  1. Hmm, so the issue is with the whiter areas (ie the clipboard and the white parts of the speech bubbles) rather than the background art itself?
  2. Nah, it's a bug. It's on Giovanni's (long) fix list and we'll fix it up before release.
  3. This only triggers once you active the Game Options view, but yes, it's a bug. Thanks.
  4. Not sure if this was a bug. Would you really want a pop-up every time any of your aircraft has finished refuelling?
  5. Thanks for the heads up. You're right about the greyed-out buttons on the Soldier Equip (and aircraft equip) screen. I'll change them to be more consistent with the other screens in the next patch. I'll also have the background white removed from the mouseover tooltip for the soldiers on the dropship equip screen, and the "Equip Default Loadout" and "Set Default Loadout" buttons will be switched around too. That's been requested before.
  6. I'm not sure being homosexual makes you any less brave. However, it is certainly possible that the morale system has been made too "strong" and units are panicing too easily. I'd create a thread in the Beta forums about the morale system, and just write in it your thoughts on the current morale implementation and any suggestions you have to rebalance it. That should start a discussion on how the current balance is working for everyone and let us see what the general opinion is.
  7. Yeah, we do need to look at that bar. It's started behaving weirdly lately. Thanks for the reminder.
  8. 21:9? I imagine it'd work very badly, but nobody in the office has one so we've not been able to test it at our end.
  9. Go into sounds.xml and do a search for "Sound name="AirCombatMusic". Just set the volume to 0 if it bothers you.
  10. We're working on the Desura / Humble builds at the moment, as I said in my previous post.
  11. I personally don't think the backgrounds detract from the game. The fact it has some colour in it doesn't mean the game can't have a dark tone. But as I said above, it's a question of personal taste and you can't cater for everyone so devs just have to do what we think is best and hope everyone likes it. We don't get our choices right every time, but even if we did there would still be some people who had different tastes to our own. In any case, it's too late to change the UI designs now it's been finished and implemented (well, unless you want go into the files and darken the background images yourself).
  12. It's basically going to be removed and replaced with a contextual in-mission display that informs you of the mission objectives. As is, the briefing screen doesn't really say much useful.
  13. I've updated the legacy branch to have V19 on it now, instead of V18. If you have the option for the pre-V19 branch then grab that and it'll give you V19.
  14. We'll start work on the Desura / Humble and Mac / Linux versions in a couple of days, when I'm back at my work PC. Mew - it's still an outstanding feature. Probably in the next month or so, it's quite high up on the to-do lists.
  15. I'm sorry you don't like it. The general reception to it has been quite good and I personally greatly prefer it, so I think overall it has been worth implementing. But your mileage may vary based on your own personal tastes, of course.
  16. drizzt99 - if you've got the saves before the missions end, could you post them here for us to look at? If we can reproduce the problem easily than we'll be able to fix it!
  17. Nope, it's exactly the same build. I'd stay on the Experimental.
  18. I hope everyone had a great Christmas! V20 Stable was released on Christmas Eve, a new version of the game that contains all the changes from the past three months of development. There's still a couple of relatively rare or minor bugs in the game we will patch out in the next week or two, but it contains a LOT of new features and is a pretty stable experience. The biggest news is the new UI, which looks better and functions better than the old one. It also changes as the game progresses, reflecting your increasing tech level. It's certainly the most visible of the updates, but there's been a lot of other big changes. All are listed below: Known Issues (to be patched, please do not report): There's an occasional hidden movement screen hang, caused by an AI loop. The end-of-mission screen has 0s for everything. This is because it is going to be replaced with an upgraded screen and scoring system shortly. Soldiers sometimes come back from battle with 98% health when they have taken no damage. Some of the early aliens can be rather passive at times due to an AI quirk we're working on. Highlighted Changes: - New UI: Every Geoscape management screen has been revamped with new graphics and usually a new layout. This a massive change and completely alters the feel of the game. - Improved Balance: There has been a LOT of work done on the game balance, far too much to list. - Aerial Terror Sites: These have been added to the Geoscape, and represent the aliens bombing infrastructure. - Game Size: The game has been reduced in size from 5gb to 2gb with some image compression magic. - New Art: There's a lot of new art in the game, particularly in the Xenopedia (captured alien art etc). Almost all the ground tiles have - been painted over now as well. - New Maps: There's quite a lot of new maps that have been added to the game, as well as more randomisation of them. - AI Improvements: The AI is more advanced than before and now capable of using grenades. - New Animations: There are new animations for gibs, healing, jetpacks, Reaper attacks and some types of explosion. The gib one is particularly nice! - Accuracy System: This has been revamped to make friendly fire less frequent and misses look less ridiculous. - Explanatory Tooltips: If this menu option is selected, some explanation screens appear the first time you access the Geoscape, Air Combat and Ground Combat. These provide basic instruction on how to play the game. Full Changelog (part 1): Press the button:
  19. To be fair, we've not been pulling all nighters. Giovanni did a few hours work on it last night but it's not been too intense. Thanks for the feedback. I've noticed a couple reports of hidden movement loops / hangs. As the autosaves should be working again, if you can attach the autosave from the start of the battle (a save from the actual turn would be even better but I appreciate that's unlikely to exist). It's almost certainly an AI loop causing the issue so it'll be much easier for GJ to fix if we have access to the problematic missions. EDIT - the bug report suggested the loop happened when an alien died from fire damage. Let us know if that theory is possible too, if you encounter the bug.
  20. Sounds like your strings.xml is corrupted. I'd validate your files on Steam and try again.
  21. Removing the ground combat loading screen caused more issues than anticipated. We've made some more fixes, and released a new Stable Candidate. You can thank Giovanni for most of this work! Changes: - Saving games should no longer cause a CTD, or corrupt the save. - Missions should now autosave correctly. - Briefing screen is back. - Soldiers should have their LOS back at the start of a mission. - Singularity Torpedo Xenopedia entry now correctly appears with the Fury research. Please let us know in this thread if there are bugs. At this point we're unlikely to be doing any more fixes before Christmas, so if this build is unstable we'll just revert the branch to V20.8 Hotfix 3. However, if it does prove stable we'll roll the build out to the Stable branch so everyone can enjoy the new features over the festive season. Have a great Christmas and a happy new year!
