also this was just one string of games from one save i played. i also played several, some with saves some without saves,none got me laser/wolf option. the one where i did no air/ground battles is the only one that i ever saw those research options in.

still it had no research active at save.

hmmm your rite. should have tried that but have since removed all files and reinstalled the game. if i hadnt done that i could have linked a sav.file too but that was about 2 weeks ago

Wow! you sound like your pissed off about something Windex. brown nosing? How can people brown nose here? and why would they? its been said that the more money that is brought in before beta and release the more content and the better the game will be in the end. my first reaction after hearing that was to try to help with funds AS MUCH AS I COULD! Excited ? ? dont be excited becouse its still in alfa and some things dont work yet? ......hmmm......hmmmm... and more hmmmm..... the excited part comes from it actually looking like someone is FINALLY trying to make a REAL x-com style game, and yes letting the ones who will be playing this game be INVOLVED rite from the start! the game stoping bug you mentioned took me about 3 minutes to fix.-look in the workaround thread- sorry if i seem a bit pissed off about your post. But i am. read my signature and think about it!

I think there are two different bugs that are being thought of as the same one. the dissapearing research i think is caused by the save/reload bug but the research options stop even if prereqs are complete bug seems to be linked to simply doing ground/air combat. I started a new game and f.forwarded time till first air battle. crashed a scout. did the ground battle and the aliens dropped both the plasma rifle and the plasma pistol. note [said it sold the rifle but sent the pistol for research] when the drop ship got back to base,[before starting any research] i saved the game. then i started research and did nothing else but update research when needed and hire scientists.[no saves. no air or ground battles.just canceled all ufo radar hits] went all the way thru the research tree including laser weapons and wolf armor and the ability to manufacture both. restarted that 1st save and actually played all air and ground battles but never saved at all and the research tree ended just before getting the option for laser weapons and wolf armor. played this one thru mid august and never got any more research at all then finally CTD. restarted 1st save again and played thru mid august again only this time i saved the game in both ground and geoscape and ended up with same results as with no saves. hope this helps

Ok, got one.- two aliens land in the nevada desert near an abandon gas station the first alien walks up to the gas pumps and says "we come in peace, take us to your leader!" of course the gas pump does not respond. irritated, the first alien draws his ray gun and says "why do you ignore us? we come in peace, take us to your leader or i will fire!" the gas pump says nothing. the second alien tries to warn the first alien not to be hastey but he is to late and the first alien fires. there is a huge explosion that blows them 100 feet out into the desert. after they shake themselves off and get up the first alien says to the second alien "WOW!! how did you know they would be so hostile?" the second alien replies "my friend, after all the years and all the planets ive seen in my days in space there is one thing i have learned. any species that can wrap their junk around themselves twice and still stick it in their ear aint nobody to mess with!"

you forgot the always popular groin shot in fallout. lol. which is the only reason i kept the BB gun handy.

I have the same problem but mine starts with laser weapons and wolf armor. ive played through many new game starts and as yet have never been able to get laser and wolf options other than by doing this: started a new game and f.forwarded till first ufo battle, crash landed scout, aliens drop both pistol and rifle. returned to base and saved game before any research was started. then started research and f. forwarded time without doing anything else, just kept research updated and hire scientists as possible [was made easier by use of 'M' button] went straight through all researches including laser weapons and wolf armor and the ability to manufacture both. then went back and reloaded that same save and actually played the game with air combat and ground battles but without any saves at all. research tree ended just before laser weapons and wolf armor. researched everything i could but nothing else was given as option, played that one up to mid august then had a CTD. started that save again and played thru to mid august again with saves and got the same result as with no saves at all. since that time i have uninstalled and removed all files and reinstalled but havnt gotten around to playing again,just been lurking around the forums 24/7. lol

Yep, im sure in a true battlefield you would know where it was before you could see it. remember just becouse it seems to stop every turn it really doesnt unless you leave it unmoved. movement is actually continuous between turns and its noise would be a big give away.

to research plasma rifle you first have to research plasma pistol. if you dont get the option for rifle after you get pistol researched make sure you have gotten a rifle in a ground battle. if you still dont get the rifle research option you may need to ad it to the bug list. in this build v9 1 pistol and 1 rifle are auto sent to research every battle if they are dropped by aliens.

I believe that would be letter/poop chute.

does anyone else remember playing Dragon Wars by Interplay on the com. 64 ? lol I think that was about 100 years ago.

ive not had any problems with the starting gear, it seems to match fairly well with what is needed. what would be the first thing you would do if you KNEW there was a threat but you had very limited means to detect them? if i was going to add a researchable tech to start the game with before i actually shot down a UFO it would be a better way to detect them, mabye radar range.

do you meen chris said having an on screen combat log was a baaad idea or turning off the alien turn?

Although i cant think of any jokes rite now im sure i will see a post that jars my memory in the near future. but i have had a question for a while that i just couldnt find a good place to post at and this seems to be as good as any. Is Sectoids avatars junk blurred out?
