  1. What I would really love to have besides additional missions and tilesets would be a Memorial Screen à la Cannon Fodder, with or without portraits (might get too cluttered with pictures, but black-white photos of your soldiers with a black ribbon at the corner and maybe their medals displayed would be cool), but at any rate with name, rank, date and place of the casualty, maybe even with status (what happened to the poor guy/gal). Something like: Sgt. Chris England KIA, Russia, 3rd May 1979 Cpl. Ivan Sheojev DOW, Defense of Caracas, 15th July 1979 Cpt. Martin Kramer MIA, France, 10th September 1979 I reckon the Firaxis game will have something like this, so it might look like a copycat move, but I wouldn't be too worried about that.
  2. What about "additional sub-maps and battlescape elements"? Seems to me several people have voiced their desire for maximum randomization/replayability. My other idea would be "visual customization of aircraft", maybe also the pilot names thing, both taken from the thread about what to offer to pledgers above 200$.
  3. Mac and Linux conversions - if possible - would entice a lot of people to spend more money on Xenonauts. Quite a standard stretch goal, nowadays, but still one that's very important and well-functioning.
  4. By the way, how come Iceland is in the game and the city of Frankfurt isn't, even though it has double the population and a most important airport and would surely be attacked by aliens and I live nearby and I have to say that something is clearly rotten here! It can't be that the only explanation is that their queen is hotter than Frankfurts Oberbürgermeister. No really, Chris, change this, quick!
  5. Billboards, custom places (Offenbach, Germany, bombed by unidentified bomber wing) and especially plane markings and/or callsigns sound like very good ideas to me. Just be careful if you offer additional tiers above 200 as people might expect them to include everything below that pledge level, which you probably don't want as it might potentially mean another 10 to 50 portraits and names. Maybe even offer the backers to write blurbs for the "Small-talk" feature - if that ever gets implemented. Might be worth less than your name and portrait, though. Maybe beef up the 100 and 150 tiers or provide alternate rewards at that tier (for people with strange names but nice ideas). Maybe 350$ could be worth a chance to help design a new Xenopedia entry (maybe a nice fluffy one with names and a cool picture of something not-yet-thought-of).
  6. Might be that the wound timer is still not working properly. It wasn't some weeks ago. Also, there's a difference between wounded and injured - I don't know which one is which, but one means the soldier is still above 50% health and can be put back into action. Might be the reason.
  7. Problem with this is that a lot of Kickstarter users are Mac and/or Linux nerds. I'd also say let it go and point towards emulators (or whatever they're called), but there is a chance to make a hell of a lot of additional money if you promise ports.
  8. Sounds like a good idea! Banner Saga did stuff like this as well.
  9. The Kickstarter link to the T-Shirt backers will be receiving shows #2 - is this on purpose? Judging from the poll, #3 got a wee bit more votes...
  10. I guess that would require re-doing the whole thing... I'm not sure the time and money needed are justified. Of course, it would be nice-to-have, but I don't see it happening.
  11. Of course, you're right. I'm not any good at Japanese, however, so that's what I came up with as an example. Kami is a little off, that's true - sorry to any Japanese here (or people that know the language). The stuff that you offered is much better.
  12. It wasn't there before, but now it is... filthy extraterrestrials!
  13. Plus, as Xenonauts is an international organization, the names might not necessarily be English. Imagine several Japanes Xenonauts encountered a new alien race first and named it "Kami" or "Yokai", or a German serviceman telling his comrades back home at the base of a "Stachelteufel" - those might be names that stick, even if they'd be pronounced funnily by foreign speakers.
  14. What about tieing starting soldier number, ranks, stats, cost and duration of training or maybe even its availability to the various difficulty settings?
  15. I am by far not totally anti and nerdrage over Firaxis' remake, but the above is exactly what I fear will happen. Scripting and "cinematic" stuff. By the way, for those who didn't follow the Firaxis story, RPS has a nice set of interviews. The outlook they provide isn't exactly cool, but it isn't looking as bad as that shooter "remake" either.
  16. Absolutely. I didn't think you'd be able to change that so fast, but now the ladies are pretty close to the official models.
  17. I think you need a whole lot of patience. I usually start the update, put my laptop somewhere out of the way and leave the house for whatever business I might have that day. Upon return, it's usually finished.
  18. Oracle, I hadn't seen your take on the Wolf armour up until now, but I have to give you a Wow!. While the first two are nice, they are a little too dissimilar from the male models, but the Wolf armour really shows that you are able to "get there" pretty nicely even in an alpha fanmod.
  19. I had a similar problem, after alt-tabbing out and back in, the game took quite a while to re-establish the graphics and was laggy for the first twenty seconds or so. I have an ATI graphics card, though, and I didn't really get bugs or glitches, only bad performance.
  20. You're right, it is cluttered, but from an instructional design perspective it would in fact be better to have text and pictures clearly associated and close to each other. The Xenonauts manual is not a school textbook, however, so just keep the "classic" style.
