(sorry a bit tired... i get an odd sense of humor then) I don't know which translation is correct "official" translation. im translating the swedish translation of Ala jacta est int o english. It's another cesarian quote when he is on his way over a river to invade rome i think?
  2. If A loses 1 point of strenght does that one fall down then or retract it's strenght to keep itself supported? Will it then steal from C or from B? Edit: also in your example you have forgotten to strenghten the second topmost middle tile that is very savable. the tile under that might ven be saved with a bit of strenght shunting around while its still only the bottom wall thats been damaged. that rearrangeing will unfortunately cause trouble when you remove the wall at the bottom left. Edit: I realie i may have ignored the "adjacent tiles combined 4 strenght" rule. but still what is preventing the tiles at the top from shifting around integrity strenght and causing problems when they realigne due to new circumstances? If the algorith is going to be as intelligent as you want it to be, wouldnt it have to try to equalize the tiles strenght preemptivly?

  4. Depending on how drugged up the streetgang is, the police officer responding to the scen may have to take statements from witnesses about aliens getting rectally probed against their will.
  5. For some reason jean-luc's solution to the squad portraits works alot better for me. If I have to have them onscreen I'd like to have them to the side like that. Though im struggeling to think of what you can have there instead if you (can) allow for the option to toggle them off? Just some kind of artist rendition of the xenonaut logo?)
  6. The camera levels are they the + and - buttons by the camera icon? Doesn't seem that intuitive compared to the last build. I guess it's more informative since it seems to tell you which elevation you are on atm. Instead of marking it with a camera could you mark it like the stacked boxes from the original xcom or something like that? I thought it was some kind of zoom function for close ups on female civilians or something? (since theres no femalesoldiers you couldnt be wanting to zoom in to ogle those =P) Edit: hmm wait... the camera thing seems to be in an old screenshot as well.. where is the elevation control in the updated gui? edit2: think i confused the next/previous soldier buttons in the old version for elevation control. I'm a bit confused as to what button does what right now =P And the portraits of your whole squad makes it look a bit cluttered imo. If you want to keep that in could you at least have a toggle for choosing between that and only showing their numbers? (for me atleast the whole squads portraits up there is going to take away a bit of the xcom feel and keep reminding me of some of the more horrible clones out there... somehow i just plain dont like it =( )
  7. (Sorry that I'm still plugging this. I don't mind it not beeing in the game, I'm just haveing fun with the the concept and my own version of "problem solving" it =P) Bolt lightning is not a problem. I can name the guy carrying the Tesla cannon "Raiden" and pretend I'm playing mortal combat! =P Tbh it wouldn't even matter that much since it's a short range weapon like the shotgun. Edit: alternativly you could have the weapon fire a solid object that upon impact causes electrical damagein the area.. then it wouldnt have the "must target closest" limitation either.
  8. I so want that tesla cannon now. A heavy (aoe) weapon with shotgun range mechanics! (although it would probably be redundant and less useful then the shotgun, so I dont expect I ever will see it ingame. I just want it for flavour =P)

    Hahaha. I'v only gotten through the first page of this and im already immensly entertained. Mostly by the very particular choises in battle and victory music.
  10. Thank god for the sprites. I woudln't consider this game if the units were 3D rendered. I'd just go with UFO extraterrestrials and be done with it. IMO it's the sprites that gives this game it's charm.

Monkey island 1, 2 and 3 (not so much the 3D versions) Toejam and Earl Fallout 1 and 2 X-com 1, 2 and 3 (despite 3s dissapointing ending) Discworld 1 and 2 Overlord 1 (havent gotten around playing the second one so it might be up there too) Edit: forgot about Z. not the second game but the old one by bitmapbrothers. quite enjoying nuclear dawn atm. but not sure if i will get bored with it soon.
  12. Hello =) Furry? Woot? 0.o It's still in alpha, as such most of the game isn't in the current version. Yes, it is still ridden with buggs, just look at the bugg section of the forum. I do believe theres an introductions sticky somewhere. I saw it earlier today but havent posted in it. Edit: Here it is!

