Max_Caine
Crash sites hang around long after the UFOs have gone back to the mothership. I find there's half a days grace after the UFOs go before the crash site vanishes, and generally the next wave appears a day after the previous one did. There's quite a simple way to adjust the rate at which fightercraft spawn. AM_AirSuperiority.xml and AM_GroundAttack.xml are to two files that govern (for early game) the rate and type of fightercraft spawning. There is a variable in both files marked "once per wave". If you set this to "true" (or "1", I forget which), then only 1 squadron of fightercraft will spawn for that mission type in that wave. You can also set when fightercraft start appearing, the number of escorts and a variety of other variables. If you're unhappy with the status quo, then change it! (And tell us in the Modding forum what you changed, and what the consequences were).
Bulloch49
I agree that I spend more time try to get any kind of air superiority than fighting on the ground. It is very tough to go to crash sites. Very frustrating to get my Chinhook attacked by the 3 fighters UFO. Even with an escort it's tough. In the original xcom Air combat was maybe a bit too simplistic. But I think it had the right balance between aircombat and ground combat. In the current version 15.1 I have the feeling it's all about Air combat. I spend more time trying to build planes than anything else.

Near the end of the second month, all I think about is air combat and i've barely seen 1 alien crash site in the whole month.

Just to point out to both of you, the game isn't balanced *at all* yet and it's well known that there are far too many fighters spawning currently.
