  1. I saw this again on a different map. I kinda didn't believe my eyes so I reloaded and explored a little more thoroughly to see where the alien spawned. He walked right through the wall those hay stacks adjacent--pretty nasty surprise.
  2. I don't know that it's unrealistic. Troops have almost always waited for night to pass and fought in the daytime. You only fight at night if you're forced to or it gives you some advantage. A medal or something similar might be interesting, though.
  3. I've seen something like this. I assaulted a crashed scout, and some of my misses passing through squares with corpses were playing the "flinch" sound and showing HP loss.
  4. This might not be *exactly* in the ground combat UI section, but I wish there were a simple way to assign numbers to my troops. I usually break my men into two squads of four, and it would be nice if it were easier to break them up into 1-4 and 5-8.
  5. As an option, I like that idea if it is practicable. I also kinda like the idea of making rolls automatic. I'm picturing something like many abilities in WC3, where you could right-click on Heal (for example) to have your priests use that ability automatically. You could also turn that off if you wanted to micromanage. That would take away the tedium for some of us while still allowing players that love air combat the ability to do it themselves.
  6. I'm wondering if it's a species thing. That had been my experience, but today playing the latest build I've seen a number of caesans in buildings. In one case, I found two in an office building on a warehouse map, and one of them even ran to a more interior room when I lit them up. As to the OP, I'm on the fence on this one. I think the current sight ranges feel pretty good in general for gameplay, although the mod mentioned sounds pretty interesting as well.
  7. This is on a map for a scout craft, near the starting area. You can walk right through the four concrete barriers my troops are standing beside in the screenshot.
  8. I had a Sebillian walk through the wall of the building he was in to get closer to my troops. I wasn't able to replicate this myself though I have a screenshot of where it happened. The highlighted square is where he came through (he was inside).
  9. I agree. Right now you can pretty much ignore buildings as far as I can tell. Yesterday I actually had an sebillian walk through a wall (!) to leave a building to get closer to my troops. Edit: So I hadn't played the latest build when I said that. I am seeing caesans using buildings now.
  10. Back to the thread topic (at least going by the thread title)... I haven't played in a while. So the reduced accuracy when shooting through doors, eg into a UFO, is still a thing?
  11. I think the problem there is that the LMG is too good. The sniper rifle feels about right imo.
  12. I thought of that. Sure, if you have 5 aircraft, you'd have to scroll to get to a dropship. However, you already have to click on a tab so you're not putting out any extra effort. In the fringe case where you have more than 6 aircraft and you're scrolling more... well, I think it's ok for a fringe case to scroll just a little extra when it's fewer clicks for literally everyone else.
  13. If this is something that will happen with the new UI, I apologize. The tooltips are way too slow. This is particularly noticeable in the facility construction screen--I was trying to find out which buildings I already had and was very frustrated with how long it took me to find out. Mouseover... wait three seconds. Repeat 4-5x. It should be instant.
  14. It is difficult to tell the difference between night/day with the new graphics.
  15. Maybe they could make it significantly easier to escape air combat with your fighters intact when you realize you're over your head. Increasing the turning speed of the mig/foxtrot would help a lot. In EU94, it was usually very easy to escape with an interceptor vs anything except a battleship (which one-shot you). And you had a lot more money.
  16. I have to agree with the resource shortage problem mid-game. And yeah, smaller UFOs should continue to appear sporadically even late in the game. Variety keeps the game interesting! IMO UFOs of all types should have a dramatically increased chance to land on their own. That would help players who find themselves unable to intercept get back in the game.
  17. I'd like to see the separate tabs for dropships and interceptors go away. It's an extra level of organization that doesn't bring much to the table, particularly since you could easily have all your interceptors and dropships visible at once. It's an extra click for everyone. It makes it harder for new players to figure out how to rearrange their troops, as well (especially if they don't know it's an option. Sure wasn't in the OG).
  18. Wouldn't different uniforms mean new sprites for every animation?
  19. That's what I do before alenium warheads. If there's an escort, I sent my Condors to take them out in one wave, with the Foxtrot(s) in a separate flight. Unload the avalanches, bug out, rearm, and come back. Foxtrots are pretty fast when you don't slow them down with Condors, fortunately.
  20. Umm... Xenonauts is very much like XCOM. Call of Duty is very much like Modern Warfare. I don't understand the problem. Buy whichever game is superior.
  21. So civilians are doing something that causes a crash...
  22. I'd suggest line or echelon rather than wedge. The benefit of a wedge formation (being able to put a large volume of fire in three directions) is lost on most maps, especially early on. As your troops get better, you can take more risks, but early on you should just treat it like a firing line. Don't shoot if someone is in front of you.
