  1. Cheers. Probably should've spotted that one to begin with.
  2. Hi again. Been doing more messing around with the extra weapon images the devs graciously included in the game's files, and noticed that the stats for the ak47 are included in the weapons.xml: <Weapon name="weapon.ak47" bulletType="normal" emptySound="Empty Click 1"> <props range="15" hands="2" recoil="0" weight="5" isHeavy="0" clipSize="20" reloadAPCost="25" reloadSound="Weapon Assault Rifle Reload" reactionModifier="1" /> <SingleShot sound="Weapon Assault Rifle Single" delay="0.6" suppressionValue="20" suppressionRadius="1"> <Set1 ap="28" accuracy="40" /> <Set2 ap="40" accuracy="70" /> <Set3 ap="55" accuracy="115" /> </SingleShot> <BurstFire ap="60" accuracy="35" sound="Weapon Assault Rifle Burst" delay="0.6" burstdelay="0.1" shotCount="3" suppressionValue="60" suppressionRadius="2" /> <GUIImage name="gui/weapons/AK47.png"/> <GroundImage name="grounditemimages/ballistic_ak.png"/> <Ammos> <Ammo name="ammo.ballistic.rifle" type="kinetic" damage="30" mitigation="0"> <Projectile spectre="projectiles/bullet/bullet" speed="1000" showAfterDistance="60.0"/> <Impact spectre="particles/bulletplume/bulletplume"/> </Ammo> </Ammos> </Weapon> This made sense, as there are friendly AI that use the weapon. I looked at all the weapon-related files I could thing of, though, and I couldn't find whatever it was that makes the ak47 (or the alien alien weapons, or anything else the player can't obtain) unavailable in the armoury. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
  3. Pathfinder's a lot of fun. I don't really get a chance to play it much, though. Been playing mostly D20 Modern lately, with a sprinkling of 4E and Star Wars Saga Edition. A while back my group tried out the open beta for the next edition that WOTC is doing.
  4. My friend is running a Pathfinder game in which shit has gotten ridiculous. The party spellcaster cast Enlarge Person and Permanence on the paladin, who now runs around the battlefield with an 8-foot longsword, chopping dudes up.
  5. Do I espy an old-school D&Der? No 3.0 player I've ever met was willing to play any game that didn't have a six page spreadsheet full of mechanically identical polearms!
  6. Cheers. Noticed the introduction thread just now, and figured that introducing myself with my thirtieth post is almost as good as with my first. So: I'm 19 years old, and I live in Ottawa, ON. I'm a Law Clerk student, so if for some incredibly stupid reason you need to know something basic about the Canadian legal system, I've got your back. I got hooked on XCOM:EU (the one from Firaxis, that came out a couple years ago) and decided to try out the original. Liked it, but didn't play much because I couldn't really figure it out. Bought Xenonauts, been loving it.
  7. Neat. I usually pick a theme, then rename all the vehicles in that base to fit, i.e. Ghost base has interceptors Wraith, Shade, etc, Hero base has Achilles, Hector, Agamemnon. I like your different weapon types idea.
  8. *nasal sarcastic nerd voice* technically, they invent something analogous to the internet called the "internetwork".
  9. No crunch here, I'm gonna ask about some fluff. What do you fine folks name your bases? Do you rename your interceptors, dropships, and ground vehicles?
  10. This is a great mod, although to be honest what I like most about it is being able to hear from someone other than the head scientist. That guy's a bit of a jerk.
  11. Cheers, that makes sense. I already had my guys carrying a lot, this gives me something to look forward to.
  12. Obviously, carry capacity is governed by strength. I just wanted to know how, if at all, a soldier's strength is improved? I just got to Wolf Armour (Having skipped over Jackal entirely) and most of my soldiers are losing most of their gear in order to carry it and still taking a hit to their TUs.
  13. Hardly a project. I just wanted to change the one picture because I thought it looked cool.
  14. Just loaded a save, didn't do anything else.
  15. Yep, that's what I did to get it working.
  16. Nevermind, got it working now. Everything is fine, thank you very much anyway if you were going to help.
  17. Hey folks. Like the subject line implies, I'm doing something pretty basic and can't get it to work. I wanted to replace the default ballistic precision rifle image in game with the "HKPG2" image in the "alternative" folder. I figured I could achieve this by altering the relevant sections of weapons.xml and weapons_gc.xml files to point to that image. So, I didn't touch the actual image files, and just typed the filepath that led to the correct image in both files. This resulted in a CTD when I tried to load a saved game. Next, I reset the files to what they had been before, and replaced the PrecisionRifle images in the two locations they are in normally with the HKPG2 image renamed to match the default image. This also resulted in a CTD upon loading a save. Dispirited, but not entirely discouraged, I combined these approaches, placing the new image where the old one was, and setting the filepath to point to the new image in the old location. This also did not work. At this point, I have reset the game files to normal, and am turning to you fine folks for advice. If it's relevant, I'm using v21stable and have Skitso's Oppressive UI mod and Max_Caine's Lore+ mod installed. If this isn't working for me for an incredibly obvious reason, feel free to be as condescending as you wish.
  18. I read somewhere (I believe in the thread about the release of v22e5) that soldiers gain TUs by spending certain amounts of them. Does this mean I can make all my soldiers really fast by running laps around a crashed UFO without opening the door?
  19. Hey, having some trouble with the mod. I'm using v21 stable, and extracted the files from the .rar into the assets folder. It installs fine and looks great, but when I try to quit from the game to the main menu, the game freezes and I have to force it to close with the task manager. I don't think I did, but I could very easily have done something wrong. Has anyone else had the same issue? EDIT: Nevermind, determined mod was not the issue.
  20. Why, man, He doth bestride the narrow world / Like a Colossus... Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, I ii Before Xenonauts, I had played XCOM 2012 and dabbled in the original game, so I had enough experience to know that I would definitely have soldiers whose names would live on for eternity in the hearts of man, and the nightmares of aliens. I invite you all to share the tales of your most fearsome warriors, that they might be remembered for all eternity. It is in this vein that I tell you the tale of Doctor Feelbad, MD Ph.D. Micheal McDonald joined the Xenonauts midway through the first month, to replace a man I had lost in battle. He had pretty high TUs to begin with, so I made him a medic (a class I usually assign to fast people, as they can get to wounded people, swap their rifle for a medkit, and still do some healing in one turn). Despite the role I intended to use him for, he turned out to be an incredible badass. His low-percentage shots would hit more frequently than they had any right to (60% of the time, he hit every time), and it seemed like alien shots never got anywhere close to him. It was by mid-December that I decided to change his name; he was already a medical doctor, but he had obviously completed his doctorate in asskicking as well. He was finally slain in a glorious last stand in a terror mission in February, but for all eternity, the world will remember the name of Doctor Feelbad. He specializes in Pain, and the Prescription Thereof.
  21. Cool. Sorry for stepping on your toes, I guess.
  22. Ran into a bug a couple times with this new release. Grenades that were thrown from the quick grenade slot sometimes aren't thrown, but the TUs are still consumed. Both times so far it's happened in the doorway of a Light Scout, once with a flashbang and once with an Alenium grenade. I've had flashbangs work fine in the doorway of a LS before, so it doesn't happen all the time, at I haven't tried throwing a grenade that's in a soldier's hand.
  23. That sounds like the coolest shit ever! Have you seen that episode of Mythbusters where they light some thermite on top of a big block of ice and the whole thing explodes?
