  1. I haven't played Master of Magic though i heared of a game Paradox publishes (its still in development though) where the community said that it reminds them of MoM (although as i said i haven't played MoM so i don't know if they are right ) Here is a link to the subforum for it on Paradox forums: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?649-Warlock-Master-of-the-Arcane
  2. DF dosn't have a learning curve, it has a learning brick wall I was quite lucky with tutorials, since i have a friend who played it a lot (well he told me about it ) and than we were talking over skype while i played my first fort (i think he played at the same time too), so i got most of my begginer question answered really fast and it helped breaking with my head through the above mentioned brick wall Currently we have a "multyplayer" game ongoing where we pass a save game to each other after 2 seasons of playing - and the fort gets a lot more interesting when multiple people realises their ideas (or finish things other have left unfinished)
  3. It does that if you check the last unread post and you jump directly back to the home page of the forum. When you first go into the forum you've read the last post (for example General Goldhawk Discussion here) and than go back to the home page it seem to register it normally.
  4. I hadn't played many ground missions in this build, but i have experienced this bug 2 times in 3 missions... I can also confirm that the sound of the footsteps loop while the soldier is frozen EDIT: i think i broke the loop when i forced the soldier to shoot at a tile (but i'm not sure if it was possible the first turn he got stuck, i think i did it a few turns later)
  5. I got a CTD when i had one of those "gost" UFOs from a crash site and i tried to engage that site. And another when quitting the game
  6. After i load a game, the buttons for base/research/etc. (those above the create base button) stop to work (i have to click on the base icon on the geoscape to enter base building, research and those other menues) The create base and intercept button works normally. But when i click the create base button (and after it i canceled it) they start functioning normally (and for some added strangeness the buttons start to work for all saves - if i load another saved game from the geoscape they work even without canceling the placement of a new base (i tried the other saves before and they weren't functional)), but when i exit the whole game (back to windows) and reopen it and load a save those buttons are unfunctional again - so there might be some bigger bug when loading multiple saves 1 after another without exiting the game (for additional proves that something is wrong there see http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?337-v8.2-Geoscape-Loading-a-game-with-a-crashed-UFO-has-a-ghost-airborne-UFO)
  7. OK i got another "ghost" UFO, or rather multiple of them - with only 1 crash site. I loaded a game after i finished a ground mission and after i started some researches, because the researches dissappeared (see http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?326-V8.2-Geoscape-Loading-saves-and-research.) i loaded a save i made immediatly after i finished the ground mission, but before i started my research projects. The result of the load was: i had no options to start any research (those items i collected from the crash site dissapeared from the research screen) and i got an ghost UFO and a ghost crash site. And i also noticed a bug when loading other saved games without exiting the game: to see if i could reproduce the above bugs i loaded (without quitting) a game where my ground forces were on their way to the crash site - i got another ghost UFO from there and i kept that ghost UFO and crash site from the save i had loaded before !!! For additional conformation i loaded (again without leaving the game) the save i loaded the very first (where i didn't have any "ghost" elements, just the reasearch bug) and all ghost UFOs and the crash site where there too. Than i exited the whole game and restarted it, i could load 1 save without problem (except reseach, but no UFOs) - so it might be that when you load a game the current state isn't properly deleted (some things seems to be getting carried over to other saves).
  8. I can confirm this, also when i engage that UFO i get a crash (http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?332-V8.2-Geoscape-Crash-when-engaging-crash-site)
  9. It updated mine today around noon (the update might have been available even earlier, but i didn't try to update) (GMT+1)
  10. When i try to engage a crash site teh game crashes soon after i click engage. I started a game today and I had no problems with the first ground combat (i engaged successfully), after that i destroyed another scout, and i send out the troop transport. Before it arrived at the crash site i saved the game and quit it (btw got a crash when exiting too - from the autosave i left the game about 1 min after that save). I recently loaded that game and now i always crashes when engaging. I added a .zip file with my DxDiag and the .sav file (a few seconds before the helikopter reaches the crash site) EDIT: it crashes when i load the autosave too bug-report.zip bug-report.zip
  11. My favourite is Morrowind, too. What i kinda miss in Skyrim is immesrsion - for exaple in Skyrim you do 2 or 3 quests and you are already in the circle of the companions, or you can become a important member of the mages guild (haven't done those quests yet, so i don't know how far you can actually go there) even when you are roleplaying a dualwielding barbarian, who never uses magick. While in Morrowind you have to start with really small tasks (finding mushrooms as example as the irst quest for the mages guild), the progress is thus slower, but i feels more "realistic" IMHO, also you had to train the skills a certain faction/guild sees as virtues, since they don't let you become leader of the house telvani if you never ever case a spell Despite everything i enjoy skyrim, its a great game (but i guess Morrowind will be my favourite elder scrolls game forever )
  12. Getting closer to the weekend every day Can't wait to try the new build. Keep up the great work Chris
  13. I also though i couldn't play because of that after combat crash. But i someone on the Kerberos forums told me, that the game actually saves just after the combat, so when oyu get a crash and than go back into the game and click continue, you'll find yourself just after the resolved combat It annoying, but you can continue the game normally
  14. There is a little bug, if i close the spoiler after i opened it instead of "spoiler" it shows "{option}" (i mean the caption on the spoiler button)
  15. Did you download the 1.1 manual? There is far mor information than in the first one (not everything, but it is a lot better). You can get it here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?567741-Manual-1.1 (just click on the image to start the download) Invoices were probably meant to add an additional stategic layer to the game, since i think that you benefit from bigger invoices (i think i've read somewhere (before the game was released) that if you order more ships at once they get a bit cheaper - i'm not 100% sure about this though), so you have to think more what you need in the future (as in making an order as big as possible but not building ships you won't use later). The negative income migh have been because some ships where constructed (IIRC i read somewhere on the forums that you pay for the ships when they are done)
  16. I compleatly agree it should be part of the game to find a good mix of experienced soldier a rookies to still mamage your missions (having enough veterans) and have enough training to get more experienced troops while the game moves on (when you'll need more squads to go on all or most missions at roughly the same time, or when you have to replace a soldier who was killed)
  17. -Dwarf fortress (after you get over the learning brick wall its great ) -Swort of the stars (sots2 shows GREAT potential, but they'll some time to get rid of the biggest bugs (no not the hivers - bad joke i know ) and crashes, but they'll make it ) -X-com (i guess i don't have to comment this one ) -Baldurs gate 2 (just installed it a few months back again:) ) -Europa universalis 3 (i even wrote an AAR )
  18. IMHO even in its current state the game is playable (the autosave on every turn kinda saves the day on crashes ), i had quite a lot of fun with it and i don't regret my preorder. In the end Kerberos need money to make games and i'm sure they'll put our cash in good use and bring us one of the best 4x games ever Looking forward to todays patch EDIT: a link to the screenshot thread might be useful for anyone who wants to check out how the game looks http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?567489-Screenshot-thread I'm the guy postingg liir images
  19. Hello everyone I wasn't much active on the old forum (i'm not sure if i had posted anything ), but i wasn't a member for that long either. I preorder this as soon as i found out that it existed (someone on a misc subforum mentioned it (on the kerberos productions forum)) My preorder came a few day before the paypal problem (damn paypal). Hopefully i'll be a bit more active here
