[UI] SteelSoldier Role Images

Recommended Posts

ur4w.png

The purpose of these icons are to replace the role images that are currently found in the game, I am currently doing several experiments to see what type of backgrounds I should use on the icons and what weapons and items I can use on them in order to identify each role of each character.

Ya, I took a look at your icons, they look pretty good so far, I just decided to do something a little different taking a bit some inspiration out of your icons to do something that uses the artwork of the game and making icons fitting each of the weapons and some miscellaneous equipment.

I like what you've got here.

I would suggest sharpening the edges of the various guns then scaling them slightly larger. It's very hard to tell what some of them are with the small version of the files (such as when you do a mouseover).

Ya, I think I should have just gone for simplified icons, instead of trying to make a matching background color for them, this way I can increase the weapon size and make the quality good enough.

Hmmm...those look kinda blurry, with the gray background around them. The main problem is being able to distinguish them when the icon is small.

These look nice; I like them. :)

Is there an "unused" image to replace the blank red square?

EDIT: Never mind, just downloaded them. Very snazzy. :)

In looking at the second set you provided, I'm starting to reconsider, those do look very nice. I like the stylistic curve at the top. Well done!

Idea:

Perhaps color coding each one by filling the "tab" in bottom left area with color? Perhaps add a white outline to dark colors and a black outline to bright colors.

Red=assault

Orange=flame thrower

Yellow=rocket launcher

Green=rifle

Blue=heavy

Purple=sniper

Brown=pistol

White=shield

Indeed, the bottom left area. The center portion has a curved background. I was thinking that bottom left portion could have some color in it to further denote each role. Just a thought. You're the one doing the graphics. :)

Can you allow us to download the "blank" grey one? Currently I'm using one of your all black "unused" images along side your all grey with white symbol images. (I really like those. :))

Here ya go:

The png file is called unused, should be inside the zip file.

Also my plan is to do all weapons with grey backgrounds, but I will have the colored backgrounds to people who want some distinction between each type of weapon, also will try and do a different color for the extra icons.

Sweet: having both grey and colored would be awesome. (I'd only use the grey; colors don't seem to have a place in this organization, beyond powder blue ;)).

Thanks for the icons!
