X-Xenonaut
Since they Boosted the aliens into a death squad.. no complaints. Could it be possible to see new tech like motion detectors or infer red, or something crazy and new. It was a useful tool in xcom and would make a great addition to xenonauts. By the way we can all agree that this game is awesome
Chris
It was a Kickstarter stretch goal, but we didn't get the money for it (and people didn't vote for it as much as the new tilesets). It was an idea we had in the back of our heads for a while but I think we've now accepted we're too late in development to put it in now. Maybe post-release, if we're feeling generous. StellarRat
If I had to choose between motion detectors and something else I'd pick proximity fused explosive weapons or flame weapons way before motion detection. I never found motion detection particularly useful in the OG. The range was very limited and it couldn't tell you what level the aliens were on plus the implementation was kind of wonky. You had to spend TU and do it before you moved your own soldiers plus if the screen was closed you had to spend TU all over again to see the screen. I'd be more in favor of a motion detector that was a continuous "mini-map" type of device so aliens would appear as soon as they moved if you were within range and it would show them until the next turn with no additional expenditure of TU. The player would choose to expend TU to scan at any point in their turn. It would be a percentage of the soldiers remaining TU and from then on during the soldiers turn the detection would remain "active". So, if a soldier had fired once then decided to move his remaining 30 TU you would reduced that by say 50% as the "scanning" cost and he could move the equivalent of 15 TU with an "active" scan running. thothkins
If it came to the chance of any post release generosity, I'd happily take what I was given. Even if it meant parting with some pennies.
Nick7532
I would perfer tripwire explosives to motion sensors. I mean, they still function like motion sensors in the thought that they let you know where the aliens are but instead of a beep it's an explosion and instead of letting it live it kills it real good... and while I am thinking about it...stun trip mines/wires... That would be amazing...
