  1. Adding support for a tactical mini-map, either always on, or from a button press ala X-com. Its very useful to have.
  2. Its unlikely. Specialisations are more natural progression. A selection of stats that work well with a particular set of weapons and equipment. Accurate, high reaction troopers working well as snipers due to fighting as snipers and their stats growing in support of their role, rather than RPG style skill tree abilities.

Its even funnier reading through this myself and realising I can barely remember writing it. Its like a sitcom. Favourite parts have to be Stenner and Alan's buddy argument and the fact that the only ones who died were the first 2 that went into the base (Franz and Evelyn). Still no idea what happened to Evelyn. Or that I'd been getting Dix II to beat a snakeman unconscious with a pistol for multiple turns before deciding to check what it was. Best Commander capture ever.
  4. Yeah, played a bit more. Finally getting the hang of it. I've got a partial idea of how to balance the money, but I still get random drops (which might be due to making or upgrading stations, I dunno). Spent roughly an hour trying to get in a fight with some Tarka (think it was their capital system) before I realised that I had to set a formation before they went invading. Now my ships keep spawning so close to the star they're almost in it. Or 5 turns being unable to make a new fleet at my capitol for...some reason. I have no idea what it was. Had everything in place (CNC, armours. Only 4 other fleets.) and they were the only ships based there. I could make fleets at every other colony system though. Or having to do the battle-mode selection before every AI battle, as well as before your own. I can see a good game in there, but its wrapped in all this...annoying stuff. It takes too long to access and do things (half framerate, half just all the clicks needed, like making stations). I really want to get in a scrap, but its almost unnecessarily difficult to do so. Still can't figure out how to tell which planet is which in the combat/defense view.
  5. Yay! Another team member! Excited to to see your work!

Damn straight! Listening to it on repeat! Of course, kind of stoned on painkillers so my perspective might be a bit screwy.

Chapter 26: Part 2. All Ur Dudes. (Continue the music from part one if you're listening to it) Gauddlike: Another Mantis! Gauddlike: They're everywhere! Kenji: We need support over here Sir! Kenji: Oi! Did you shoot me?! This armour ain't easy to repair! Snakeman: Meep. *Skrakoom* Kenji: That's right. Splatter all over the walls like a punk. *rude gesture* Marty III: If you're quite done playing, I could use some help here. Marty III: These things don't give up. (In case you're wondering, I'd been having trouble finding the aliens wandering around that corridor. So I blew it up. Helped a little) Lucy: No kidding! They're everywhere! Marty III: I know, right? Lucion: Eat laser, Sassy McPoopface! Stenner: Violence! Alan: More effective violence! Stenner: You're such a dick, Alan. Alan: Waah wahh wah, I'm Stenner, I only have one name. Stenner: Such a dick. Danielle: Got your spine! Dix II: Shhh. Dix II: Now Gauddlike, like we practised. Guaddlike: Brutal beating? Dix II: Brutal beating. Dmitriy: This is stupid room. Dmitriy: No mirror ball and only images of dead comrades and unicorns eating their flesh. Pah! Waffles: What? Sathra: Ex-Spetznaz. *shrug* Gauddlike: Looky here Colonel. Got ourselves an engineer with a Blaster Launcher. Snakeman: *groan* Gauddlike: Quiet you! *Vicious kicking* Dix II: Heheh. Well done Rookie, you'll go far. Keep watch here. Dix II: Eat plasma, random alien soldier! Lucion: Hmm, what to do with this bomb. Dix II: You're carrying around a live Special!? Throw it already! Lucion: Fine. Into the window you go. Snakeman: Evening sir *tips hat* Lucion: Evening....*runs* *Krakoom!* Lucy: We've got more moving up over here! Lucy: Ambushed! AHAHAHA! Stenner: And flanked! Alan: You shot out the wall too. Stenner: Shut up Alan! Just for that, you can scout the new entry. Alan: You're such a dick, Stenner. Alan: There. Clear. Dix II: What do YOU want?! *vicious pistol-whipping ensues* (for 4 turns, it kept waking up) Dix II: Kenji! Help me beat this thing unconscious! *Futher vicious beating* Dix II: Finally. *gasp*. Tiring. Kenji: Hmm, is that crown? Dix II: Looks like it. Fancy. Wonder how Gauddlike's doing. Gauddlike: Gah! Gauddlike: Where the hell did you come from! *Lasfire* Dix II: Did you just kill your prisoner? Gauddlike: No...scouting out the...whatever this place is. Alien just jumped outta nowhere. (Not joking, I'd already scouted that room, no idea where it came from. Some random snakeman soldier with no gun) Danielle: I killed you already! Lucy: We done here? Dix II: Yep. Jean-Luc II: Yep. Control centre primed for boom. *Not shown: Jean-Luc II, Lucion and Marty III storming the control centre; shooting and beating unconscious everything within. I somehow lost the pictures.* Lucy: Then let's roll before the nuke goes off. Everyone: NUKE?! (Yep, no idea what that gibberish is. Screwed up something-or-other from the navigation decode script I guess) ---------Mission End----------- Waffles: That went quite well. Here's the current troop list for Cobra. Sathra: Evelyn died? Waffles: What are you..hmm. Odd, Commander Lucy didn't report it. Sathra: Feh, she was a nobody. Onwards to the cafeteria Mr Waffles! Waffles: Very well sir, but aren't you forgetting something? Sathra:...Oh yes! Victory Music! Waffles:... Sathra: Mr Waffles? Are you okay? Waffles:...Bahahaha! Forwarding this to the technical department at Cobra. I'll get them to play it there too! Sathra: Ahahaha! *At Cobra HQ* Lucy: You heard the comms system! Do it! Alien Prisoners: *whimper*

