  1. Well, I do have one thing in mind...*going to edit last post in that thread as I don't want to double post*
  2. Oh, ok, not much point posting here then.(I still think they are cool ideas though)
  3. Well, if we get pilot portraits, we WILL get vehicle experience as that one is one stretch goal before pilot pictures
  4. There does exist video with 3d models of some of them, but I'm too lazy to find it now
  5. I keep posting because I enjoy debating(I really loved philosophy classes ), wiglaf keeps posting because hes trying to convince us or something and other people post because they find wiglaf's pessimism flammatory.
  6. So is this thread abandoned for sake of another thread? (The geopolitical mod thread?)
  7. Honestly, I don't really care about giving us reason to have larger number of bases, but give us better reason to where we put our bases besides largest radar coveration, largest amount of terror sites nearby, biggest mass of land so you can drop all ufos there and such. For example, since Iceland is important background wise, it would be nice if there were something interesting to happen if you have base there. But if there is nothing special about Iceland, then there is no point to put base there as your coverage will be mostly sea.
  8. I apologize if I sound hostile as I don't intend to sound hostile. I just get 'excited' in debates. It is kind of like a competition after all. Some people will always expect the worst case scenario, those kind of people can't really be convinced because they want to believe their own theory. Anyway, what do you mean by out sourcing?
  9. There are 2,614 backers, I'd expect number of people who bought through Desura to be around same number if not lesser(Do we have any where info about number of sales?) and not everyone of them pledged 20. Point is, that is actually pretty small number of people. Majority of sales never come before the game is finished, except maybe in cases of games like Minecraft that isn't actually obscure. Xenonauts is pretty obscure if we judge things by size of wikipedia page And yes, Kickstarter is honor system, we all know that. Don't you think developers ever have pride in doing their job well? Besides, taking money for themselves they got through honor system isn't really good for career. Or you really think nobody would notice if they saved up money for themselves?
  10. ''You are pretty much right. In GOG interview for example I got image that he had never heard of gog before it stopped being good old games. But he does know some indie games(usually if they have something to do with his interests) and does have reviewed some of them. And like I said, he has reviewed UFO Extraterrestrials(because he was at news of XCOM: Enemy Unknown searching for good XCOM like game in meanwhile or something) and might have mentioned Xenonauts in some XCOM related thing, I'm not sure. Anyway, point is, he never does research and says stupid stuff rather often, but he is XCOM fan and he has fans so it might work if we want more publicity, but I'm not sure. And yeah, I watch his show even though I don't like his show He does sometimes have good points/episodes, but I do it mainly because of curiosity. I don't know why people have that tempting in their head to watch shows they know they don't like. I suppose its same factor that makes people watch bad(and not funny bad) movies on purpose.
  11. Don't worry, I'm annoyed by that guy too I'm just kind of desperate at getting stretch goals because I know they would be awesome. But yeah, good point, that might actually be a bad idea... Oh well, maybe it will reach stretch goals on its own... But then again, 300,000 is a lot.... Gotta figure out ways to promote it....
  12. It probably ends when ticker says to game to move on to next phase of alien invasion.
  13. This is what I want to be in this game, but sadly none of XCOM clones have tried to do same thing Apocalypse tried =/ Which is sad because I loved what Apocalypse tried to do and was kind of disappointed when I played first two XCOM on that regard. But yeah, I love ideas related to this subject There is another thing I miss from Apocalypse... If you sold alien weapons in Apocalypse, street thugs and other corporation agents start using them too. Heck, I think aliens might use human weapons if they get them on theirs hands. Thats really something that would have been great in XCOM clones. Sell enough energy weapons and Soviets start to hoard them in preparation to war after aliens are dealed with(or to be able to stand up against them on their own without needing xenonauts) Really, what happens to all stuff you sell in XCOM clones? They just disappear as money? It would also be cool if each nation had their own research which is affected by aliens defeated in their territory(Like if your squad is killed, but one alien survives or if alien ship is shot but crash site mission not done). Like they could get energy weapons on their own or create their own variation of alien weapons. Or maybe even be stupid enough to use default alien weapons.. Anyway, my point is that it would be cool if item selling mechanic from Apocalypse would return. Maybe if you sell enough laser gatling guns, nation's aircraft can shoot ufos on their own. Or they will reverse engineer weapons you sold.(though you could explain that they can't do that because Xenonaut is only organization capable of doing that because of their funding and personnels hired in that organization... Well, I guess nations could still do bad copies or something ) Heck, even aliens could have their own research ticker were they will reverse engineer human laser/bullet technology or something. One example of that would be story wise(there isn't alien research mechanic in that game of course, its just weapon text wise) in UFO: Aftermath alien weapon Collapsible plasma gun is alien weapon inspired by human collapsible weapon technology.(basically turrets) Of course, that could be hard to implement gameplay wise, but I guess you could just have one late game weapon be human inspired alien technology.