Tesla lightning strike cannons! bulky ammo single/double charge ammo packs does not reach long range innacurate at mid range VERY accurate at short range to closest target infront (make sure theres no zenonauts between you and your target) possible special feature: chain lightning damage to targets on adjacent squares (baisicly being an 9 square aoe that only affects biological/mechanical targets and not enviroment. Can't use in the middle of a group of 9 enemies since it targets the closest, theoretically only 5 additional targets would be possible practically i expect 1-2 if even that.) Later on in the tech tree the Tesla Cannon Mark 2 could have VERY high accuracy at long range and not have the target closest condition (and without the chaining to adjacent squares). But have comparably low damage to other weapons and still have the bulky ammo issue and High AP cost makeing it more of a flavour weapon then some must have thing. Ps. Hope me beeing so specific about the weapon doesn't limit Chris in modifying the idea to any way he wants =) DS.

If we are going with soviet weapons can we research Tesla lightning strike gun (heavy weapon, ammo issues same as rocketlauncher for gameplay reasons) How would it work? -Perhaps very inacurate at long to midrange (do not use while another xenonaut is infront you your tesla cannon) highly accurate at short range (assuming no other target is closer in a cone infront of the cannoner). -Could possibly have a special feuture to chain to 1 (or 2 but probably only one) nearby aliens? (the secondary target must be on an adjacent square? or maximum of one square away) PS. should this be posted in the suggestions thread instead of here? DS.
  15. Isnt the point that hes not demanding changes? he's makeing a modification that you can choose to apply or ignore completly. He's giving you the option of trying it out and see if you like it.

  17. Tbh I was thinking more of xenobatattackfalcons! Crossbreed a falcon /warhawk with some xenobat thingy that got a sound attack (flying unit that can attack alien flying units) acid spitters, flame breaters and soundblasters seems like apropriet abilities that you can pick up from the zenobeasts to incorporate into your own medeival arsenal. I have no idea what good crossbreading horses would do. would a guy ride on the xeno modified horse or would it roam? how would he control its attack modes? PS. Oh dear, we are derailing this thread arent we? Should we move this discussion to a seperate thread? DS.
  18. Think that's when the user/wielder/gunner tries to sexually abuse/harass other ppl by pokeing them up other peoples butts. or possibly by arms smuggler when trying to get them past custums I dunno.
  19. pixels > polygons! fix the sory, atmosphere and gameplay first. screw the graphics! as long as you can see whats what it doesnt need to be uber fancy. nice graphics is nice but not at the cost of all the other aspects of the game. (the monkey island series is a good example. the 2D versions were awesome. the fourth game was horrible BECAUSE of the 3D. the MI episodes worked but i missed the 2D. I do believe it would have been better in 2D)
  20. So should some kind of indicator for how time passes be added during the air fight interfase? or just a more clear indication when it's paused? (I guess what im asking is is it impossible to tell that it has been paused?)

  22. cyllan have you tried looking up x-com on wikipedia? thats how i found this site. it should list the frenchise and most of the clones. Also i think the aliens see further for balance issues. as well as share vision similar to how you act as a player. And i see you refereing to other games Alien AI in your posts. maybe wait for the beta version and acctually play a misssion before you complain about the AI in this game?
  23. Whats that saying? "Technology that is sufficiently advanced is indistingueshble from magic" (paraphrased, forgot who said it.. not very good with names) Obviously "Medieval Europe" would be forced to use magic, weither it's what we consider fantasy magic or merely alien tech maskerading as magic. (holy handgranade of antioch neds to be in a medievel verison!) They would also probably use animals to a larger extent then "modern" armed forces. maybe they can capture and "train" alien beasts? Although i have no idea how that would work ingame.

Is the increased reaction chance a problem or is he trying to work with its final structure in mind? tbh id probably want the reduced ap cost of fireing a weapon that comes with Belmakors solution. Or are you/we expecting the alien armor to scale perfectly with the weapon upgrades so that it will allways require the same ammount of shot for the particular type of weapon regardless how far up the tech tree you are? What do we expect about the scaleing with conversion of alien weaponry? PS. tbh reaction fire is fun imo, although lastest games ive played aliens has reacted alot more then player chars (yes the chars has enough AP left) makeing reaction fire less fun. DS.
