The thread did start back when civilians would habitually commit suicide by walking into flames. It's quite clearly mentioned on post number...ah...gosh..we've been busy here...um... Actually, I wonder if Xenophobia has pitchforks and flaming torches. I'd ask, but I'm in the huff that the flame-tiff didn't come to this thread where such things belong...

  7. There were other applicants for that job. But they found performing the task, while bleeding profusely from unexpected multiple gun shot wounds too tough. Wimps! You don't see the Commissar hesitate because of a little spilled syrup!

  10. Bringing in those new looms has resulted in the beginnings of a luddite movement. Do you :- a) bribe the local judge to mete out harsh sentences such as execution and deportation on a large group as a deterrent? b) build a secret room in your mill and hope for the best? c) lower working conditions yet further as a "punishment" and let peer pressure eradicate the movement. d) ensure that only children can use your new loom. They are easier to control and you can pay them less! Yes! It's Dark Satanic Mill Manager! A Game with a lot of (moral) depths, but a low life expectancy...just like the workforce!

  15. >dusts off memory cell< I'd agree with that. No player wants to see their grizzled veteran soldier outclassed by someone who hasn't ever left the gym. It was a similar-ish argument to bringing in new recruits with higher stats too. Here's my take on it from way back where I was giving a very broad scattershot approach to it all; more to increase squad diversity than creating super soldiers.   17. zzz did some lovely aliens that I think have made it into a more recent mod and I've seen the weapons around here... I played a terror mission with 20+ of zzz's aliens on it and a queen and it was great fun. To have the actual map would be great, and would also add a lot to industrial maps generally (possibly making decent use of the base facility assets too).

I was booked onto a training course for pithy forum responses...but it was scrapped I was hoping the training would find it's niche in the game as it may have led to any number of specialisations. But the resources really needed to be used elsewhere and it just never seemed to get any momentum behind it.
  19. Enlarge the Cydonian pyramids so that there can be some corridors inside, and add walkways on the second floor between pyramids. An alien pyramid system in a desert map....Then add reapers... still like a ...

  21. It didn't take me long to prefer the 2d map. From being able to see everything without rotating the globe round to the aesthetic link between it and the generals on the main menu. I thought that not having an Antarctic base would be a pain, but the game's altered economy meant that it really didn't amount to an issue. My resources were tied up elsewhere all the time. Gauddlike has already pointed out the real map mock-ups and it's much better the way it is. The game pays it's homage to X-Com and didn't really take much form Apocalypse.