  14. So, seriously saying, I'd like sneak peek at alien autopsies
  15. You might as well nuke whole Finland since you don't know where there I live But yeah, seriously saying, site has pictures of Xenonauts, alien ships, but not actual aliens. I did long time ago see picture of Sebilians, but its not there anymore. Actually, now that I think of it, even the Kickstarter hasn't got screenshot of aliens.... You could show up "Witness sketches" of them in Iceland report or something.
  16. On the missing islands "It's an overzealous Photoshop tool that removed the stupid light blue shallow water from the edge of the landmasses but also took some of the land with it. They'll be in the final version." Note: I'm not sure Tasmania is an island, but I'll assume it is
  17. While I can understand your misunderstanding, you should check your facts first and not assume that you are right. I 'think' that devs probably have more information on how game sales work than you. You know of Desura's Alpha fund? There are quite many of games there and I doubt enough many people have heard of it. Desura is extremely obscure, majority of games have never even heard of games there. Anyway, point is, 40,000 buyers is already "flop" by AAA standards, I doubt that Xenonaut player by both Desura and Kickstarter have reached its maximum yet.
  18. This is more a question than suggestion... Only XCOM clone where drivers have pictures is UFO: Extraterrestrial were every driver looks identical regardless of what gender's name they have. But it still gave them more personality. So I was wondering if pilots get pictures, could they be recycled for vehicle driver pictures too? Since pilot pictures IS after vehicle combat experience one, I was wondering if that will happen in case it does get funded that much. Speaking of which, will vehicles lose experience or something when vehicle is "destroyed" but not completely blown up? I still think it would be cool idea if their driver died, but you can rebuild wreckage into new one for free.
  19. Wohoo BTW, do you think you could get interview with someone? Even if they aren't journalism site, I think you might get little bonus if you get interview with someone with fan base. I mean, Spoony One and Angry Joe seem to be both be XCOM fans considering their videos.(Former was raging at XCOM FPS, latter seems to be excited at remake, though he wasn't angry at FPS and he did video on UFO: Extraterrestrials) *is trying to figure out ways to get all stretch goals, or at least up to pilot callsigns/pictures as with exception of motion detector and vehicle combat exp most important stretch goals are up to that to me*
  20. I think he was referring to Apocalypse as that one does have factories. Hes replying to guy who said he beat alien fleet and destroyed buldings by blowing them up. And yeah, hes technically wrong in that sense that aliens in Apocalypse do have fleet even if they just keep building more ships.
  21. The pop ups actually have purpose in gameplay. Each time news say casualties, number of casualty in that region(plus total casualty of course) rises resulting in less funding by that region.
  22. Explanation for missing island is(I quote) "It's an overzealous Photoshop tool that removed the stupid light blue shallow water from the edge of the landmasses but also took some of the land with it. They'll be in the final version."
  23. ONLY pop culture reference in XCOM clones is that alien ships are often saucers of some sorts and greys. Well, ok, Afterlight had little green men, but besides that none. Ok, Chrysalid is reference to alienr from Alien, but thats not part of normal UFO conspiracy theorist aliens. Anyway, if you REALLY are conspiracy theorist(note: I got confused by your post about whether you are just referring to them or if you are believing in them ^^, I hope you are at least realistic one Aka, don't expect aliens to be greys and flying in saucers. Why? Because 1) Its highly unlikely to aliens resemble humans in any way 2) Saucer isn't best space ship shape, theoretically sphere would be better. 3) They are both originating from pop culture Really, biggest problem with conspiracy theorists is that they counter every argument with "Government is hiding it" or "It could be true!" and such. And like I said, both Firaxis and Goldhawk have said they don't intend to complete with each other and both consider Xenonauts to be faithful remake while XCOM: Enemy Unknown is reimagining.
  24. Just to give him something else to complain about, this is what Tamans(UFO: Alien Invasion's version of greys) look like http://ufoai.org/wiki/images/Alien_commander1.jpg
