  1. I really think that having it be more of a survival mission where you have to heal up your guys and their morale would be low and enemies are closing and they have to make it to some extraction point or survive x # of turns until "reinforcements" show up would be really fitting in the type of game this is. That would be a great addition! I'm will say right now I would NOT like giving up control of my xenonauts to the AI.
  2. Hey this brought up a thought - would the invisible civilians, who don't have sprites, still cast a SHADOW on the ground? This would explain the moving shadow we all keep seeing if I'm right!
  3. nice! I didn't find that one yet though there are a couple more with that building i did run into.
  4. Earlier today I made it through the whole "Quick Battle" terror mission without the HM bug. Trying a few more to see if I just got lucky though. Edit: nope just got lucky once! The next 2 times froze up on me. Time to quickfix it
  5. So I know spawns are still being worked out but I ran into this just now and I had to crack up a bit. It's in the "Quick Battle" option but if I fire the rockets I kill my own tank. If I don't do anything it will kill my tank. What a catch 22
  6. That house in the top picture Chris - if you come into the house from the street you don't open that door either. You go through the wall tile with the window in it. I hope that makes sense to you.
  7. I lost a tank and 2 dudes in the terror mission "quick battle". Was awesome! The tank would have lived if my moron sniper hadn't decided to shoot the tank in a wild miss instead of shooting you know.. the alien he was SUPPOSED to aim at!
  8. Confirmed on the soldiers melding with the chinook when exiting on the side. This is most apparent when leaving from the side of the Chinook that's to the south/bottom of the map. I also don't see animations for the second shot on the same turn either. During the farm battle I had not one but TWO aliens decide to do that. I gratuitously applied grenades and LMG rounds until they died. I am also not sure if that was a bug in their movement or if they just wanted to hide in there.
  9. Was one of your own soldiers (or the tank) in the way of the shot by chance? I think there was a crash bug related to killing the tank with friendly fire but I'm not positive on that. I'll try to replicate this later on tonight.
  10. The HMF (Hidden Movement Freeze) is a known bug that the AI coder is working on fixing right now. To get a workaround check the "workaround" thread here -> http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/1011-The-workaround-thread (likely you already knew that but just in case!) You want post #10! 3rd: I have noticed the walking through walls bug on the new terror mission map as well. 4th: That's been happening and IIRC is being worked on! 8th: I see shadows moving around too but thankfully my game didn't freeze. Still seeing odd shadows move around on the map but nothing being there is also a bug. The game freezing due to that might be a second bug related to it - not sure as I was unable to duplicate the freeze.
  11. In this screenshot taken from the "quick battle" option you can see the pathing moves the soldier THROUGH the wall instead of the nearby doorway. Not sure where this is coming from but none-the-less here you go. Secondarily (and not on this screen) on the north end of the gas station you can't walk on all the tiles north of the wall (basically what is the sidewalk north of the wall). The second image is from the farm tileset there is a corner of the barn you simply are completely UNABLE to move into and occupy. The game just doesn't recognize it as a spot that you can move to. I find this to be minor honestly but a bug is a bug. The spot in question is the one with the white circle on it. It doesn't mark it off as red either (yes I Know he has 0AP but all the other movement options are RED boxes and here you don't even get that!)
  12. What genre is the actually gameplay? The trailer wasn't really helpful in showing that at all.
  13. Because if I ever did it I'd want to do it marathon style no saves ever
  14. Having just picked up the original on steam I haven't had time to play it yet but I watched some UFO:EU let's plays on youtube (some of them 60+ episodes long). It seemed to me in each case the player chased after PSI abilities the game suddenly got a LOT easier. Significantly easier at that. See an alien -> mind control -> toss a live nade at their feet or just have them throw their weapons to the ground. Once disarmed they were a lot easier to fight and kill. At the point you were able to mind control the aliens fairly easily a LOT of the tension went out of the battles and it seemed also out of the players. Because instead of "oh no an alien!" It was "oh just mind control this guy blah blah zzzzzz". So I for one credit Chris with NOT wanting PSI abilities in the game.
