  1. Actually you can if you use tracer rounds. (Never mind that one usually loads every fifth round as a tracer. ) But yeah, seems unlikely. If we want it proper. But how hard can it be for the engine to draw a line from point a to b, where a is gun and b is calculated point of impact? And make this work with the whole shooting mechanics.. Damn it Chris! *shake fist* You think increasing speed will have that effect? I thought it would only play the frames faster, rendering the shot even harder to see. I'll try testing it. Thanks for the input!
  2. Yeah, I'm envisioning about three rows of tiles per second. Making it go pretty fast, but still noticeable. Or maybe a random .2 to .5 second delay every second row so it doesn't look too mechanical. Bam, bam, delay, bam bam, delay, bam. I really hope this can be implemented. The holding of ones breath and widening eyes as one sees an explosive head for the building your men are using for cover. *gleee*
  3. Hehe, right. I haven't been able to get very far either, so I'm not hindering myself more than needed atm.
  4. You could make a post in the suggestion & feature request section. ^^
  5. Interesting theory, I will test this. btw, you could try loading the autosave for your combat. I was able to complete the mission then as stated above. Even though the geoscape told me the crash site escaped to space.
  6. Aaaaaaaaaaaah. Cheers! You wouldn't also know how to make the projectile frames stay in place until the projectiles hit? I wouldn't mind my lasers shooting beams. Edit: Reflected on this a bit further.. since the game game uses an image intended for a specific direction for quite a few degrees, getting a beam to look good would be hard wouldn't it? Unless I used really thin images, and loads of them. Dunno how this would impact the game speed though..
  7. So.. when can I download it? I just had a peek at the weapon sheet and it seems odd at first glance that lasers have a tenth of the range, but 100x the accuracy of ballistic equalents. I assume this has something to do with how the engine works or some other coding wizardry. That, or the result is largely the same, the very short range doesn't affect it because of the incredible accuracy.
  8. Well yes, zooming in to see them is a given. But I don't think one should skip major cities like that. Millions of people live in them after all. I reckon it's a quick thing to input a spot and a name, and as long as it is, I'd rather have as much detail as possible really. I want to know the name of the city/village I'm rampaging through!
  9. I wouldn't mind rearranging my soldier tabs, or the ap cost displayed on the bar. I've done that math wrong a lot of times. "Aw, shit I forgot he spent one point turning!"
  10. Wow, it's very shiny isn't it. And "streamlined" for consoles. I think I want the fiddly bits! That's what hardcore strategy is about. Gotta fiddle. I'll try the demo, or watch a ton of gameplay vids before deciding if it's worth getting. Which it might well be mind.
  11. Got to represent! Europe; X 4335 Y 0681 - Oslo X 4216 Y 0655 - Bergen X 4331 Y 0602 - Trondheim X 4513 Y 0460 - Tromsø X 4651 Y 0437 - Hammerfest (Northernmost town in the world! Or so we like to think!)
  12. But isn't the organization kinda secret? War slogans would seem a bit odd then. On to google translator! Terra for Humans - Terra Hominum Adjuva nos in mortem tantum - Only in death will we rest Suo periculo - At one's own danger Dum vita es, spes est - While there's life, there's hope Nil desperandum - Never despair Ubi pauci multis resistere - Where few stand against many Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur - Everything said in Latin, seems deep Si Non Oscillas, Noli Tintinnare - If you don't swing, don't ring Alieni ite domum - Aliens go home! Vos qui morituris, cum proficere - You who are about to die, get on with it Vacca foeda - Stupid cow
  13. I think it's sounds good. Take my money! Especially if I get an art book, norweenies and credited But yea, I'd rather you make the game even awesomer with the money than spend it on an art book, if it comes to that. You'll have it either way.
