  1. I have not downloaded the game for the last several builds, but saw Beta Candidate and was excited. I have to say I am very disappointed this thing seems to be even less stable that the last time I played. I tried 2-3 times starting and had missing textures, CTD, and corrupted saves. I figured it must be a corrupt download, so I downloaded it again and had the same results. I checked the bug reports and the issues I am having are listed. I just wanted to throw in my $.02, so please do not release a beta in this kind of shape. It has serious issues that will give it low ratings and bad reviews. I would really like to see it be a success. Also, The few missions I was able to play the AI seems to still be dumber than a box of rocks
  2. I was missing ground tiles on a couple of maps. Followed by game crash and corrupted saves.
  3. Hey Guys! The game is great IMHO and the 2D graphics are also great being a 40+ yr old gamer. It sounds however like the approach taken to develop the game however has added TONS of work with rendered 3D models to 2D then hand painting. So, My hats off to you guys for all your efforts in the art work and over coming most of the technical problems that came up with that. Happy Gaming!
  4. Hi All, Does this version have the final tileset except for the mentioned crashed ufos? Sounds like maps are needed maybe some of us could lend a hand.

  6. Just my $.02 I think the current implementation works pretty well. The play is constrained to not build like crazy due to funding and the micromanagement is not excessive for me anyways. The quote "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. There are many more important features to look at IMHO. Thanks.
  7. Hi all! Just wondering if it just me or happening to others. After playing the first month or so I started getting groups(3) small scouts together and corvettes showing up repeatedly. I only have the f-17s and Mig-31s at my disposal at this point and have researched every thing. The groups and corvettes seem to like to eat these craft for breakfast. With cost and rebuild times it seems a bit overpowering at this stage of the game. I have tried the distraction method and various evasions , but in the end I lose all my craft to the corvettes and most to the groups. Also, destroying the crafts as a group does not even leave me a ground mission. Getting a little frustrated. Thanks, Tom
  8. I got my first alien base to pop up upon hitting the engage button had a CTD.
  9. Hello all! Sorry for the delay got involved in that ugly thing called work..ugghh..damn them for eating into my game time. I have the latest (V17.6.1) standalone to answer your question Gauddlike. I can create submaps in that editor and I can place them in the level editor but if I try to move anything I get program stopped responding(end) box. Im on windows 8 x64 if it matters. Edit: The game itself runs fine. It could be possible be just a corruption of the editor file??
  10. It happens in the level editor if I try to move a submap that I have placed. It happens every time.As long as I do not try to move or change a placed sub it's ok. I get the old program not responding/end windows box when it happens.
  11. Hi again all..Yes the point was the forced sell leaving a lack of player control. I don't see the purpose of them dropping if they are automatically sold whether or not you pick them up. Either have them drop and you can keep them (yes, I know the human weapons are better to use.), or don't have them drop at all is my opinion. Also, it should be a unique item in the soldier that is carrying it's pack not an item in the armory. If you wanted to carry it even further have it be able to be used, sold whole, or broken down into parts for other project or speed up research just throwing ideas out there.

  13. I was referring to the dropped alien plasma weapons and grenades. I don't see the point in having them dropped on the battlefield and then taken away when you return. If you can't use them or keep them why have them drop at all. I would like there to be a reason to have them drop or not dropped at all. Just a personal opinion I think it would be cool to have useful loot, but I already know loot is not what the game was designed for. I read the FAQ.
  14. It would be nice if I could keep my looted alien weapons after the mission ends. If I am in a battle and put something in my backpack it should stay there when I get back IMHO.
  15. I have played 10 or so ground missions and during the civilians turn you just see a circle shadow on the ground moving around for some but not all civilians. It seems the armed ones show up fine just very few of the regular ones. Not sure whats up, it's not a game stopper but pretty odd.
  16. Any chance of a release of just the editor? I saw the shout out to the community for maps. The editor crashes repeatedly on me with V17.6.1. I would love to contribute but can not with the current setup.
  17. There are a couple of mods to correct your frustrations one removes them all together and another that makes them much weaker so that they can be destroyed with regular weapons.   18. I have another question. I have been holding off the release of my mod due to having no damage images of the aircraft except for the F-17 and Mig-31. Will the other aircraft receive damage like these 2 planes in the release?
  19. Chris has put alot of work into the research tree to make it have some depth. Personally I don't want to be able to get the best equipment without some work as long as it helps keep the game balanced. What i mean is if you fail to do your research you will eventually get your a$$ handed to you by some badies. That is part of your strategic planning for the later game stages.
  20. I agree as well. I play a few missions with every release, and it is really starting to come together. I think they are doing a great job with it.
  21. I have played the whole XCOM series, All of the UFO:After*** series, Silent Storm Series, UFO:extraterestial, the latest XCOM(2012). I really enjoy all of these games, but all have there good and bad points of course. It is just a personal opinion, but I think most games out there are pretty dumbed down and hold your hand wanting you to win or twitchy action/FPS. The fore mention games actually make me think a bit like an action packed game of chess. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the other types of games if that is your thing it just isn't mine. My son is a FPS junky and he is brilliant, so it has nothing to do with intellect, and I don't want to start yet another post that gets turned into a comparison of genres. This game has real potential and we are fortunate to be able to be involved in the development though these forums. I have had the devs reply to several of my posts. Try that with the one of the hugh game companies, you get luck if one of the know nothing forum admins replies to you.
  22. I have been able to play several missions on a couple of starts with only minor bugs. The most annoying one i found is the rendering order one where things seem to go invisible if they share a tile or are very close together. I know I say this in most of my feed back posts, but it is very important to me and will make or break the game for me. The game needs GREAT AI, and personally i don't think enemy turn length should even be considered a factor. The player gets an unlimited amount of time. I don't mean waiting ages for the computer, but with modern hardware I don't think it should be considered in the design process. The AI is at least moving the enemy and making them shot at you now. I have read GJ's response and plan in another post and it sounds pretty solid. I am excited to see what comes of it. Overall A+ update thank you!
  23. I just found that Silent Storm and Silent Storm Sentinals are packaged together as a gold edition and dirt cheap on gog.com. These are some great games in the TBT genre. They are pretty dated but still well worth the money to play around with between releases. I am still having a hard time playing Xeno more than a few missions at a time due to the AI, but I am betting when it is all complete you won't be able to pry me away. So, just wanted to share my find.
  24. I jut hope they have the standalone versions available too with final release for us modders to play with without hassle. I'm not a Desura or Steam fan. --Yes, I realize Desura hosts the standalone too, but I don't need there client running to get it. I won't even speak of Steam as it is more of a virus than a distribution platform. If you can't tell I have had a bad experience with steam. It likes to destroy your mods by constantly validating and updating your files even the ones you've spent tremendous amounts of time and energy to add in the first place. There's my $.02 on final distribution. )