Chapter 26: In Ur Base, Killin' Ur Dudes. Sathra: VENGEANCE! Waffles: You seem quite miffed sir. Sathra: Of course I am. How will we get to Arcadia without the gateway! Waffles: What. Sathra: Commander! We initiate...The Plan. Lucy: Start firebombing major- Sathra: No, the other one. Lucy: Oh, invade an alien base? Sathra: Yeah, that one. Hop to it commander! Lucy: With pleasure. ---- We Prepare We are Ready We-Oooh, shiny... Dum de dum. Sathra: Now where was I?...oh, right. Sathra: Akinori, define favourable outcome. Aki: They all die. Sathra: That'll do. Waffles: The aliens? Or our troops? Aki and Sathra: *shrug* Sathra: !-----Mission Start----- Evelyn: We're in! We may have lost brave comrades on the way in, but we are in the base! Franz: What the hell are you talking about? We just cut the locks on the door and came down the lift. Evelyn: Shh, future generations won't know about that. We should be like heroes. I demand action figures of myself! Franz: Pfft, you're a nobody. Cobra Commander maybe, but not you. Evelyn: We'll see about that! Lucy: Shut up! Eyes open! Franz: There's nothing her- Holy crap! Mantis! Lucy: Idiots. Move out Alpha team! Lock down a beach-head! Jean-Luc II: Beta team ready? Jean-Luc II: Alright, lets go! I'm not paying for the booze, so you better kill more than Alpha! Beta team: Yo! Jean: I hear something! Jean: Oh god! Mantis! Save me Noodley One! Jean: What the hell...Franz! Watch out! Franz: *Blarg* Gauddlike: Eat radiant censure! Gauddlike: Oh god no! Its not dying! Save me! Dmitriy: I will save you! Dmitriy: It defies my relativistic-particle-weapon judgement! Alan: I pronounce you fatality, heathen! Gauddlike: Hooray! (Holy crap. That took more shots to kill than our tanks) Danielle: We've got a garden here! Dix II: Burn it out! Lucy: My hand's getting cramped. Alley-oop! Lucy: Cross-corridor cleared! Jean: Enemies! Jean: Chuck disappeared! Firing at Mantis! Jean: Its got a shield! My shots keep missing! Marty: No, you're just crap. (Marty killed Chryssies really easily compared to everyone else. 2-3 shots every time) Jack Sharps: Not hanging round those crazy bastards. Now off into this monster infested base all by my self. Gauddlike: Another thing! Die! Dix II: Its...so very comforting. Dix II: A little bit of normalacy in this creepy alien base. ------ Continued in Part 2!
  9. Oh, they added tooltips in yesterday's update (at, there's some now). Doesn't help that they don't pop-up all the time. Or that I have no idea what all these 50 buttons do. Or the frankly stupid GUI design decisions. What is the point of invoices!? How do they help? All they seem to do is add unnecessary clicks. Suddenly ended up with negative income. How do I find out why? The income screen is just a page of numbers and bars everywhere! I don't even know what half of them even represent! Manual is apparently useless, mostly art.
  10. Finally got it installed and updated. What does all of this things do!? *gestures helplessly* This is even more obtuse than SOTS 1 was at first look.
  11. Adding a new great game - Robot Unicorn Attack: Heavy Metal Edition.
  12. @MickeyC: Oh yeah, that's awesome fun. Forgot about it. Its even better with the Battle Sizer. 800 troops running at eachother, while you ride around on your horse firing random shots into the pack. Or careening through with a lance/spear, or wandering about poleaxing horses.
  13. Adding rookies into experienced squads is already a good idea (well, planned to be). It counteracts the morale penalty they have and create. Chris did mention that autopsies could add passive bonuses to damage too, to all troopers. Having stuff like that DOES help balance out rookies late game, without weakening the effort and time you put into growing the old hands of the organisation. That and the shiny, shiny tech.
  14. That's you!? No wonder the name looked familiar! Carrier cruisers... Pics are pretty good. Colours are bit...garish, but not horribly so.
  15. That's true. So how damaging should grenades be at best? X-com Specials' level or TFTD sonic pulser?
  16. But that's a classic strategy from X-com! There are (and were) limits to how much you can gain per mission though. But you could still shoot them repeatedly with weak weapons than can barely injure it yes?
  17. Left-Hand man probably. The other trusted henchman.
  18. And if you don't care about stats much (such as myself), you can save money by picking ones that don't end up dying quite as amusing.
  19. Heh, waiting for someone to make a group now. Thread Derailers or something. Scorched and liquified.
  20. Aye, very true. I just like the linking better since its ALL based on the combat. And I likes me the combat.