  14. Indeed! The permanent death is one of the cores of the game. I berate myself heavily if a soldier dies in battle, and it's a disaster if more than one goes. I did a lot of loading in UFO EU to save my men and women. However, now I'm a bit more mature and I'll just slap myself and congratulate me on a job poorly done. That, and loading in Xenonauts atm is risky business!
  15. Oh, thanks. I'll make sure after I replay the missian, again.
  16. In no order; Dark Souls/Demon's Souls Heroes of Might and Magic Sins of a Solar Empire (some of you mentioned Twilight Imperium, sins is basically that on pc. ) Total Annihilation The Elder Scrolls And loads loads more. According to Playfire I own 357 titles. 0.o Give or take. Edit: Oh, damn. List was far from updated. I'm a sucker for lists. *rolls up sleeves*
  17. There is a kill and mission counter atm, though it doesn't seem to be implemented yet.
  18. That is strange. I get the option to play in 1920x1200 which I've always done, at it works fine. I can read everything. Though assignment drop down menu texts are a bit tiny.
  19. I've used the medkit whenever someone has been hurt with no problems. Never tried dropping it though as all my non-specialists carry medkits.
  20. Yep. We (Norwegians) use the MG3 still, and it's a 7.62 round. Gunner two carries all the ammo, loads and feeds the weapon. It's a horrible job in heavy snow let me tell you. The spare barrel is also carried by the second guy. In peace time we change every ~200 rounds, but the barrels can handle ~400 before deforming. It gets hot!
  21. After loading a ground combat I had to leave; -All my soldiers were called Jack Longname in the UI. (Happens every load afaik) -If I opened the inventory while standing over an alien, the inventory ui didn't reflect this. But the soldier list in the inventory had the correct names for my squad. Almost like the soldier in combat and the one in the inventory screen were different entities. Numbers on the ap and weight bars are scrambled and the bars are gone as well as unit 1 being injured. (Not in combat GUI tho) -Only one or two of them reacted to setting snap reserve on. -The tank didn't make any sounds when moving, but that was already listed. -After killing six aliens, I think, I was standing in the UFO and ended the turn. The screen went black and I CTD'd. Edit: Reloaded for more info. Only nr 8 and the tank reacts to snap reserve. Also, screenies. Edit: Reloading the auto save of the mission seems ok. Only the snap reserve and vehicle sound is bugged now afaik. Though the game said that the crash site escaped into space. However after finishing Alenum research after the mission I put my scientists on new research, then clicked the Personnel tab, causing a CTD. (And I hadn't saved after the mission >.<) Also had that double rpg weight after the mission issue, but re-equipping it solved it. Edit: Tried reloading the mission again a couple of times, and now I get the same bugs. >.< New Game!
  22. Tried loading a ground battle I started after I patched to 8.6. Everyone is called Jack Longname, and after winning I got CTD, no win screen. Though the Jack Longname thing was there in 8.5 as well (if I go to the inventory, they are listed by their correct name though). I gather it's common? Also, only about two guys could be set to snap reserve after the load. The rest didn't bother. I tried not spending all my AP, but none of them got a chance to use it so I don't know if they would have shot if they had the AP.
  23. Hello, Tor (that's THOR to you, mortal) from Norway (ofc). I'm sadly no longer in my late-mid-twenties, but I still remember x-com fondly. It was grand. I love games, and sniffed about this some time ago. I chanced upon it again, and now that I could play it, the price was a steal so I jumped in. I'm very fond of lasers. I think lasers should always have beams (please consider it developers). I'm a fire emergency responder and work for the army about a month or so every year. I like things that men do, except sports with balls in them. And skiis.
  24. I like the portraits, especially if you have the stats on there. Then there isn't really a need for the next guy button. Concerning grenades; Real soldiers carry their weapons in a sling, so they can, you know, throw a grenade for example, and then put their hands back on their weapon. So weapons should definitely not drop to the ground imo. However rpg's are usually not slung while in combat in my experience, but then again, if you have an rpg, why throw a grenade?