  15. Well to my knowledge some of those things we don't have full details on - for instance the whole tech tree, what other resources will be needed to manufacture things, etc. I saw a mention of about 80 things that could be researched but I only know of maybe 1/4th of that number right now. Maybe I missed a post somewhere.. I think all those questions will matter more in beta than now but if I encounter some good tips I'll pass them along. For instance early on until you start seeing alien land vehicles showing up I find rockets to be superfluous and pointless to have. I'll take a MG early on over a rocket launcher for instance. But later on you want more "dedicated" roles of anti-infantry and anti-vehicle guys, scouts will be those with high APs, your snipers those with really high accuracy stats, etc etc. Base set up is a whole separate beast as I don't think base attacks are in yet (I haven't run into any at any rate) so it's harder to test and try out right now.
  16. I think if it's possible an option to toggle for "AP Spent" vs "AP Left" would be a great thing to add IF there is time. If not and the current system of AP left remains this needs to be very explicitly stated in a tooltip or some sort of brief optional tutorial accessible from the main menu. I know, I know it will be in the manual but really most don't read those these days (which I find to be sad... I miss my manuals!)
  17. Suppression will be fabulous I think - that mechanic is sorely underused in games. For an example of it being used well in a RTS you should look into Company of Heroes by Relic btw. Squads can be suppressed where they move slower but can still move and after a certain amount of suppression then they are "pinned" where basically they can only retreat to the base and don't fire back etc. Which sets up great flanks or nade tossing at them stuff like that. So in a more turned based environment I think it will vastly increase your tactical options for handling situations. Plus if suppression removes reactive fire that will make it easier to stun aliens but keep in mind it works both ways! So your guys can be suppressed and then the aliens can flank you - or a muton can run up and rip your face off... Nerve gas sounds interesting - will that be primarily a damage over time (DoT) or a stun device? If you throw one and then your troops walk on that area will they be affected? Will the effect of the gas dissipate over time? Sorry to pepper you with questions but I can't muck around with anything for about another 12 hours due to work haha. Overall sounds like a great update! I was just reading in my PCGamer this month and they kept referring to Firaxis Xcom coming up and my brain kept thinking "But... Xenonauts is coming too!!!!" so it will be great to get a demo version to PCG IMO. I'll poke around for bugs as soon as I can
  18. Is it just me or in anyone else's brain do you hear "GODLIKE" from UT 2k3 when you read "Gauddlike"....?
  19. I didn't like titan quest actually for one key reason - it wasn't RANDOM. See what I enjoyed the most about Diablo 2 wasn't the clicking orgy or fun with friends or whatever. It was that the maps contained the same areas but were randomly generated so they weren't the same EVERY TIME. That added so much to the ability to replay that game for sooooo many hours. I studied up on TQ and it wasn't random so I said "Meh". I've got a key for Path of Exile and it's... ok. It doesn't run all that great yet IMO (and my system is beefy so it should run fine). It just seems "slow" somehow. I feels like Diablo 2.5 to me - which isn't bad but I like more innovation. Perhaps that why I actually am enjoying D3? Certain areas are destructible, skills have additional rune abilities you can add on to them, you can upgrade your peons... err I mean "helpers" like the blacksmith etc. I DO like path of exile - and the economy being based solely on trade instead of gold is pretty interesting as is the skill tree. But the gameplay to me feels like something a decade old already which I'm a bit disappointed about. Maybe Grim Dawn will be better? I dunno - but I haven't seen anything on if it will be randomized or not. Gotta do more reading
  20. I personally would always rather have a REAL book - I stare at screens enough over the course of the day to want to stare at another one to read in my free time. Gimme dat real book of paper!
  21. nah it's happened when they have only had just the gun and I double checked the encumbrance thing already. This isn't as prevalent as it was previously either. Maybe I just uninstall/reinstall - could be a file didn't update right or something (always a chance of that!)
  22. I do NOT know how I missed this one but I did! ARGH - me wants soundtrack
  23. I'm married with two small kids and a full time job - no way I'm ever clicking ironman haha
