  1. Woot, well done Goldhawk for reaching your target in less than 72 hours! =)
  2. Could you take the percussion instruments from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46Zp3eBsJc4 to make a beefy air combat tune? That sure would be sweet. Its also period friendly haha.
  3. Have you tried launching in safe mode to see if that does anything? It might be your soundcard/drivers.
  4. As it should be. He might also go beserk in the alien ship and kill half the enemy on the AI turn! =)
  5. Yeah its not a massive amount, but probably still the equivalent to around a years wages for 2 or 3 team members which is nice. Its probably already equivalent to the amount they have made in pre-sales on Desura (this is just conjecture) so its nice to see. With this model I suppose you probably want to break-even by launch time so that anything after is profit. Wonder how many people go in for pre-orders though, 40-50% of future buyers?
  6. I've noticed that the fighters often spawn just before scouts and corvettes and agressively attack my fighter wings. Pretty much forces me to take them on first, go back to base, refuel and rearm and if I'm lucky get into a 2nd engagement (but many times missing the turkey). Tbh that is a good conundrum to face as far as I am concerned.
  7. Beserk would be cooler if it was a reaction fire modifier (twitchy trigger finger) for the soldier failing the test. Anyone who moves into his cone of vision (alien or human) would cause the reaction fire. Essentially he's jumping at shadows!
  8. 30+ ahem. I was born in 1986 and I was brought up on games like Ufo: Enemy Unknown for the Amiga. And Rebelstar for the Amstrad which till this day is the only game my 67 year old dad was ever any good at, haha.
  9. Maybe recuperation should be much longer, i.e. a month for a 50% wounded guy and 2 months for a 99% wounded one. Then you really do have to train up rookies but you will want to throw a party when your veteran arrives back on base!
  10. Could the Hunter not be equipped with flares and or/smoke grenades? There would be no need for a secondary weapon since these launchers are usually fitted to the side of armour.
  11. I had two suggestions regarding the stat modifiers. I am not sure if something similar is in use because I don't have a full view of how experience is assigned currently; other than AP gain is related to AP used, accuracy to shots fired and bravery to panic tests. Hopefully this brings something new to the table. 1. Soldiers should get an increase to bravery if they are wounded during a mission. This means that soldiers still become braver just by being on the sharp end of the stick (i.e. your shotgun/breaching soldiers). This represents the fact that they are become less afraid of taking enemy fire as they already have the belief that they can survive it. 2. Soldiers that are wounded should lose some of their strength and or/AP values. It goes without saying that coming back from an injury is a long process and they should not be able to immediately. This might mean that in the late game you have a few grizzled veterans who are fantastic shots, super brave (or indifferent) but who run with a cripple or have a damaged leg that prevents them from being a super soldier (I don't mean in animation, just in stats). Meanwhile your list of pristine soldiers who have never been injured becomes shorter and you value them even more (not wanting to risk putting them through the door first for example). If anyone is able to shed a light onto whether these things already happen within the system or are to be implemented then that would be swell.
  12. Then some other person has to pay $500 to bring it back
  13. Pledge $1000 and we will remove all existence of one country of your choice from the world map.
  14. It doesn't show up on the end mission screen either. So you may have one but just not know it!
  15. Talking of which, what about having red flares surrounding the landing site for the chinook? Providing there are soldiers already on the map that is...
  16. Head lamps on cars would be awesome. But very difficult if not impossible to do in 2d? Street lamps would be quite easy though, just invisible flares on the ground with the appropriate shaded street lamp.
  17. Yeah it is great. I'd love to hear a few different battlescape pieces though. Perhaps a different one for the tile set in question.
  18. I agree with this. I think that the starting armour should offer only projectile protection. You should have to research an armour that is designed to offer even minimal protection against plamsa weapons. Wouldn't need to be manufactured, just replace the stats of Jackal armour to represent the fact your scientists have found a new way of protecting against plasma. Kevlar isn't very good at dissipating heat after all. As it stands, my guy can still storm a UFO with two reptillians inside, take a single reaction fire shot into the Jackal armour and then throw a grenade killing both. I'd rather this ability was something that had to be earned only after losing several soliders to plasma fire in the first few missions.
  19. Don't want rid of it. Just think 30 or 40 seconds is far too long in the day and age of SSD drives, 16gb ram and quad core processors even if it is in the spirit of the original xcom (which I'm sure had slow turn times because of hardware limitations). Yes I would like this. Not necessary for my operatives though.
  20. Maybe if someone pledges $1000 they should have their portrait in the artwork of the Scientist, Technician, Soldier that Chris is planning. Difficult and unlikely I know, but awesome!
