1. Let it go man. You sometimes need to lose the battle to win the war, there's no shame in a retreat to fight another day.
2. Iirc can you just sneak pass the tanks. Camouflage and the darkness of the night might help.
3. Sniper rifles are OP I once made a team purly out of snipers. They could fire 2 shots each round which means 2 headshots and 2 dead enemies on nearly any distance.
4. Looks neat, might have the potencial for a nice popcorn movie. Hope they are able to make good use of the great atmosphere in the WH40k universe.
5. The alien assault plasma does exist. I can't say for certain which alien type tend to use it but I assume it is often used by Sebillian. Can't also say in which missions you can find them, the fact that it is apparently hard to get them might be an indicator that you might have to assault a carrier or battelship though. Been a while since I researched mag weapons, sorry for not being all that helpful.

7. When you're interested in power gaming can you also use the an exploit to train your strength, it's very handy for your custom merc since you can lower the strenght to a absolutle minimum in favour of stats like wisdom. The exploit is pretty easy to execute, just let your merc carry as many weight as possible and than give the command to travel to another area. Instantly cancel the travel command and than the travel command anew, your strength will rise quickly by doing so. The longer you would need to travel to the next area (not the whole way if you command to travel a long route) the more effective the training is.
8. Some people just like the idea of making the best of the current game mechanics instead of making chaning the mechanics or skipping it by things like console commands. It's often a very frustrating, repetative and time consuming process but can give you a certain amount of satisfaction
9. The sales are not that bad for an indie games as it seems. I hate to say that but without some hype behind it or some the word of some influential persons will any indie game only sell a mediocre amount of copies. If the launch can be considered a success can only be said from the devs, they have to know what expetation they had. But having all that said, a game isn't lost when the launch is not all that great. We live a team were games are not sold from shelves anymore. Many modern classics didn't sold much in the beginning and were discovered later.
10. Good old machine gun, a niche but very useful weapon as support in the early game, absolutly OP in the lategame
11. Yes, running away like a coward and getting mindcontrolled let you level up in bravery And reflexes only increases when they reaction-fire. I also overall agree that reflexes and bravery are the most importent stats if you want to level your soldiers to god tier, followed by accuraty because it is easier to level your soldiers up when they already have a decent one. TU and strength are at easiest to level up. You only need to spend at least 250 TU per mission iirc and give your soldiers a little bit more to carry so that they will lose 2-6 TU.
12. You can skip the battleship by letting a carrier build a big alien base. These bases also include a Preator for interrogation. You should however already have a Quantum Cryptology to indentify which UFO you don't have to shoot down.
13. Ok here the plan (hope the uploading works) to hold Drassen mine if you really want to. I used the same plan on insane difficulty with 6 soldiers against 40-60 elite soldiers attacking. I got some proper guns though. Green is where you should stay, red is where the enemy can come from and blue is where the enemy can't come from. You stay around the north side of this strange 2 house-building. 1-3 on the roof the rest around it. A few of your guys say around the house to attack anything that comes from the right (there a stones as cover) which should be enough with fire support from the roof. The south and west is harder to defend without long range weapons but you can use the house as cover to let them come close to you. Hope it helps
14. If you're using the 1.13 mod will you have to drop your backpacks in order to climp on the roof. Keep also in mind that the enemies are able to get up there as well to ambush you from behind. Pro tip for next time, don't rush for Drassen . You can fight patrols or go to San Mona to make some quick bucks and buy some weapons from the local dealer. Having proper rifles is a huge boost for your team.
15. I also liked Apocalypse quite a lot. But what I would say is that it had the worst visual design. They already went to a more fleshier look and "living machines" in Terror from the Deep but they went to the extrem in Apocalypse. That and the terribly OP alien toxin makes are the main issues I had with the game. Still fun though, played completly through it 2-3 times.
16. It's one of beauties of JA2 that you are not forced to open warfare. You can retreat, plan an ambush in the end and murder them silently with a (trowing)knife. Or camp on the airport, salvage the loot of attacking troops and order some nice guns, body armors, nightvision and of course mortars
17. When you're still that early in the game should you try a new game with the 1.13 mod http://ja2v113.pbworks.com/w/page/4218339/FrontPage It basically enhances the vanilla game and there is imo no reason to play the without the mod just to have a superior experience when you play it the next time with the mod. When it comes to defending can you easily exploit the super agressive AI. They will come at you which allows you to position your guys in superior positions like building, rooftops, etc. A remote detonator for your TNT should also be fun if you have one
18. I can confirm that even if let the UFOs with base attack mission fly around will they usually NOT attack my base.
19. The alien might only be untargetable. Have you tried to target him with manual aiming, it usually helps. There seem to be some sort of glitches with the hitboxes of the UFOs that makes some aliens standing right next to it untargetable. In any case does waiting for a round usually solve the issue.
20. Just started a new game, one of my guys called Charlie Walters has no face no face.sav no face.sav
21. Well the game is suppost to be feature complete, anything that isn't already in the game won't make a appearance without mods. You can fight within your own base, assault alien bases or fight within pretty large UFOs, all are kinda indoor. When it comes to abductions will you only have some briefly mentiond events on the global map. Mentiond features were probably too difficult to implement in a better way.
22. But is Scott Jäeger your acutal name? Sounds a lot like it could be a pseudonym
23. Might be I meant with "these days" in comparison to the time when original X-Com came out, a time where shooters just became a thing and games like Master of Magic where main stream pc games. Maybe they won't fit today exatly in the definition of "niche", assuming there is an objective meaning for it, but it's still harder to sell them since the demografic is smaller. Dosen't mean they won't sell, niche dosen't mean bad. A niche game can still sell very well within its niche which can include thousands of players.
24. It's not just about a fair price, it's also about what people are willing to pay for such games these days. Turn based game are a niche genre now and most indie games become really hard to sell when you go beyond 20 bucks. You have to adapt to the market if you want to sell your product.
25. Iirc are Reapers now even on board of normal scouts. Makes fighting Sebillian in cities more exciting, they snowball pretty quickly from time to time
