Sapare
The starting gun of the hunter vehicle(the machine gun it starts with): The soundclip it plays when shooting is too loud, I know it probably be louder then normal gunfire in real life but to me is rather painful, I either take off my headset or turn down my volume before using it.(That might sound like an exaggeration and it isn't THAT much too loud, but I have highly sensitive ears) If anyone agrees with this I would love for them to post here because I am curious if this is just a me thing or generally accepted. Chris
Let us know what the popular consensus is. It's easy to turn down an individual sound in the game.
StellarRat
The current sound level seems fine to me. It is a little louder, but I don't think think it's painful or anything.
Nightclubs
I tend to agree with the OP; the hunter machine gun sound is quite piercing compared to the other weapons in the game. I've found myself adjusting the game volume quite frequently when using it.
Mooton
It's never really stood out to me at all. Maybe it's your audio driver level settings?
Chris
I'll reduce it in volume by 10% relative to other sounds for the next build then - it is indeed quite a piercing sound relative to some of the other weapons. I've given it a test and it seems a bit weak and ineffectual if you make it any quieter than 90% original volume.
Nightclubs
I don't know how much fine control your engine gives you over audio settings, but if cutting the volume makes it sound weak, using an EQ to cut 3-6 dB around the 4K range might solve the problem without totally neutering the feel of the weapon. StellarRat
Perhaps it's the fact that the sound lasts longer than an explosion? Some of the other sounds are loud, but one time only.
Nightclubs
Could be...it's tough to say without comparing the waveforms. Perhaps I'll boot up Pro Tools when I get home from work and take a look. Until this post, I just assumed my sound hardware was over-emphasizing the offending frequency range.
