot some dudes in BF3, I'm a bit cheerier about the whole thing. It's bad news for us that Firaxis are wading into the ring (because they're good at what they do) and it's bad news its only 6-9 months away from release. This is mostly because of the advertising muscle behind them, and the fact we don't have enough cash to suddenly accelerate development to beat them to market. It's not the end of the world, though. I doubt we'll make a financial loss on Xenonauts in any case and hopefully it'll focus the team on the task at hom (and me). If we can get a complete beta out before they release their game, I think we've got a good chance of piggybacking off their publicity. Or something. It does mean we're going to have to significantly step up our marketing efforts though. I need to sit down and work out what we're going to do on that front.

  11. Hmmm, I could probably release an additional bugfix with night missions added tomorrow. That'd be V8.6.
  12. It's not taken into account for the 'cover save' for the soldier, but it's taken into account in the accuracy % of the hit (they're slightly different things). All the accuracy / cover info is on the wiki if you're interested.

  14. Yup, you're free to stream the game and do whatever you want with the build provided it's clear this is not a finished game and not all the content is in place yet. It's probably not quite finished enough to do a proper Let's Play yet (as there's only one battlefield map) but it's not far off it.
  15. Hmmm, strange. Have you guys also had games where you can manufacture the items in V8.5, or has manufacturing failed every time?

  17. Yeah, there's unlimited storage space. Just makes things a bit simpler really.
  18. The only other change I'd make is having the Single Fire Mode shot accuracy levels (of which there is up to four) as seperate lines with checkboxes for each one (although a checkbox can only be ticked if the preceeding one is checked). Then I'd have the AP cost and Accuracy value for each line beside the checkboxes, with them greyed out of the checkbox is not selected. Right now the scrollbar-box looks a bit difficult to use. Also, bear in mind some weapons like the machinegun cannot single-fire and there doesn't appear to be a way to manually disable single-fire right now
  19. We already have idle animations done for the models but we're rendering them last.
  20. Ah yeah - you can't actually buy new Chinooks. Hmm. Probably should fix that up.
